Animal cognition article

Hi. Welcome to Wikipedia and I'm happy to offer advice and help with your edits on Animal Cognition. There is a sentence which you have inserted “Thorndike’s animals could only escape by chance at first because their structure did not permit other kinds of situations.” [75]. This is a direct quote so I have not changed it, but it does not seem to make sense - have a couple of words been missed out? Happy editing__DrChrissy (talk) 22:16, 5 March 2013 (UTC)

Regarding the quote in Animal Cognition: You have done the correct thing by placing the sentence in quotation marks and attributing the original author. If you edit the sentence in anyway, remove the quotes and unless you considerably change the sentence or the information it conveys, leave the accreditation in. Also have a look at WP:Quotations. Edits: I noticed under the definition for Animal cognition, you wrote; "Animal cognition is the study of the mental capacities of non-human animals" instead of having "non-human animals, i just put "animals" since the main topic is addressing animals.
