Can you confirm that this user is one of your students? I have warned him/her about copyright problems on Working in Canada. Abelmoschus Esculentus 15:02, 20 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Abelmoschus Esculentus: Thanks for the update and for reaching out. Unfortunately, because of Canada's freedom of information and privacy act, I can't confirm whether or not a someone is a student of mine.

The whole Working_in_Canada page needs to be merged with the Canadian_jobs_bank page - see the talk page. If I do that, will it wipe out the history of the working in Canada page, thereby getting rid of the copyrighted material? Or do I need to wait for an administrator to fix the copyright problem? Feel free to ignore these questions - you probably have better things to do on your Saturday than help a Wikinewbie. Fwoolley (talk) 17:20, 20 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

In case you don’t know, merging two articles will also merge the edit histories of both articles as well. The copyrighted material can still be seen. However, I have requested to delete the revision which contains the copyrighted material. (WP:REVDEL) Once the {{revdel}} template is placed, an administrator will review it and may revdel the revisions. Abelmoschus Esculentus 01:44, 21 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Managing a conflict of interest

edit

  Hello, Fwoolley. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Frances Woolley, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Please do not edit articles about yourself or people you may know. Elysia (Wiki Ed) (talk) 20:26, 8 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
