List of members of the International Ice Hockey Federation edit

Thanks for the update of "List of members of the International Ice Hockey Federation." Could you please see my comments at Talk:List of members of the International Ice Hockey Federation, and leave a response there? I think you could help. Thanks. Flibirigit (talk) 17:05, 11 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

  • Thanks for creating {{IIHFnation}}. I will add each of these members to {{IIHF}}. Let me know if I omit any. Flibirigit (talk) 15:39, 18 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
    • I figured it was easier to bold the link to the list. Flibirigit (talk) 15:42, 18 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Featured Topic Drive

By Maxim

The original featured topic drive, initiated by Scorpion0422, has concluded succesfully. National Hockey League awards is now a featured topic, with 24 articles in total. Of them, 20 are featured lists, one is a featured article, and the other three are trophy articles that were too short to become featured lists. Eight users signed up to help out, shown here. The next Featured Topic hasn't been decided upon, and the ideas and organization for it fell apart. If you have any ideas, don't hesitate to share them at WT:HOCKEY.

Notes
  • More editors are needed to help out with the newsletter. The newsletter creator doesn't have an infinite nor perfect supply of ideas, and thus he might omit some interesting news.
  • Portal:Ice hockey is being considered for featured status.
  • Should Chris Pronger have been suspended for more than eight games for stomping on Ryan Kesler? Vote here!

Stevens' Devils captaincy edit

Hello FNJG. You may have noticed at Scott Stevens, I've changed back the Devils captain succession box to read 1992 to 2004. This is how it's done at Steve Rucchin, Shawn McEachern, Michael Peca, Mark Messier and Al MacInnis. -- GoodDay (talk) 23:11, 8 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Re: Scott Stevens edit

Anthony,

Great article! I'm continuously amazed at the work put in by Devils fans on Wikipedia. I don't have the time at the moment to do a thorough read-through, but a few quick suggestions:

  • I'm not a fan of the main image (and it's not just because G-dub inspires disgust). For a person who doesn't know who Scott Stevens is, this image is not very specific to Stevens. If you can't find any good images, search around Flickr for free ones.
  • Come up with a better organizational scheme. Look around the hockey player FAs like Martin Brodeur and Wayne Gretzky. It looks like these have an "NHL Career" section, for example.

Keep me updated and let me know what the GA reviewer comes up with! JHMM13(Disc) 19:43, 15 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Re: List of New Jersey Devils head coaches edit

Hi.

You have reinstated the links from years in the List of New Jersey Devils head coaches article, linking to NHL seasons. As the dates are obviously calendar dates, it's equally obvious that they relate to calendar years, isn't it? And so they should not link to a season, should they? In my view, that becomes obvious when one removes the date links. "May 15 of 1991-92 NHL season" doesn't sound right, does it?

Which season is a date in July?

Regards

LarRan (talk) 13:41, 27 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

I understand your comments. However, as Wikipedia: Ice Hockey protocol controls the page, I believe it is standard operating procedure to link to the appropriate seasons. If you see the other head coaches featured lists, with one exception they link to the season. I have opened a discussion on the Ice Hockey project page to confirm this. I am notifying you that if I receive confirmation of my suspicion, I will be reinstating the links to the seasons, and request that you no longer remove them. I hope we can come to an understanding on this dispute. Anthony Hit me up... 15:06, 27 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
I wouldn't go so far as to call it a dispute, and I haven't reverted the reinstated links. But thanks for notifying me. I think I'd like to follow that discussion. Do you have a link to it?

Disputed non-free use rationale for Image:LandofConfusionscreenshot2.JPG edit

Thank you for uploading Image:LandofConfusionscreenshot2.JPG. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stifle (talk) 10:48, 31 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Re: Scott Stevens (2) edit

Hey, how have you been? I realize this is a bit late (almost a year late), but I felt I should respond anyway. Nice work on the Stevens article, it turned out very well. Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, I just didn't have much time to get on here. Hopefully now I will have some extra time so I can start getting on here more often again. Now, if only I could remember how to do pretty much anything....it's a learning process all over again BsroiaadnTalk 18:32, 12 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Anne Hathaway edit

We don't list films in the filmography unless they are in an active phase of production or there is a valid source accompanying the future role. In this case, there is a valid source for the role. In other words, it is NOT "pure speculation at this point and will be removed". Please consult appropriate WikiProjects regarding when something "will be removed". Thank you. Wildhartlivie (talk) 18:48, 17 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

I see no reason to get snippy about this. Maybe your sports pages follow a different letter of verifiability. In any case, the sources verifies that Hathaway has been tapped to play a role in the film, and your pronouncement that it is speculative and "will be removed" flies in the face of our guidelines, which state that a role must be verified by a source if not already listed and in production. Thanks for your snippy little note, though. Wildhartlivie (talk) 03:25, 19 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
I do understand, thanks. I've had people say "I can hear your tone" which often bewilders me. Wildhartlivie (talk) 15:52, 22 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

IIHF Junior Rosters edit

Speaking frankly I don't think birth location and physical dimensions add much value, and I think it looks cluttered and dated. Perhaps a bit blunt, but I don't understand why you would want to spend so much time altering the rosters for some 30 odd years when they serve there function already. It'd be a lot of work! I know from doing the more simplistic roster we have now. I will ask you to reconsider. Slaja (talk) 03:32, 22 January 2010 (UTC)Reply
