User talk:Girth Summit/My username
Pinging Mr Ernie, FeydHuxtable, Ajraddatz, Femkemilene, Hurricane Noah
Thanks for participating in my RfA, whether in supporting or opposing. Since all of you expressed some reservations about my userpage username during the discussion, I've created this page to provide some background. My intention is to put a shorter statement on my actual userpage, along the lines of 'Girth is not my real name, but is a nickname I go by in real life. Summit is a reference to mountains, which I enjoy climbing when I can find the time. For more discussion of my username, click here.' If you would like to make any further comments or suggestions, please go ahead and I will consider them; if you're no longer interested, by all means please ignore this. - I think that solution achieves a good balance. Thanks for considering it, and congrats on your election! -- Ajraddatz (talk) 15:43, 26 October 2019 (UTC)
- Maybe change the word probably > possibly. Perhaps girth was most commonly used to refer to waistlines 20 years ago, I don't think that's true today. Otherwise, this seems an elegant solution. FeydHuxtable (talk) 17:43, 26 October 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks FeydHuxtable - I really appreciate your input. I've replaced it with 'perhaps', which isn't what you suggested, but I personally think that it's the better word to use in this context - does that meet with your approval? Cheers GirthSummit (blether) 19:26, 26 October 2019 (UTC)
- Sorry, I've just re-read that, and it sounded a bit sarcastic - it wasn't meant to. Please let me know if you're satisfied by that change. GirthSummit (blether) 19:44, 26 October 2019 (UTC)
- I am. Thanks again for being open minded & taking our concerns seriously. FeydHuxtable (talk) 09:22, 27 October 2019 (UTC)
- Girth seems to mainly be used when talking about the male appendage these days by the masses. I just noted the possibilty of it being considered indecent by some. It is ultimately your decision on what to do as your name isn't flat out inappropriate. NoahTalk 21:42, 26 October 2019 (UTC)
