I don't understand why you are deleting my entry. It's not advertising... it's not even a product. It's a public access (free) TV show with historic cross-references.

Hi Gil. I've done a bit to get the article past the CSD stage. The main points to keep in mind from here are to:
- Make sure that the article is firmly on topic (I've moved some of the content to the "Background" section, but I'm not sure that it all needs to be there, and some careful culling might be in order)
- Keep the article neutral. Anything that can be regarded as spam - like contact information - will get you in trouble, as will anything that reads like an advertisement. (If you choose to hang around for a bit you'll see why - we get huge numbers of advertisements every day, and many editors need to spend a lot of time keeping them under control).
- Add some reliable sources to establish notability. I've added two, and I noticed that there might be others - you need to demonstrate that the show was significant enough to get coverage in good sources. This is partly to make sure that Wikipedia doesn't suffer too badly from bloat (if every garage band that formed added an article - and many try - we'd be in real trouble), and partly because we need to have sources to show that claims are accurate. Which brings me to the last point:
- Try to provide references for almost every significant claim, and certainly every claim that might be questioned. Personally, I love references, but I suspect I'm in the minority. Nevertheless, they solve another danger on Wikipedia, by making sure that (possibly contentious) claims have reliable support, and avoiding the risk of original research.
Generally, I've tried to organise the article a bit, but it isn't ideal - you'll probably want to improve it. It might be worth wandering around to look at some similar articles and see how they approached the problem. - I should have added - there is still a chance that the article will be nominated for deletion. At this point I expect it to be a formal AfD rather than a speedy, but many contested CSD articles go through this process to work out which way community consensus lies. (It may not be nominated at all, of course). The best method of avoiding this is to add references to establish the notability of the show as soon as you can. If it does go to AfD, you generally have five days in which to show that the article fits within Wikipedia, unless it is clearly not going to be kept. So generally the recommendation is to make your case at AfD, then to spend some time working on the article to address the concerns. It might all seem overly complex, and it probably is, but one of the problems we need to cope with is that Wikipedia is one of the most heavily used sites in the world, so a lot of effort is put into keeping the standards as high as possible. It makes it harder to create new articles, but is (hopefully) improving the value of Wikipedia. - Bilby (talk) 12:03, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
