edit

  Hello, I'm Doniago. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Tremors (film), but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at the tutorial on citing sources. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. DonIago (talk) 00:34, 13 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

When adding links to material on external sites, as you did to Alexander Myres, please ensure that the external site is not violating the creator's copyright. Linking to websites that display copyrighted works is acceptable as long as the website's operator has created or licensed the work. Knowingly directing others to a site that violates copyright may be considered contributory infringement. This is particularly relevant when linking to sites such as YouTube or Sci-Hub, where due care should be taken to avoid linking to material that violates its creator's copyright. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If you believe the linked site is not violating copyright with respect to the material, then you should do one of the following:

  • If the linked site is the copyright holder, leave a message explaining the details on the article Talk page;
  • If a note on the linked site credibly claims permission to host the material, or a note on the copyright holder's site grants such permission, leave a note on the article Talk page with a link to where we can find that note;
  • If you are the copyright holder or the external site administrator, adjust the linked site to indicate permission as above and leave a note on the article Talk page;

If the material is available on a different site that satisfies one of the above conditions, link to that site instead. Eagles 24/7 (C) 01:48, 11 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Long plot

edit

Please familiarize yourself with WP:FILMPLOT. Plot sections of film articles should be 400-700 words.

Do not remove the {{Long plot}} tag from articles when the Plot section is over 700 words, as you did with your edit to the article Twister (1996 film).[1] The plot section was still approximately 940 words long, far in excess of the recommended 400-700 words. -- 109.78.214.209 (talk) 02:37, 11 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

CS1 error on Austin Ekeler

edit

  Hello, I'm Qwerfjkl (bot). I have automatically detected that this edit performed by you, on the page Austin Ekeler, may have introduced referencing errors. They are as follows:

  • A "bare URL and missing title" error. References show this error when they do not have a title. Please edit the article to add the appropriate title parameter to the reference. (Fix | Ask for help)

Please check this page and fix the errors highlighted. If you think this is a false positive, you can report it to my operator. Thanks, Qwerfjkl (bot) (talk) 22:44, 6 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

Please add reference

edit

Please add a reference to your source for the information in this edit, thanks. Schazjmd (talk) 20:54, 12 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Never mind, that content I tagged has been removed. Please be careful to always cite your sources when you add content. Schazjmd (talk) 22:05, 12 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Adherence to sources

edit

Please be more careful when you summarize sources. Your edit to Baker Mayfield included information that the source did not support.

  • Mayfield originally committed verbally to Florida Atlantic The source does not say that.
  • first program to offer him a full-ride scholarship The source does not say they were the first nor do they specify the type of scholarship.

Don't add claims to content that cannot be verified in the source that you cite. Schazjmd (talk) 15:51, 13 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

I also had to remove some of the content you added to Mosquito that wasn't supported by the sources. Schazjmd (talk) 14:40, 23 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
I removed "for free" from your edit to John Carpenter because, once again, the sources you cite don't say that. You need to STOP embellishing your edits with information that your sources don't support. Schazjmd (talk) 22:13, 24 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

When your edit is reverted

edit

The appropriate thing to do when an edit of yours is reverted is to begin a discussion with the editor(s) who object on the article's talk page to work through the dispute. (See WP:BRD) The inappropriate thing to do is revert it back again. Schazjmd (talk) 23:03, 20 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Regarding your restored edits to Twister (1996 film): nydailynews.com, aerogrammestudio.com, and makeyourbookamovie.com are not reliable sources. Please read WP:RS and learn to tell the difference.
The source you added says nothing about Hanks picking out his wardrobe or reading lines with the cast. Another source you added does not support "Paxton was immediately hired after a single script read with De Bont". You added Despite early rumors from media publications when the source cited makes no mention of "early rumors from media publications". Again, you are adding unverified information.
I am going to revert your edit to the article because you added unreliable sources and appear to making stuff up. You need to learn to summarize sources accurately, and if you can't find a reliable source for something, don't write it in the article. Schazjmd (talk) 23:38, 20 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

September 2023

edit

  Please do not add or change content, as you did at Jonathan Adams (American football), without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. Schazjmd (talk) 12:28, 10 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

October 2023

edit

  Please stop. If you continue to add unsourced or poorly sourced content, as you did at Andrew Peasley, you may be blocked from editing. Schazjmd (talk) 16:47, 8 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Introduction to contentious topics

edit

You have recently edited a page related to articles about living or recently deceased people, and edits relating to the subject (living or recently deceased) of such biographical articles, a topic designated as contentious. This standard message is designed as an introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited List of films with the longest production time, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page The Commission. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, --DPL bot (talk) 18:13, 9 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Liver King sources

edit

I don't know if you got your notes mixed up when editing, but most of the content you've added to the Liver King article doesn't appear in the sources that you've cited for it. I've removed and shortened paragraphs where I was unable to verify the statements. Belbury (talk) 14:02, 13 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

