Hi, Gibberish77. This is NOT some automated message...it's from a real person. You can talk to me right now. Welcome to Wikipedia! I noticed you've just joined, and wanted to give you a few tips to get you started. If you have any questions, please talk to us. The tips below should help you to get started. Best of luck!  Chzz  ►  16:39, 24 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

ようこそ
  • You don't need to read anything - anybody can edit; just go to an article and edit it. Be Bold, but please don't put silly stuff in - it will be removed very quickly, and will annoy people.
  • Ask for help. Talk to us live, or edit this page, put {{helpme}} and describe what help you need. Someone will reply very quickly - usually within a few minutes.
  • Edit existing articles, before you make your own. Look at some subjects that you know about, and see if you can make them a bit better. For example, Wikipedia:Cleanup#2009.
  • When you're ready, read about Your first article. It should be about something well-known, and it will need references.

Good luck with editing; please drop me a line some time on my own talk page.

There's lots of information below. Once again, welcome to the fantastic world of Wikipedia!

What's your source for him being on the Nuggets?--Giants27 (c|s) 01:36, 26 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

I was watching the NBA Draft on ESPN and the announcers said he will be traded to Denver because they had like three PGs. I figured he would be traded, and they said to Denver. Even though it wasn't official, I decided, 'Well, I might as well give it a shot', and he ended up getting traded for some international guy the pick before him.

edit

Per WP:CRYSTAL, we don't overhaul articles for roster changes based on unofficial transactions. Please wait for said trades to be officially announced by the teams before making such changes. Thanks. --Madchester (talk) 19:51, 31 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

I'm sorry. I thought i turned it back to it having Arodys Vizcaino, but I guess it didn't. It turns out though that he was part of the Vazquez-Cabrera trade.

Two things.

Proposed deletion of Frank Mata

edit

The article Frank Mata has been proposed for deletion because under Wikipedia policy, all biographies of living persons created after March 18, 2010, must have at least one source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't take offense. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners or ask at Wikipedia:Help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Thanks. I owe you one. Gibberish77 (talk) 00:42, 28 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

I have to say though, that's not a good source. You need to show several reliable sources, otherwise it'll be deleted - and blogs are not reliable sources.  Chzz  ►  00:55, 28 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

How many refs do you expect me to have? Gibberish77 (talk) 01:03, 28 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

There is no specific number, but it's defined as "significant coverage in reliable sources" in the general notability guideline. Opinions vary a bit, and there is the specific WP:ATHLETE guidance too.
Opinions do vary, but there are specific concerns about privacy on biographies of living people if they are not necessarily public figures. Personally, I like to see 3 or more articles (e.g. newspaper) actually about the individual; that seems to be roughly what people want in WP:AFD discussions.  Chzz  ►  01:50, 28 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Cliff Lee

edit

Per WP:CRYSTAL please wait for the transaction to be officially confirmed by the teams before overhauling articles and templates. We don't overhaul articles based on tentative deals - today's earlier Mariners-Yankees "deal" is an example of WP:CRYSTAL's purpose of not "jumping the gun" when reporting sport transactions. --Madchester (talk) 21:45, 9 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

I've been watching MLB Network, I've been surfing the internet, looking at reliable sources, and I'm saying the deal is official. Now I'm not trying to sound all like You're wrong and I'm ABSOLUTELY right, but I certainly think it's a done deal. Gibberish77 (talk) 21:50, 9 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Also, GM Jon Daniels of the Rangers announced in a press conference that the deal with Lee and Lowe to Texas, and Smoak, Beavan, Lueke, and Lawson to Seattle. Gibberish77 (talk) 22:04, 9 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Mark Lowe

edit

I just reverted your edit on Mark Lowe. The reason is because Mark Lowe had season ending surgery back in May while with Seattle, which means he won't play for Texas in 2010 therefore we can't add the Texas Rangers in the infobox. When and if he makes his Texas debut in 2011, then you go ahead and add Texas in the infobox as "Texas Rangers (2011–present). – Michael (talk) 22:42, 9 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

J. A. Happ and Roy Oswalt

edit

Until the trade is officially announced by the teams, it's not official and it's only reported. It could fall through pending physicals or some other changes. Oswalt could change his mind. So we don't add it until it's official. Thanks. — KV5Talk19:43, 29 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Jake Westbrook and Ryan Ludwick

edit

It may sound like I'm disciplining myself, which I am, because I know that I'm not supposed to edit for trades just because they're reported, and I have to wait for the GM to announce it, but come on. It's official. Gibberish77 (talk) 17:01, 31 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Type "Elih Villanueva" in the search box: it will take you to the article "Florida Marlins minor league players", as his name is redirected to a section of that article. Scroll up to the top, and just under the title it will say "redirected from Elih Villanueva". Click on that link, and it will take you to his article. Click on "edit", and replace the redirect with your new version. JohnCD (talk) 14:54, 15 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Nathan Jones (baseball)

edit

The article Nathan Jones (baseball) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

This player has apparently played no professional games at this time beyond the sub-Major leagues. Please reference WP:ATHLETE and WP:OUTCOMES.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. NRI's vs. minor league contracts without invitations

I appreciate your attempts to keep rosters up to date, but please be careful, as you've made a few edits adding players to rosters declaring them as NRI's when the players were in fact signed to minor league contracts but not invited to spring training. Please do not make edits to any baseball rosters unless you have first-hand knowledge of the changes you are making. Why would you go and delete player numbers, adjust positions, etc. just because MiLB.com doesn't have correct information. If you see a discrepancy, do some research and see what is actually correct before you just go in and match whatever that farcical website lists. (saint0wen (talk) 05:40, 8 April 2012 (UTC))Reply

edit

Hi there! Recently you made some changes to the Derek Lowe article. Most of what you did was valuable and was a good case of boldness. In the future, however, if you could reference your sources, especially when mentioning trades, specific dates, stats, etc. that will allow the article to withstand any questions to verifiability! Cheers and happy editing! Zepppep (talk) 06:00, 2 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Just seconding what Zeppep posted above. Please take a moment to provide a ref when you make a change to player status like free agency or new signng -- as you did today with Kyle McClellan and Rob Johnson. It doesn't take long and it saves someone else from having to go back and do it later. Much thanks! Sector001 (talk) 07:27, 14 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Germany national under-20 football team, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Dennis Geiger (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Hi there. :-) Thanks for your additions to Pierre-Yves Hamel. I fixed a few things in the stats table. It seems some of the content you added to the storyline is lacking citations, especially in the Lorient section? Could you please add them?
