Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because of the following problems: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

You may request a change of username and unblock if you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization. To do this, first search Special:CentralAuth for available usernames that comply with the username policy. Once you have found an acceptable username, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 16:14, 31 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

I truly understand why I was blocked and promise I will not repeat this kind of action. I did not have an intention to use it for promotion as I was just trying to see how to create an account on the wiki. I feel sorry if I cause any inconvenience. If I'm unblocked, I will make a positive contribution to the Wiki community by providing updated edits and useful content to benefit the readers here. Regarding the first item, I did not and will not receive any compensation. Again, my username was just a mistake. So sorry about that

Decline reason:

The topic areas that you mention squarely fall within your conflict of interest, so you won't be unblocked to edit about them. If there are other topics unrelated to your COI, please tell what those might be and/or agree to not make any COI related edits. I am declining your request, you may make another for someon else to review. 331dot (talk) 20:31, 31 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Are you employed by Global Shares? What articles or topics do you want to edit? 331dot (talk) 16:48, 31 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hello, yes I'm employed by Global Share but I have no intention to use it to monetize. I just want to set up a page for Global Shares to tell people who we are and what we do.
Currently, I don't have a plan to edit other articles as I just hope to set up a page for my company.
In the future, I'd like to provide some updated edits to equity management articles because it's my strength. Again, thanks for your time Global Shares Cork (talk) 17:02, 31 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
A company isn't entitled to have a Wikipedia article just because it exists. All topics on Wikipedia must be notable - in the case of a company, it must meet the notability criteria for companies. The company must have already received significant coverage in multiple reliable and independent sources to be considered worthy of inclusion. We have no interest in what a company wishes to say about itself; writing about your own company is a conflict of interest. You don't have to be selling anything - simply using Wikipedia to publicize the existence of your company is still promotion, which isn't allowed here. If you have no interest in writing about anything besides your company, then you should find an alternative outlet that permits this type of writing. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 18:11, 31 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
thanks! So, if I think the company is notable as it has received significant coverage, what can I do next in order to be listed on Wiki? thanks Global Shares Cork (talk) 18:27, 31 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
It is unlikely that an administrator will unblock you unless you, in the short term, agree to edit topics outside your conflict of interest, as a show of good faith to contribute constructively to the project and learn Wikipedia's rules and editing culture.
Assuming that you agree to these conditions and make some useful edits, then you would do the following if/when attempting to write about this company:
  1. Make the mandatory disclosure as a paid editor on your userpage with the {{paid}} template
  2. Review the guide "Your first article"
  3. Write your article based on (but not directly copied from) the coverage from reliable, third-party sources, being careful to properly cite these sources with footnotes
  4. Submit your draft article for review by independent editors, and heed the advice from their evaluation.

Hello, yes. I agree. I hope it can help you unblock me Global Shares Cork (talk) 19:29, 31 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
I am not an administrator, so I cannot unblock you. However, when an administrator reviews your request, I'm sure they will take this discussion into consideration. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 19:40, 31 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
  • If you work for Global Shares, you are a paid editor, you do not have to be specifically paid to edit or specifically instructed to edit. Drm310 is quite correct, you will not be unblocked to, in the short term, edit about your company. You say "I agree" above but I'm not convinced you understand what you are agreeing to. We will want to see you build up a good edit history showing that you understand relevant Wikipedia guidelines, especially about content and sourcing. It won't be soon before you are permitted to edit about your company- and when you are- you will have to do it indirectly. If this is okay with you, please tell about some topics that you might edit about, or a specific edit you would make to an existing article. 331dot (talk) 19:58, 31 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
Some topics in my minds are: Search engine optimization (SEO), employee share schemes and equity compensation.
My edits will be based on reliable sources so I believe when I edit or fixing errors for articles, I'll add in links to those sources to support my edits. When I have a chance to write my articles, I'll also make sure they are not copied from third parties and have no intent to promote myself or any products or any companies. Also my articles will be sufficiently verified. I understand I'm new to Wiki so I believe I'll start with something easier like fixing typos or verifying info with high-authoritative sources. Let me know your thoughts Global Shares Cork (talk) 20:25, 31 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
I understand. There're other topics that I'd like to edit: Fall protection, safety harness and lanyards, safety helmets & hard hats.
I believe they are not COI related Global Shares Cork (talk) 20:37, 31 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
You will need to make another request for someone else to review. 331dot (talk) 23:42, 31 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
Also, please ensure you place your replies at the bottom of the talk page. This is important so that the discussion appears in the correct chronological order. Thanks. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 00:48, 1 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
Hello, Can I ask how to request someone else to review? Global Shares Cork (talk) 10:32, 1 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
Exactly as you did your first one. 331dot (talk) 10:49, 1 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
Hello, I didn't request anyone to review initially. So, could you please advise? Global Shares Cork (talk) 10:52, 1 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
An unblock request does not request a specific person. It places this page in a category that administrators monitor. If you make another unblock request just as you did your first one, a different administrator will see it. 331dot (talk) 12:50, 1 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
Just do again what you did here, but with a newer statement. 331dot (talk) 12:52, 1 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

If I'm unblocked, I'll make contributions to topics like fall protection, safety harness and lanyards, safety helmets & hard hats. The contributions will include fixing errors and typos, and adding links to reliable sources to support my edits or existing content. I also understand why I'm blocked because my username violates the Wikipedia's username policy as it may imply promoting an organization - Global Shares. I've read the Wikipedia policies again and make sure my content or edits for existing articles are not copied from third parties and do not promote myself or any products or any companies. Also my articles will be sufficiently verified. So far, I have no intention to write anything about Global Shares or topics related to this business

I'm closing this request as stale; you may make a fresh request. 331dot (talk) 09:14, 4 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

I've fixed the formatting errors to allow for proper display. For some reason you had a lot of nowiki tags which prevent display; when making a request for future reference, just copy the request template as you see it when viewing this page, then open the edit window and paste, filling in the information. 331dot (talk) 15:14, 1 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

  • Thanks, but the request I fixed is sufficient. 331dot (talk) 15:26, 1 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
OK! I opened the edit window and pasted the request template there. Please have a look Global Shares Cork (talk) 15:27, 1 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
Thank you. Can I ask what the next steps would be? Waiting for the admin to unblock me? Global Shares Cork (talk) 15:28, 1 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
Yes, another administrator will review this. This may not be immediate, but it will happen. 331dot (talk) 15:39, 1 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for your help so far. Appreciate it=) Have a nice day Global Shares Cork (talk) 15:40, 1 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
Hi there, may I ask if there's any timeline that my account can be reviewed by an admin Global Shares Cork (talk) 13:54, 8 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
There is no time frame, admins are volunteers here in their free time. 331dot (talk) 13:59, 8 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
