If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL-self}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. Image copyright problem with Image:DWCarial.jpg edit
Thanks for uploading Image:DWCarial.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).
The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.
Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. - Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

Request reason:
I should read my messages. I was not aware of multiple warnings about adding information about my history of DeWitt Clinton High School. I would not have continued to add them if I knew I were going against policy. I would like some clarification. Some entries on Wikipedia include bibliographies in which the books listed are not totally about the person in the entry. For example, the entry on George Cukor contains books in which Cukor is only one of many people discussed in the books. George Cukor attended DeWitt Clinton HS. He is discussed in my book. Should I not be able to list my book? Was my mistake that I should have put my book in a Bibliography category and not as an external link. I have also added a considerable amount of material to the DeWitt Clinton HS entry. I feel that citing my book there would be valid. I did not mean to spam. A lot of famous people attended DWC HS and are discussed in my book. I was not seeing my entries as spam. But if they were, I apology and hope that I can be reinstated and that some acceptable way to reference my book can be found. Gerard Pelisson

Indefinite! Sort of like purgatory. Never knew I was such a bad guy. As for the Wikepedia article on DeWitt Clinton High School, the notable alumni Harold Baer, Edward Bernstein, Stephen Buckley, and Leonard Davis are linked to the wrong people. I don't know if any of the Cukor books in his bibliography should be removed. They all invite the reader to learn more about Cukor.

If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.
If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.
