Disambiguation link notification for November 18

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited California Proposition 47 (2014), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Georgia. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Arab Spring Request for Mediation

@George Ho: If you'd please, head over to the Wikipedia:Requests_for_mediation/Arab_Winter and agree to mediation. This is the last formality in keeping the Arab Winter article intact. sudopeople 21:44, 19 November 2014 (UTC)

Specifically, you need to state that you "Agree" to the mediation process in the section: Wikipedia:Requests_for_mediation/Arab_Winter#Parties.27_agreement_to_mediation sudopeople 21:57, 19 November 2014 (UTC)

Formal mediation has been requested

The Mediation Committee has received a request for formal mediation of the dispute relating to "Arab Winter". As an editor concerned in this dispute, you are invited to participate in the mediation. Mediation is a voluntary process which resolves a dispute over article content by facilitation, consensus-building, and compromise among the involved editors. After reviewing the request page, the formal mediation policy, and the guide to formal mediation, please indicate in the "party agreement" section whether you agree to participate. Because requests must be responded to by the Mediation Committee within seven days, please respond to the request by 26 November 2014.

Discussion relating to the mediation request is welcome at the case talk page. Thank you.

Request for mediation accepted

The request for formal mediation of the dispute concerning Arab Winter, in which you were listed as a party, has been accepted by the Mediation Committee. The case will be assigned to an active mediator within two weeks, and mediation proceedings should begin shortly thereafter. Proceedings will begin at the case information page, Wikipedia:Requests for mediation/Arab Winter, so please add this to your watchlist. Formal mediation is governed by the Mediation Committee and its Policy. The Policy, and especially the first two sections of the "Mediation" section, should be read if you have never participated in formal mediation. For a short guide to accepted cases, see the "Accepted requests" section of the Guide to formal mediation. You may also want to familiarise yourself with the internal Procedures of the Committee.

As mediation proceedings begin, be aware that formal mediation can only be successful if every participant approaches discussion in a professional and civil way, and is completely prepared to compromise. Please contact the Committee if anything is unclear.

Pretender

Do you realize, George, that "Constantine Diogenes (died 1094)" did not in fact die in 1094? Actually, the most important events in his life occurred in 1095, if the text of our article is to be believed, and in that year he was blinded, but there is no record of his death. It is all well and good to seek a consensus, but isn't it rather absurd to knowingly keep the article at an inaccurate title in the meantime? Everyking (talk) 22:12, 6 December 2014 (UTC)

The page was moved without consensus, so I had to revert. We must still wait for an administrator to decide on the RM. --George Ho (talk) 22:19, 6 December 2014 (UTC)
Could you identify the users who want this page stuck at an inaccurate title until some undetermined point in time when someone identifies a consensus? We really need to talk to these people. Everyking (talk) 22:31, 6 December 2014 (UTC)
Why not move to Constantine Diogenes (died 1090s)? I read comments, and there is not yet a consensus for "pretender" yet. --George Ho (talk) 22:33, 6 December 2014 (UTC)
We don't know when he died. He might have died after the 1090s. I certainly did not claim there was a consensus for "pretender", but I figured at least that title is accurate, and discussion could then continue without me having to fret that the article's title was misleading people. I don't really care much what the title is, as long as it's factual. Everyking (talk) 22:37, 6 December 2014 (UTC)
I'll propose alternatives at the discussion then. --George Ho (talk) 22:39, 6 December 2014 (UTC)

A Boy was Born

You say above that you "may not understand nuances of a conversation", therefore straightforward: my enjoyment of Christmas 2013 was lessened by the discussion of the article name not following the composer's version and most sources for the article. Do you want to do that to me again? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:56, 8 December 2014 (UTC)

What do you want me to do? Why so mellow over what you consider dumbing down English or something like that? Look, there's nothing I can do about the consensus. Perhaps you have a family, right? Is that what Christmas is about, spending holidays with a family? Or is that Chanukkah (HAA-NUH-KUH)? --George Ho (talk) 21:03, 8 December 2014 (UTC)
For me Christmas - family or not - is the celebration that a boy was born. The article was meant to be my Christmas present to all. I failed. Makes me unhappy every time I think of it, every time it comes up on my watch list that is. I try to let go, - tell a mother to let go of her child ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:25, 8 December 2014 (UTC)
(I hope it looks humourous or sarcastic, not serious) Probably you can try to convert yourself to Judaism and figure out who is a Jew. (If my "humour" isn't well executed, perhaps looking at c:Category:Puppies would do.) --George Ho (talk) 21:35, 8 December 2014 (UTC)

Oh... can you read Hebrew alphabets and pronounce them? The New Testaments were written by either ancient Greeks or Latin people; the Old Testaments, by the ancient Israelites. ... Okay, perhaps we shouldn't violate WP:NOTSOCIALNETWORK. --George Ho (talk) 21:57, 8 December 2014 (UTC)

George, I'm not calling the hacker a terrorist. The 'threat,' however, is of a terrorist nature... thus the use of "terrorist threat" as the sub-heading. But instead of bickering over this... whatever.HafizHanif (talk) 04:29, 20 December 2014 (UTC)
