2009 GP2 Series season

edit

As a native speaker of German, could you per chance possibly translate the article that shows Yelmer Buurman as a 2009 signing for ORT. On his official website, there is a statement saying "It is exciting to race for this brand new team and I will do my best to impress Tiago and José Guedes enough to stay in his team as one of the race drivers for 2009." which says to me that he hasn't signed. Regards. Cs-wolves(talk) 18:36, 19 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Ok, I'm going to translate it and than I post it on this page.--Gamma127 (talk) 19:35, 19 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
Translation:

Monteiro-Team: First cockpit goes to Buurman

The new Ocean-GP2-Team owned by Tiago Monteiro has signed the Dutch Yelmer Buurman as their first pilot.

The new Ocean-GP2-Team by Tiago Monteiro has announced their first driver. In the coming season the Dutch Yelmer Buurman is going to drive for the new GP2-Team. Moreover he is going to challenge the rest of the GP2-Asia-Season for the Team. Monteiro has recently bought the former BCN team and renamed it in Ocean.

Buurman drove the first half of the 2008-GP2-Season for Arden International, but was replaced by Luca Filippi. In the new Superleague Formula he represented the colours of PSV Eindhoven. The Dutch is already going to start in the GP2 Asia for Ocean in Dubai next week.

"It’s great to drive for this brandnew team. I’ll give my best to impress Tiago and his joint owner Jose Guedes", Buurman said. "I thank Tiago for giving me a new chance in the GP2 after my successful season in the Superleague. My first races in the GP2 Asia last year were very good – in Dubai I reached a podium-position. I hope to repeat this success with Ocean. Tiago showed me his plans and I believe that the new team is soon going to be part of the top teams. "

Monteiro called Buurman "a great driver with lots of potential" who well fits in his project. "He’s fast and already has a lot of knowledge in formula racing. He is very motivated and works strong. He is the kind of personality Ocean needs", Monteiro said.

I tried my best to translate it well, I hope you can understand it.--Gamma127 (talk) 20:35, 19 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Yeah, I can understand it well. The only thing that makes me a bit questionable is the fact that it is the only article that has this "confirmation" that Buurman has signed. No other major motorsport-related website has the confirmation that Buurman or even Crestani have signed for ORT for the 2009 season. I just think it's best to not have it announced on the page in case that particular website is wrong. I do remember them having Nicolas Hülkenberg confirmed some weeks before his actual confirmation, so until we find a second source, it's best to not have Buurman in the article. Cs-wolves(talk) 20:44, 19 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, that's really questionable. Maybe the page has got wrong informations about Buurman. "In the coming season the Dutch Yelmer Buurman is going to drive for the new GP2-Team." can also mean, that he is going to drive the races in the GP2 Asia. About Crestani and him having no contract with ORT, I wrote something on the discussion page of the 2009 GP2 Series season article.--Gamma127 (talk) 21:22, 19 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
And then there's Petrov and Grosjean - neither of them I've seen signing for Campos except for that Russian site. I think the only drivers confirmed are Rodríguez, Hülkenberg, Maldonado, Zuber and Valsecchi. Cs-wolves(talk) 21:30, 19 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
Well, that's another problem. I agree to your opinion. It would be good to read an translation of the Russian article. Maybe it woud be better to remove them from the 2009 GP2 Series season article.--Gamma127 (talk) 21:39, 19 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
Another problem is Edoardo Mortara. Their is no reference about him driving for Arden. 2008–09 GP2 Asia Series season--Gamma127 (talk) 21:45, 19 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
That one has been reverted. I've not seen anything about that at all. This website seems to have some drivers confirmed, although Chandhok is unconfirmed at iSport, I've not seen anything about either driver at DAMS being confirmed but apart from that, everything is in order. Cs-wolves(talk) 22:01, 19 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
That website has many drivers, but the most are unconfirmed. The drivers at DAMS, I think that both are going to drive at DAMS next season, but it's not yet confirmed, expected the website has more informations. On motorsport-total.com was an article about Sears, who said, that all teams are waiting what happend to Senna and Honda(, so maybe although some are waiting for di Grassi). And today Grosjean was confirmed as third driver at Renault F1, so maybe he won't drive in the GP2 Serie.--Gamma127 (talk) 22:14, 19 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

