Greetings about your first edit edit

Hello, I recently reverted your edit at List of the oldest living people, where you can read my explanation as to why. I just wanted to say that I appreciate your contribution to the article and would encourage you to keep an eye out for reliable coverage of Emilio Flores Marquez and other supercentenarians. Wikipedia uses Guinness World Records to determine who the world's oldest person and man are, and they have yet to name another man as the oldest after the death of Robert Weighton. He was born on 29 March 1908, which basically means that, for now, it is fair game to add any reliably sourced living man born after he was. That could change in the future if Guinness named a man younger then Marquez as the oldest, but that is irrelevant for now.

A reliable source for Emilio Flores Marquez would be a newspaper article, media report, government report, GRG validation or the like that contains a complete date of birth and is under a year old. It's ok to have an older source that gives the full date of birth, as long as a recent source (under 1 year old) exists as proof of life. These most often take the form of a birthday celebration article. Social media (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram), blogs, fan sites and self-published sources are not considered reliable by Wikipedia and cannot be used as sources in longevity articles. The news sites you cited would have been perfect, but they cited a fan site and a self-published source, which made those particular articles invalid for our use. I hope you find any of this helpful and please don't get discouraged. Sincerely, Newshunter12 (talk) 04:48, 11 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
