Would you be interested in joining a WikiProject devoted to Lancashire? edit

Hi, I have noticed that you are from Lancashire and I was wondering if you have heard of the new WikiProject group of WikiProject Lancashire and Cumbria. If you are interested in joining please feel free to become a paricipant and help us achive our goals. If you do join I am looking forward to your contributions. 93gregsonl2 (talk) 21:01, 19 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Unfortunately, I'm moving to the dark side in literally five days time. I don't even know if I'll be able to edit Wikipedia when I arrive there. So sadly, I have to refuse your kind offer. GW(talk) 11:13, 21 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Gaz Hock edit

Sorry, thought he had been shelved. Guess you boys are holding his registration for a couple of years and hopefully he will be back then. Sorry for any mistake on my part. Lando09 (talk) 10:54, 21 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Neil Courntey? edit

On the List of Wigan Warriors players article, a Neil Courntey appears in the testimonial section having apparantly been awarded a testimonial in 1956. However, according to wigan.rlfans.com no-one by the name of Neil Courntey has played for Wigan. Although, the similar named Neil Courtney has played for Wigan, this was in the 1980s not the 1950s. Any ideas? DynamoDegsy (talk) 10:35, 17 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
You're right. The reason I made this page was to split off a lot of the prose-less lists in the Wigan Warriors article. I copied the list from the article at the time, but I've made a typo, as shown by this version. I'm puzzled as to why there's a Courtney from the 50s and one from the 80s though. RLP shows a Courtney—he played one match for GB during the 80s.[1] GW(talk) 11:58, 17 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Infobox CCF edit

Hi GW, I've turned Infobox NRLGF into {{Infobox rugby league football match}}, a match infobox for use wherever as we had ended up with 4 versions of the same thing and a need to create a new one for each competition. {{Infobox CCF}} was created by you so I'm hoping you will be fine with me redirecting/requesting deletion of that template. No problems. Good thinking mate. GW(talk) 12:59, 1 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free image (File:Widnes logo 2009.gif) edit

Thanks for uploading File:Widnes logo 2009.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. ZooFari 01:38, 22 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

No opposition from me. A new logo has been uploaded with a transparent background: File:Widnes_logo_2009.png. As a side-note, you may wish to copy the free-use tag from the old image to the new one. I'm not an expert on copyrights, so I can't help. Cheers, GW(talk) 01:43, 22 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
Okay, thanks for letting me know. I've updated the newer version. Would you mind adding {{db-G7}} to the old file page? Just so it can be deleted sooner, since it is redundant. Thanks, ZooFari 01:48, 22 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

I'll start working on some documentation. LunarLander // talk // 19:56, 3 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Good effort. Fair play. I'll start adding them to all Super League team articles as soon as Med School gives me time to have a cuppa tea. GW(talk) 20:35, 3 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

St Helens RLFC edit

I have since the article was last reviewed by Special Windler improved upon it by referencing thoroughly and removing or organising some of the material that Spec. suggested. Would it be possible that you could review the article, I was suggested to you by Lunar Lander who believed it to be of C rating. Lunar would of completed the review but he is not on the review panel at WP:RL. Your constructive suggestions would too be appreciated.

Thanks,

Sure, I acknowledge this request. Given this is the Christmas season though, and I'm not with my own computer in Hull at the current, it may be some while before I review it. Sorry for any frustration that may cause. GW(talk) 13:15, 20 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
No frustration at all, sorry for the inconvenience.
Thanks,

An update on this. I'll start looking over the article now. On first look it may meet the six B-class criteria, so I'll judge the article against those. If it meets B-class, I'll repeat the process with GA standards. It's definitely not GA, but it'll shed light on where the article needs to be improved. GW(talk) 15:00, 15 January 2010 (UTC)Reply
Done. GW(talk) 16:46, 15 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Jmroko (talk) 15:06, 23 December 2009 (UTC) hey, im new to this, and have created a new rugby league player article for the RL project group. Not sure how peer reviews work or how to nominate, but could you review my article "Noel Morgan (rugby league)". thanksReply

Cheers for the effort. However, first look at this article suggests it really doesn't need a full peer review. I'd prefer to be only doing them to help articles reach B-class upwards. That article as it stands would be scraping C-class at best purely because of its size. I'll assess its grade and provide a few comments, though. Welcome to Wikipedia! This might be of interest to you as I remembered you contributed here: Archive 17#Player categories.

South Wales Scorpions edit

can you do that squad box thing where it lists all the players in that box?Youndbuckerz (talk) 01:34, 22 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Done. I've WP:PROD'd Stuart Harvey however. I can't find any information on him on Rugby League Project and there were no references to verify his notability. GW(talk) 15:13, 22 January 2010 (UTC)Reply
I don't think the Stuart Harvey article is about the same person as the South Wales player anyway. GW(talk) 15:15, 22 January 2010 (UTC)Reply
