This is the archived discussion of the TFAR nomination for the article below. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page (such as Wikipedia talk:Today's featured article/requests). Please do not modify this page unless you are renominating the article at TFAR. For renominations, please add {{collapse top|Previous nomination}} to the top of the discussion and {{collapse bottom}} at the bottom, then complete a new nomination underneath. To do this, see the instructions at {{TFAR nom/doc}}.

The Webley Revolver (also known as the Webley Top-Break Revolver or Webley Self-Extracting Revolver) was, in various marks, the standard issue service pistol for the armed forces of the United Kingdom, the British Empire, and the Commonwealth from 1887 until 1963.

The Webley is a top-break revolver with automatic extraction. That is, breaking the revolver open for reloading also operates the extractor. This removes the spent cartridges from the cylinder. The Webley Mk I service revolver was adopted in 1887. A later version, the Mk IV, rose to prominence during the Boer War of 1899–1902. However, the Mk VI, introduced in 1915 during the First World War, is perhaps the best-known model.Firing the large .455 Webley cartridge, Webley service revolvers are among the most powerful top-break revolvers ever produced. Although the .455 calibre Webley is no longer in military service, the .38/200 Webley Mk IV variant is still in use as a police sidearm in a number of countries. With a modified, "shaved" cylinder and the use of a half moon clip, the Webley Mk VI can fire the 45 ACP cartridge, although full-power or +P .45 ACP cartridges exceed Webley proof loads and should not be used. Many of the Webley Mk VIs were converted to fire 45 ACP ammunition after .455 Webley ammunition became increasingly difficult to find. (Full article...)

Today, i nominated above TFA but user Iridescent opposed me that this article is already been TFA once. My questions are below:-

1. Can i nominate TFA which already been TFA once in the past. If yes, then how?

2. How i can check that this article is already been TFA?

Thanks for this support in advance.

(watching:) there are several thousand articles qualified to appear as Featured article, - it needs excellent reasons to repeat one, for example that the content changed. You gave no reason. - To check, go to the talk page, Talk:Webley Revolver, look up the article history, here: "This article appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page as Today's featured article on November 8, 2007." - Your second nomination is full of formal errors (such as only one item should be bold, the article title). There's also a rule that one editor should have only one nomination open at a time. - If you just started editing, why don't you add to content? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 17:44, 4 April 2016 (UTC)Reply
As I've noted in another of your nominations, WP:FANMP is the list of eligible articles yet to run. I'd strongly disagree with Gerda's view that it would be an excellent reason to repeat an article if the content changed - that's simply not the test. The only four articles to have appeared for more than 24 hours at TFA did so for non-Wikipedia reasons: Barack Obama on the 2008 presidential election day (double-header with John McCain), Gough Whitlam for his memorial service and two special space events (the last Transit of Venus in our lifetime, and the arrival of a space probe at Pluto). Wikipedia-based reasons have never been thought to be enough. Incidentally, Gerda Arendt, didn't I remove the rule about only one nomination per person in 2013? Has it come back? BencherliteTalk 18:43, 4 April 2016 (UTC)Reply
Sorry, my memory ... - I should have remembered that although the Periodic table improved drastically it was not shown again. I should also have put "rule" in quotation marks. It was a rule once, and I behave as if it still existed, because I think many should have a chance to nominate. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 18:50, 4 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

WP:TFAR

edit

I had to revert that edit; 2015 Mina stampede can't be nominated at TFA, since it's not a Featured Article. - Dank (push to talk) 21:02, 14 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
