Brazilian film lists

Hi. We desperately need to lay out the films by year like Argentine cinema I think. Do you know where I can access a good list (ready made ideally like the Argentine ones on Spanish wiki I copied or a source where I can copy a list of films)? I was thinking of going through and creaitng lists like List of Brazilian films of 1930 etc.♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:29, 22 June 2014 (UTC)

I started the 1930 one. Perhaps I'll do it gradually!♦ Dr. Blofeld 17:16, 22 June 2014 (UTC)

I've reached 1938 with the Brazilian film lists now! I've started João de Deus (actor), can you expand from here?♦ Dr. Blofeld 08:54, 23 June 2014 (UTC)

Excellent! Yeah if you can work on the 80s lists and from more recent I'll plough through the 40s and 50s.. Most of the 2000s lists look like they'd be better off restarted too.♦ Dr. Blofeld 19:16, 23 June 2014 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited List of Brazilian films of 1981, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages John Herbert and Paulo Ramos (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Talk:Ah Boys to Men/GA1

The coming week is quite hectic for me and I may have to take a break from Wikipedia. As I am gradually merging Ah Boys to Men 2 into Ah Boys to Men, I believe the article would be unstable for some time. After the merger, I would still have to address the outdated information and stylistic issues. Unless you can leave the nomination on hold for at least a month (you would have to review the material merged from the other article), I suggest you fail the nomination. If you fail the nomination and I renominate the article a month or two later, would you be willing and able to review the article again? --Hildanknight (talk) 05:15, 4 July 2014 (UTC)

Black Cat

Hello, I can not source that piece from Black Cat because I did not add it. It was added by Tintor2 with this edit[1] in 2009. I actually looked in all of Viz's volumes when I was working on the article a couple months ago, but couldn't find it in there. Xfansd (talk) 01:36, 9 July 2014 (UTC)

Hm, ok. Aside of that, there is nothing more to add to "Production"? Early in this year I started to work to clean up, with also remote possibility to take it to GAN. I couldn't find much on proudction, though; you, Xfansd, gave a great help by adding stuff to the section. Now, the only hindrance I see to a GAN is the reception. It's not difficult, though; threre's a ton of sources at the talk. If I could expand it do you think it can be a GA? Also, would you be able to help me? Gabriel Yuji (talk) 01:57, 9 July 2014 (UTC)
I don't have any more production; all I have is Viz's volumes and I would have added more when I was working on it a couple months ago if I had any. But I'll check them once more. In my opinion it is GA, but I tend to stay away from accessing articles; it seems every time I request reassessment at WP:ANIME/ASSESS, it always ends up being lower than I expected. I'll help where I can, I'll definitely be watching the page and if I see anything like grammar issues I'll jump in. I haven't seen the anime by the way. Xfansd (talk) 02:30, 9 July 2014 (UTC)
No problem, to have your eyes seems enough to me. I don't know when exactly I'll start because the reception is always the hard part to me (that's why I've worked on other sections and stopped abruptly). However, I'll totally need you when I do so as (you may know) I'm not a native so my English is probably not the best. Thanks, Xfansd! Gabriel Yuji (talk) 02:49, 9 July 2014 (UTC)
Hey, Tintor2, could you reply about the info you add? From where you got it? Thanks, Gabriel Yuji (talk) 03:03, 16 July 2014 (UTC)
I've been summoned! I actually saw that in the Japanese version of the book. I didn't know Viz removed it.Tintor2 (talk) 14:03, 16 July 2014 (UTC)
@Tintor2: No problem. Could you cite the volume from which the statement was took from? The chapter and/or the page would be helpful too. Gabriel Yuji (talk) 16:35, 16 July 2014 (UTC)
It was in the final volume during the afterword. Sadly, I don't have access to it right now.Tintor2 (talk) 22:24, 19 July 2014 (UTC)
No problem. We have no deadline. Regards, Gabriel Yuji (talk) 22:27, 19 July 2014 (UTC)

I've found it where Yabuki says "This mark the end of Train's freedom-seeking ride". Well, it's not exactly saying its is the "central theme" but can be useful. Xfansd, the official translation by Viz Media would be better, though; does it include it? Gabriel Yuji (talk) 23:11, 26 July 2014 (UTC)

