Speedy deletion nomination of Articles for creation/Christiane Robbins

edit

Hello GeoLewis,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Articles for creation/Christiane Robbins for deletion, because it seems to be inappropriate for a variety of reasons.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Mr RD 14:58, 10 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

I moved this out of the name space. In any event, it was misplaced there. This was tagged for deletion as promotional. Please, please rewrite with a neutral point of view. This needs to be sourced--

Articles require
significant coverage
in reliable sources
that are independent of the subject.

Significant coverage
We need references that discuss the subject – directly, in detail. Not just passing mentions, directory listings, or any old thing that happens to have the name in it. And we need several references - not just one. These sources show that the subject is notable.
Reliable sources
We need sources generally trusted to tell the truth. Major newspapers. Factual, widely-published books. Or other high-quality mainstream publications which are careful about fact-checking and accuracy. Not: forums, fansites, MySpace, Facebook, or most blogs. Good sources make the text verifiable.
Independent
Nothing written by the subject or paid for by the subject. Not their website. Not a press release. Primary sources aren't enough: we require something independent.
A useful search tool--Wikipedia Reference Search
When you have fixed the problems, please submit for a review. Thanks, Dlohcierekim 15:14, 10 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

the article is at Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Christiane Robbins. I re-reviewed it informally. She is almost certainly notable, but the article still needs rewriting. Needs focus on the important parts of the career, clear statement on factual matters such as the professorship, removal of external links to her projects, removal of all adjectives of praise & importance, inclusion of substantial reviews from 3rd party independent published reliable sources, print or online, but not blogs or press releases, or material derived from press releases. adjectives of praise, See also , Dlohcierekim's comments above, all of which are very much to the point.

If you write it properly it will be accepted, but not otherwise. Let me know on my talk p. when you think it's ready. DGG ( talk ) 01:54, 13 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
