- The problem with the Babel boxes is that the "levels" are subjective. For "1" I've been interpreting it as "I can kind of understand some of it when I read and can, if given enough time, produce a few basic sentences with a moderate number of errors". I don't like the Metric system because it seems cold and sterile to me. I don't have a problem with the French — the few French people I've met have been nice — I just don't particularly care for their language. I'm a fan of Germanic languages.