I didn't see Tintor's comment from July 16. The afterword in Viz's release simply says "Train's journey has now come to an end." Xfansd (talk) 23:27, 26 July 2014 (UTC)
Well, the way it's written in Viz's version doesn't seem so attractive. I'd prefer to remove it... What do you think, Xfansd, Tintor2. Hm... btw, the final of production mentions Yabuki wanted to use Train or Eve in another series... Most fans have noticed the similarity between Eve and Golden Darkness of To Love Ru. Is there any chance of you having any official source on this matter, Xfansd? Gabriel Yuji (talk) 23:40, 26 July 2014 (UTC)
If Tintor can read Japanese and says that the original states Train's journey is the theme, then the Japanese release can be cited for that. I say we remove it and if Tintor (or anyone else) is ever able to verify it at a latter date, it could always be added again. I know nothing about To Love Ru and have no material on it. But considering he said that he wanted to use them again, their similar appearance and the fact that Golden Darkness was created by a Tearju Lunatique (who also looks identical), I don't see how there could be any doubt. Xfansd (talk) 00:05, 27 July 2014 (UTC)
1) Yeah, for sure. 2) Even if it's explict we need a source; sadly, none of use have... I'll try to look for it some day. Thanks, Gabriel Yuji (talk) 00:19, 27 July 2014 (UTC)

Monk: Adversaries

That does it....

...I have NEVER seen a more stuck-up, snobbish website than Wikipedia. I'm sorry... but it infuriates me. Screw the invalidity claim of 'original research'... it is nothing but bullshit. I read those MONK books with my own eyes... and everything listed in the 'Adversaries' section regarding Dylan Swift and Ian Ludlow is accurate. Everything documented is the truth, whether anyone here at Wikipedia acknowledges it to be so or not. You can either choose to acknowledge it or not acknowledge it... but it is still the truth. Wikipedia's Policy, however strict these puffed up snobs like to brag about, did not 'SPEAK' Adrian Monk into existence, and laid out the foundational laws of the world Andy Breckman created. Nor did Lee Goldberg bow before Wikipedia's Policy and consulted WIKIPEDIA when he wrote those 'Monk' novels.

My own area of expertise happens to be in writing and story structure, this includes all terminology that any professional writer studies: Plot twists, Pinches, Tropes, Character Arcs, and Character descriptions. If you (the people who run this site) are that much against original research, you would do well to wipe out the pages of every famous pioneer who ever lived. You should get rid of the pages about Thomas Edison, Alexander Graham Bell, Orville and Wilbur Wright, Benjamin Franklin, George Lucas, Pixar Animation Studios, and possibly even Walt Disney. ALL of these men had their hand in original research, prior to becoming famous.

If ANYONE at Wikipedia has a problem with the info regarding Monk's adversaries, pick a bone with the author, Lee Goldberg, and let HIM tell you. Otherwise, stop lording this holier-than-thou-art policy over everyone's heads. Given my experience on this site, if I ever met someone in person who expressed an interest in joining Wikipedia, I would do everything possible to talk them out of it. It simply is not worth the effort.

Wikipedia is NOT a community of friends... it is an Oligarchy made up of elitist snobs. I'm sorry to have sent such a message, but nevertheless... it is ABOUT TIME that somebody did. Good day.

Gunsmith Cats

I don't think I use British English as such, more a mix of the two. I guess how obvious that is depends on the article. Thats one reason why I generally don't try to do any serious copy editing. The exception is if I'm quoting, I'll use whatever spelling is in the original (assuming it's not a typo). As for dates, I always use, full MDY for consistency, even in references and will change short forms when working on an article. It's not an especially British subject so I assume British spelling/dates if used will probably be corrected manually or via AWB etc. GSCats is the perfect example of the sort of page where short form dates can be confusing (three regions) and for long form it's better to use MDY for consistency.SephyTheThird (talk) 07:30, 14 July 2014 (UTC)

Regarding Mr. Monk Takes Manhattan

I'm going to take a much better look at it tomorrow to make the prose more succinct, but I tried to trim some of the fat in the plot section as per your request to the copy editors. Barring the second sentence, which needs some sort of punctuation/rewording, the plot flows a little better. If you disagree with me shaving an entire paragraph don't be afraid to let me know.

Merging character lists?

Why are you merging character lists? This makes the main articles too focused on plot and get the relevant real-world information. Also, they have always been considered appropriate spin-out articles by the WikiProject and that condenses has not changed. —Farix (t | c) 04:42, 10 August 2014 (UTC)

Unless you have a project-wide consensus to merge the character lists, I insist that you don't do any more and ask you to undo the mergers that you made. This is not an area to engage in maverick actions without gaining a consensus first. —Farix (t | c) 05:05, 10 August 2014 (UTC)

Help: Akira

I'm working on the article Akira (manga). A user, TheFarix, has stated that the genres for the manga need to be sourced in the infobox. While I understand his 'original research' excuse, I basically assumed that genres should be a given, as pretty much all Wikipedia articles on anime and manga that I've seen, including GA-class articles, don't seem to need references for genres. Also, he and another user have pointed out that the plot summary is too long. Although it does exceed the 700-word limit on plot summaries, I don't think it's excessively detailed given the length of the manga (and given the fact that creating an article devoted entirely to the manga volumes and summaries of each would be overdoing it, since the volumes are very tightly connected plot-wise in comparison to other manga). I put each volume's summary under an individual subheading and tried to pass them off as separate summaries, but the argument still persists. Any help? PatTheMoron (talk) 10:18, 3 September 2014 (UTC)

