Userpage

edit

Your userpage appeared to serve no purpose other than to promote yourself and your work. Userpages are meant to be a place where editors can tell the rest of the community about their activities and interests on Wikipedia, not as social media pages or promotional entries. They are not substitutes for articles. Autobiographical articles are strongly discouraged on Wikipedia, and all biographies should be referenced to prominent independent sources.

On the other hand, you are welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia project as a contributor, especially since Wikipedia's coverage of the visual arts is always in need of improvement. You just can't write about yourself.

Hope this helps. Acroterion (talk) 16:32, 3 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

I'm confused, I see many artists that have Wikipedia pages, and I intentionally modeled mine after others, using the Wikipedia template.

Example: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gary_Simmons_(artist)

This is what I am trying to accomplish. If I'm doing this in the wrong place, please direct me to the appropriate page to create this.

Thanks, Gary Gjspring (talk) 19:13, 3 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

The article you cite has multiple independent sources and meets the notability standards described in WP:ARTIST.If you can provide a similar level of independent sourcing, an article may be possible, but you should not write it. See WP:AUTOBIOGRAPHY for more, as well as WP:COI. In no case should your userspace be used as a substitute for an actual article. Acroterion (talk) 23:26, 3 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
