This page is being constructed to advance the awareness of the research which is highlighting the areas of biochemical depletion associated with the long term use of statins and the use of statins in otherwise healthy patients in the name of prevention. It is now increasingly apparent that the long term users have adverse reactions which are over looked and grossly under-reported. Figures from the MHRA in the UK show that this is the case and estimates of the under reporting are between 1% and 10% depending on where you are in the spectrum of concerns. As you move from 10% to 1% the statins move from being marginally beneficial to dangerous as a treatment for cardiovascular disease. A paper just accepted for publication in a peer-reviwed medical journal will be raising the issue of non-cardiovascular statin effects and is likely to cause a huge re-evaluation of statins. Publication is estimated to be June 2009. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Glynwiki (talkcontribs) 11:59, 26 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
