Getting started

I'm not even sure I know if this is the correct place to respond, forgive me I'd been posting articles for years this is the first i knew the rules, can you tell me how this works, would you mind? So i should just leave the page alone, then i go into talk and suggest someone else post on the page? Yikes this is beyond confusing, i just wonder why it's been ok for years and now it's just bare bones. I do appreciate your help. What about the New YOrker article about me and my Manny's Virtual Wall, that was there for years and now it's gone, can i get that back? there is a link. what is an orphan page and how do i respond to that? do nothing?????

February 2010 edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Sandi Bachom has been reverted.
Your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline from Wikipedia. The external link you added or changed is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. I removed the following link(s): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LowB0fvAr8I, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m5c-FmHM8ZI (matching the regex rule \byoutube\.com). If the external link you inserted or changed was to a media file (e.g. a sound or video file) on an external server, then note that linking to such files may be subject to Wikipedia's copyright policy and therefore probably should not be linked to. Please consider using our upload facility to upload a suitable media file. Video links are also strongly deprecated by our guidelines for external links, partly because they're useless to people with slow internet connections.
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! --XLinkBot (talk) 03:56, 23 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

License tagging for File:Bachom.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Bachom.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. File copyright problem with File:Bachom w text.jpg edit

Thank you for uploading File:Bachom w text.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Skier Dude (talk 04:23, 29 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Sandi Bachom edit

After looking at that article in more detail, I don't think that Sandi Bachom meets WP:GNG or WP:ENTERTAINER--that is, I don't think she's notable enough for a Wikipedia article. Do you have any independent references that discuss her in detail? If not, I may have to nominate the article for deletion. Qwyrxian (talk) 06:49, 18 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Getreel, you'll need to put the discussion here--the conversation won't work if you delete my comment and put a response in an edit summary. Qwyrxian (talk)

I'm so sorry I don't know how this works, I was invited by Michael Moore to be in his film festival with MY OCCUPY film on Occupy Wall Street. If you feel it isn't appropriate that's fine, i tried to delete it but didn't know how, i don't know how to communicate with you. I didn't mean to delete anything if i did it was an accident. I don't even know if you will get this. I hope so. I guess Wiki has made recent changes I've had a page for years with links to many articles they were all deleted. {{helpme}}PLEASE SOMEBODY HELP ME I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHERE TO REPLY. I don't understand why my page says it's an orphan, can you help me to fix this? I had a page for several years with no issue, i never changed it, may I ask what happened? Thank you.

Ah, I meant that you had deleted my comment here. Here's what I wrote:

":Oh, I actually noticed a bigger problem. Your edit summaries make it clear that you are Sandi Bachom. In that case, you should probably stop editing that article. Per our policies at WP:COI, we strongly discourage people from editing articles about themselves, their employers, etc., because it's nearly impossible for them to edit according to our policies (neutrality, notability, etc.). Assuming the article isn't deleted (I'm going to look into that now), then you should generally just make suggestions on the article's talk page, except for minor changes. Qwyrxian (talk) 15:29, 18 August 2012 (UTC)"Reply

You deleted that, then, in the edit summary, said, "Can you please help me, I am trying to understand Wiki policies, happy to comply, my page was up for YEARS with no problem then all deleted"

Okay, so lets continue that conversation. On the Michael Moore festival, if you didn't actually show there, then it shouldn't be included in the article--we don't report on things that didn't happen like that. The Orphan tag means that other pages don't link to your page; the point behind the tag is to let people know that it would help if other pages linked to yours.
As for your page being up for several years, that actually happens fairly often. Wikipedia has over 4 million articles, so many of them are very rarely looked at. My concern after looking at your page is that there doesn't seem to be any evidence of your notability. Can you please let me know some reliable sources that talk about you or your work? I haven't been able to find any in my own searches. Qwyrxian (talk) 23:08, 19 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

First of all Michael Moore invited me personally to his Traverse City Film Festival 2012, what do you mean if i didn't screen there? my film was part of a program of 3 Occupy Wall Street films and we were given a jury nod for "citizen journalism and the spirit of activism" i included the page but it disappeared. I don't' understand your criteria. honestly are you suggesting my film didn't play there, it's one of the most prestigious film festivals in the country and all films are invited, MY OCCUPY was an official selection.

There also used to be an article in New Yorker magazine called The Wall which i didn't post someone on Wiki posted and that disappeared as well. I know i'm not famous enough for some folks, but these are legitimate substantiated articles. if you don't deem them so, then i don't' understand Wiki at all. Sorry, I did write three best selling books and those seem to be there still.

Sorry for the misunderstanding, i don't' even know if this post is seen by anyone

Here is the page that identifies that MY OCCUPY was screened on August 3 at the Traverse City Film Festival http://secure.traversecityfilmfest.org/WebSales/pages/List.aspx?epguid=743ab825-b205-4aff-afed-dafad039b2ef&cp28=Shorts&cp21=Sandi%20Bachom&

There is also an awards page with my name at the bottom if you need me to send it regarding our jury recognition for our shorts.

Here is the article in The New Yorker about my Manny's Wall which i created and mentions my name http://www.newyorker.com/talk/2009/05/18/090518ta_talk_seabrook

Thank you for your attention. Sandi

Sorry Sandi, I misunderstood what you said before--I didn't know that the "Michael Moore" film festival was the same festival as "Trverse". If you look at your article's page, you'll see that the fourth sentence mentions the #MY OCCUPY screening there. I just took it out of the links section, because it belongs better as an actual explanation in the text. I did, however, remove the New Yorker piece, because it only mentions you in passing. At this point, we still haven't established your notability. Screening at one semi-notable film festival isn't enough in and of itself. Qwyrxian (talk) 09:01, 20 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

FANTASTIC Thank you! What about my New Yorker magazine article, that's huge in US anyway. I've been in MANY film festivals. So may I ask how do i tell you about it, if i receive an award or something, I've received Gold Cannes Lions for my commercials, that's not worthy i know but if i have substantiation do I post on the talk board? Thank you for understanding my confusion, I'm 'starting' to understand how the community works and totally understand and respect the process. Thanks

The Lions awards would be, if I understand correctly, extremely important. Looking briefly at the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival, that seems to be one of the major awards in the advertising field. If you have verification of those awards (that could be something official from their site, or a later publication talking about the awards), we would definitely want to add that to the page. As for other film festivals, it depends basically on which festivals. A good rule of thumb is that if the festival is notable enough to have its own Wikipedia page, then being in it would probably be important enough to be worth mentioning on the Sandi Bachom page.
