Help request edit

Hi, I made a trivial edit on the 'Nudibranch' page, 5 March 2014, and then it was reversed 12 minutes later by an editor. My change was changing a verb to plural to agree with the plural subject. The editor in reverting claimed it was a singular subject. Maybe I'm out of date, I learned grammar in 1940's & 1950's, and believe that if an 'and' appears in the subject phrase, that means two things are being discussed, which makes a plural subject. But I notice in commercial print, this rule is often violated, maybe by assuming the two things are in fact just one thing. It just irks me! I didn't re-make my edit, getting in a fight over such a trivial thing is unseemly. Do you have any words of wisdom? Thanks, Jerry Geodejerry (talk) 05:02, 6 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

You were right but the text was poorly written. Hopefully, I've now fixed it. Cheers,  Philg88 talk 07:08, 6 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hi, again, I made a change that will almost certainly be reversed, not least because I unthinkingly made it in the wrong space. The change was to introduce in the "milpa" article a different take on the origin of the town name "Milpitas". This change should have been made, if at all, in the "Milpitas, California" page. But I'm not quite sure, still being a neophyte editor, what to do to move the change to the correct page; and maybe also flag it as something requiring the oversight of an editor with more experience. I will appreciate any help here...(Geodejerry (talk) 17:03, 6 September 2022 (UTC))Reply

I've reverted your edit at Milpa. In general, when you add something like that to Wikipedia, you need to include a citation to a reliable source. That's because everything needs to be verifiable. See WP:V and WP:RS. GA-RT-22 (talk) 17:26, 6 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
Got it. I knew that! I am often unaware of where my information comes from. I'll search around, and if I find a source, I'll get back to you about how to write my reference.
