Adding foreign names

edit

Please stop adding irrelevant foreign names in Greek cities articles. I perfectly know the rules, and forgive me to say, that there is no "significant" usage of any of the names you keep adding. Not even in Komotini which has a big Greek Muslim population is the Turkish name used. I have lived there for 3 years and I hardly ever heard of anyone calling the city that name. If it used to be called like this during Ottoman times then feel free to add it in the History section. As said again in the past, there are probably many many world cities with much more siginificant foreign speaking populations (London, New York etc) and each foreign speaking population certainly doesnt call London as "London". London is actually a very good example. When 27% of its citizens where born OUTSIDE of the UK, then with your thinking we should certainly add right about 20 different names. Please concider the above and stop adding those names in the lead.Avionics1980 (talk) 19:26, 23 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Not Discussing?

edit

Your accussations that I am not discussing are totally unacceptable. I am discussing. Actually I am doing exactly as you do. Discussing and at the same time reverting. I dont see anything different of what YOU are doing. Avionics1980 (talk) 09:54, 26 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 24 hours for your disruption caused by your engagement in an edit war. During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection. If you would like to be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding below this notice the text {{unblock}}, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. Names

edit

I watched the war between you and Avionics1980 about names of Grek cities. I think the best solution is to create name section. If you read WP:NCGN, it says you can have foreign names either in the lead or in name section. If you have name section, then they shouldn't be in the lead. I think Avionics does not like names in the lead, but I think he is ok with name section. Think about it. 79.167.171.106 (talk) 21:00, 27 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

I don't think it is a matter of taste.. look many article like Istanbul, Cluj-Napoca, Corfu etc.. there are the names in the lead.. But Avionics1980 in articles like Sostis deleted this information: [1]. Is it according to WP:NCGN to go and remove the lead if it inside the article.. Shall we go i.e. in the article of Istanbul and remove the names in lead? Ggia (talk) 22:08, 27 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