@PatTheMoron: I don't know about the plot because I've never read it (but it's seems okay although is not the usual formatting). And, OR isn't an excuse; however, I guess you probably already have the sources you need in the article itself, and you just must to point them out. Also, it's preferrable to request opinions at WT:ANIME than on specifically user's talk pages. Cheers, Gabriel Yuji (talk) 18:18, 3 September 2014 (UTC)

The Wind Rises

Hello, I'm Chyhchang. I noticed that you had removed Historic Aircraft section under Production in The Wind Rises, with the reason that it is not relevant. I appreciate you to spend time to review and edit this article, but I don't agree with your edit that removes this section. This film features the historic person who designed those aircraft, and they are depicted as the subjects of the scripts as told by characters in the film, not just sitting in the background. I have source document from Studio Ghibli that identifies those aircraft used by Miyazaki in the film. You may have removed the section because I have not added the reference of the source document. I would like to reinstate Historic Aircraft section and add their reference to make a strong case. But I like to hear your thought first. Chyhchang (talk) 06:41, 28 September 2014 (UTC)

Mushishi

Hello,

About the title chosen by Aniplex USA, here's the logo: http://www.aniplexusa.com/mushishi/ . Googling around gives a fair amount of other hits. Seems "The Next Chapter" was picked when the announcement was first made, but the subtitle later changed. Both Hulu and Daisuki use "Next Passage" as well, but it seems Crunchyroll apparently didn't get the memo.

Also, it would seem the English translation of the manga uses "Mushishi", whereas the official English translations of the animated adaptations and the live action movie use "Mushi-Shi".

As for the airing dates, "October 22, 2005, at 27:40" = "October 23, 2005, at 3:40 AM". Since you're not specifying anything else regarding when exactly the various series and specials aired, it seems to me it's more accurate to give those dates.

Finally, about the number of episodes in the second series. Apparently, the original plan was to air the remaining 22 stories as 24 episodes (two of those stories were "two-parters"). But the episodes that were supposed to be numbered "11" and "12" were aired as one (unnumbered) special instead, and those 10 episodes + special are now considered "the first half" of the series. So, at this point, it's hard to tell how many episodes long the second series will be exactly, in the end. Will the second two-parter story be aired as two episodes, meaning we'd have a total of 22 episodes (+ one special)? Will it be aired as another special, meaning we'd have a total of 20 episodes (+ two specials)? The latter seems more likely to me, considering the former would mean airing one last episode in January (i.e. the next cours), but this is all speculation at this point. Hence why I think it would be wiser to simply indicate how many episodes have actually aired for the time being. Erigu (talk) 10:04, 16 November 2014 (UTC)

Just to be clear, I agree with you on this. Which is why I had been changing them as and when I could. Some have been easier than others. However the page has reached the point where it will need a complete rewrite due to the amount of announcements since it was last reworked combined with the existing complexity of the franchise. However it's difficult to do so with the amount of spin off articles that either need to be reworked or simply written to begin with. The entire Game section is problem as well due to its reliance on gamefaqs. It's rather difficult to know where to focus on these articles, most of the TV specials are notable too. SephyTheThird (talk) 22:25, 26 November 2014 (UTC)

Actually quite a few of them are easy to change, they are just hard to spot because of the size of the article. I'll get on it asap. SephyTheThird (talk) 22:35, 26 November 2014 (UTC)
Down to 13 left, and most of those are replaceable or can be removed after some rewrites. The rest I'll remove if I can't verify them . SephyTheThird (talk) 00:43, 27 November 2014 (UTC)

Lord Marksman and Vanadis

Hi. I'm thinking about working on the Lord Marksman and Vanadis article and its characters article so we can get it up to at least a B-Class or GA. I contacted User:AngusWOOF and User:KirtZJ for their thoughts as well as WT:ANIME on the matter. However, I may need some help on finding sources and information regarding the creation and reception of the series. Do you mind if we should join forces? Thanks, Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 00:28, 11 December 2014 (UTC)

Well, Sjones23, I don't mind; I always like to help, even more when it's a GA attempt. I only have to say that I could hardly help with characters since I'm not familiar with the series, and the same goes for creation since I'm not fluent in Japanese (I mean, the series is recent and only the anime came to NA). I'll look for English sources for reception and probably only on the anime because it's the only media released in English. I'll take a look at the article and see what I can improve with my own hands but I'll more likely only do advices or minor edits. I agree with KirtZJ, regarding the episode list. The light novel and manga listing (the latter even doesn't exists) could be separeted too. Gabriel Yuji (talk) 01:19, 11 December 2014 (UTC)
