Edit summaries edit

Hi there. When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field. If you are adding a section, please do not just keep the previous section's header in the Edit summary field – please fill in your new section's name instead. Thank you. Hit Quarters links edit

Hi, I have reverted your addition of the Hit Quarters external link to Sire Records as linkspam.diff I looked at the link and found the information minimal and any further info took one through a paywall. I do see that you have added several such. If you were a new user, or a single purpose account, this would be open and shut - see #5 on WP:LINKSTOAVOID. However I also see that you an editor of good standing making many valuable contributions to label articles with a very low reversion rate. So I give you the opportunity here to justify the inclusion of the Hit Quarters links, which I will take into account and, possibly, undo my reversion. Hello. I can understand why you would consider these links to be problematic and I appreciate you giving me chance to justify my actions. My reasoning is that although the site uses a partial paywall, the information the links are said to provide – namely a updated list of the A&R team for that particular record company – is still accessible to all users. Who is currently working with the artists at a label is actually very valued information to many music artists/fans because and these details are very hard to come by on the web without obtaining a dedicated directory, which is unecessary for non-professionals. One potential idea would be to list the A&R on the Wiki page itself but this would be too specialist and also as the staff are constantly moving around this would be difficult to keep updated. Providing the information in the "External links" section is an ideal answer. The links I've added provide regularly updated lists of the current A&R team for a particular label – along with their company position, breakthrough credits, current artists etc. – and therefore provide the most accurate, up-to-date "open" source for this information on the web. It is just very unfortunate for justifying its inclusion on Wikipedia that there is a paywall section to these pages containing the company address and email, particularly given that this information is actually much less important; if anyone wants to contact the label then address and telephone numbers are on the official website and they use a standardised email address system. If this is still not acceptable by Wiki standards then it is disappointing because I think I am providing valuable and valued information but I would accept your judgement without question. If you have any queries then please let me know. --Geoff Whistle (talk) 10:06, 15 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Proposed deletion of Shamora Crawford edit

The article Shamora Crawford has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Does not satisfy WP:BASIC. Been in CAT:NN for almost 12 years.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. – DarkGlow • 19:45, 2 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
