Conflict of interest policy

edit

  Hello, Gordonsbuck. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. Editing for the purpose of advertising or promotion is not permitted. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID). Thank you. --Ronz (talk) 01:50, 29 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

Following up on your comment

Hi Gordonsbuck. Thanks for bringing up your concerns about other links (Hard to believe that you deleted the link to SealFAQs but kept the link to a commercial site.). Probably just an oversight on my part. If you could identify the specific articles and links, I'll look into it. --Ronz (talk) 17:45, 30 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

I'm not sure where to reply to your question about the link to a commercial site. In SealFAQs, under the Reference section, the first entry is * What is a Pump Seal? This links to http://www.pumpseals.net/ who are manufacturers and distributors of pump seals. The site includes an option to purchase a seal.

I'm retired now and seals are just a hobby. I get no income from SealFAQs.