July 2024

edit

  You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you vandalize Wikipedia by deliberately introducing incorrect information, as you did at John Carpenter's unrealized projects. The quotes you have added to this article absolutely do not exist in the cited sources. Belbury (talk) 08:25, 15 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

I didn't make up anything. Carpenter has said all of those things, mostly in interviews found on YouTube or in his book, John Carpenter: The Prince of Darkness by Gilles Boulenger. It's difficult to source a book that cannot be read online anywhere and the only way to know the quote is by buying the book and reading it physically. I'm not sure how to source that book or any book. I am a huge Carpenter fan and love finding obscure facts about him, and it's not fair that the ONLY facts we can discuss about him on wikipedia are those found immediately on the internet. If you'd like I could maybe scan page of his book and upload the images to flickr. Not sure how else to prove this stuff was actually said.
Also, being blocked for saying Skylar Thompson needed "immediate surgery" is a bit harsh and hyper-analytical to a pedantic degree. It's entirely true that he needed immediate surgery, as it says here: https://kelinci.s3.uk.io.cloud.ovh.net/skylar-thompson-parents-brad-thompson-teresa-thompson.html Sure, I should have cited this website, but it blocking over an accidental misquoting is a bit extreme I'd argue.
And to address comments about me "not responding to my Talk page," there's one mention of my "warning from August 2023" where I edited the Twister page and said that the screenplay was purchased for $2.5 million, making it one of the most expensive screenplay purchases of all time. I got so livid when that edit got contested, even though I cited probably 5 different sources that proved my edit was 100% factual, that I basically refused to engage in it. I refused to respond because I knew nothing would matter and this Schazjmd guy would still remove the edit no matter what I cited. I still think getting that edit continuously removed is absurd. That budgetary fact originally appeared in John Robert Marlow's book Make Your Story a Movie: Adapting Your Book or Idea for Hollywood where he made a list of some of the most expensive screenplays ever purchased, and listed Twister at $2.5 million. It's not something I made up, and a Google search repeats that number sevaral times. I'm not sure why user Schazjmd was rewarded for continuously reverting my edit, as if they did not want this number being known to the public or something. Cecil Trachenburg did a video last week where he said Twister cost $2.5 million. GoodEditsOnly (talk) 00:57, 22 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
Wikipedia:Offline sources are fine, just say which book you're taking the quote from.
You've not been blocked for saying that someone needed "immediate surgery" when this wasn't in the cited source, you've been blocked for adding apparently imaginary quotations to many film and television articles. Like here where you take a direct newspaper interview quote of A Dracula movie would be nice. and add And a movie called "John Carpenter's Dracula" would be nicer. Maybe we'll find out here soon., despite those words simply not appearing in the printed interview. Belbury (talk) 10:22, 29 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
My IP address has been blocked for over a year. Is there absolutely anything I can do to alleviate this? I mostly use wikipedia to experiment on website formatting and it has taught me a lot. I admit I have misused my wikipedia account to jazz up details, such as the quote from John Carpenter's never-released Dracula film, which started from a rumor on this message board: https://moviechat.org/nm0000118/John-Carpenter/6639982e93eeba78f78684d7/Carpenter-wants-to-direct-a-Dracula-movie
I'd argue that 95% of my missing sources do come from an undisputable fact, such as everything removed from the Phil McSpadden wikipedia page. I was simply too lazy to cite everything because, honestly, most people don' bother to even check, and that page hadn't been touched in a long time. Most of the things I added to John Carpenter's unrealized projects page IS true, and can be fact checked, such as his attempts to adapt The Stars My Destination and Planet of the Damned. Mostly recently, my claim that Kaden Davis gained recognition for dressing up as the Joker is 1000% true, and it's how I discovered him, though it was actually at his college pro day invitational, not the Shrine Bowl.
I used this website daily and I'm honestly crushed that my IP is blocked until October 2025. If there's anything I can do, if there's someones car I can wash or someone's kids to babysit, I'll do it. I can go through every single one of my previous edits since before 2020 and add citations. The overwhelming majority of them are true. GoodEditsOnly (talk) 06:48, 12 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
If anything, can I please request an account wipe? I'd like everything removed from my GoodEditsOnly userpage. Thank you. GoodEditsOnly (talk) 06:53, 12 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

  There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. Thank you. Belbury (talk) 14:47, 18 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for persistently adding unsourced or poorly sourced content.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please review Wikipedia's guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  —Ingenuity (t • c) 15:08, 18 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