(outdent) I know that Kobayashi is going to be third driver at Toyota, so it wouldn't necessarily rule out Grosjean for a GP2 drive yet. I had to do something similar to the World Series by Renault page, as most drivers were unconfirmed. As you say, it all depends on Senna/di Grassi/Honda. I think we should keep it to the five confirmed so far. Cs-wolves(talk) 22:21, 19 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Yeah, you're right. The five drivers are really confirmed. I removed the "unconfirmed" drivers also from the German page.--Gamma127 (talk) 22:36, 19 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

New drivers

edit

I have heard absolutely nothing on any of those drivers and those teams. Is there anything on the German motorsport websites, because Autosport.com nor Crash.net have a thing about any of those drivers? I'm definitely not convinced with them changes as that website seems once again to be the only place to have this information. Cs-wolves(talk) 18:42, 11 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

No, on the German motorsport websites are no articles about anyone of them. Maybe that website placed some rumours about the drivers. But what about Kobayashi and d'Ambrosio? Are they going to drive for DAMS again? Is it possible, that both have a two-years contract like Clos with Racing Engineering.--Gamma127 (talk) 19:01, 11 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
I think that DAMS will probably announce the drivers soon, reconfirming Kamui and Jerome. They'll announce it rather than keep it quiet. Cs-wolves(talk) 19:04, 11 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Re:Fastest lap

Absolutely correct. Just happened to check the GP2 website and it said Pérez. ;) Cs-wolves(talk) 13:47, 20 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

2009 World Series by Renault season

edit

Kudos for putting a more appropriate description on the discussion page. My German isn't anywhere near that standard. Also, kudos for spotting User:Cybervoron's mistake on Marsoin, that I hadn't noticed for nearly a month! Regards. Cs-wolves(talk) 16:14, 9 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Re:Formula 3000

edit

Yeah, I count Super Nova to have a 12-point advantage over RSM Marko. However, I think the team champion relates to the team that the driver drove for. Prime example being in the 2002 season: Enge and Wirdheim drove for Arden and got 79 points between them. Whereas, Bourdais' Super Nova only scored 58, yet they are listed. This is why Arden ran 1 and 2 in 2003. I think the team points were irrelevant back then, although my knowledge of Formula 3000 pre-1998 is very limited. Photos on German Wikipedia

edit

Gamma, I've noticed that a few drivers have had photos uploaded onto the German-language Wikipedia, but have not been uploaded on Wikimedia Commons. (Bianchi, Wittmann and Vernay to name three) I know you have a more native lingual ability of German than what I have, so can you enquire this guy to put them onto Commons, for the ability to post on other language versions. Regards. Cs-wolves(talk) 21:12, 1 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Thank you very much for that! :) Cs-wolves(talk) 22:03, 1 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

How do I load them onto Commons? No probs letting German Wiki use them if they want to. Officially Mr X (talk) 16:10, 9 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

User:Froo has done a copy-and-paste move and hence the pages won't move. You'll have to go to WP:RM to get it moved. Although, I'm not too sure of that because I've never done one before. User:Bretonbanquet has more experience with the situation, so I would ask him. Regards. Cs-wolves(talk) 21:05, 7 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

No problem at all! :) Cs-wolves(talk) 21:15, 7 May 2010 (UTC)Reply
The copy-and-paste move means that only an admin can move it. I'll ask at the relevant place and hopefully an admin will make the move for us :) Bretonbanquet (talk) 21:23, 7 May 2010 (UTC)Reply
No problem :) An admin has made the move now - quite fast for a change! Cheers, Bretonbanquet (talk) 22:21, 7 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for spotting that faux pas on Wiki's part, on the page. I did something I don't usually do...I forgot to double check to see if the page size had gone up...and of course it went down because the website decides to piss about. Anyway, danke! Re: 2012 FIA World Endurance Championship and driver nationalities

edit

You say there that Allan Simonsen should have an Australian flag next to his name because he drives under an Australian competition license. He is still a Danish citizen, and if we were to go on racing licenses, people like Andre Lotterer, Benoit Treluyer and Loic Duval would all be racing under a Japanese flag due to Japanese racing licenses, Allan McNish would have a Monegasque racing license... ;) I think we should rather stick to nationalities. Vikirad (talk) 19:48, 29 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Here is the official entry list. Lotterer is still German, McNish British and Treluyer Frensh. --Gamma127 (talk) 20:52, 29 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Instead of using the talk page-use the csd tag and click on duplicate article. (I had it on my watched pages since I tagged it earlier for having no sources) Wgolf (talk) 23:27, 25 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
