In reply to your question, you will need to find a topic that is new to Wikipedia, notable, and verifiably referenced. Topics should be appropriate to an encyclopedia, written in accordance with Wikipedia style guidelines, and must assert a level of notability or significance that is not purely local. Local churches, for instance, don't meet notability guidelines, nor do middle schools, for instance. High schools do, however. Wikipedia has more than two million articles, so it's not easy to find a new topic anymore. A better assignment might be to find an article in need of sourcing and editing, and improve it.
