Jared Geist

edit

A tag has been placed on Jared Geist, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group or service and which would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam.

If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Baccyak4H (Yak!) 19:43, 28 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi Sixers. I am replying here to your message on my Talk page.

I admit, after seeing what you are trying to do, that the word "spam" may be too negative, and the big box at the top of the Geist page pretty intimidating. Please do not take any of this personally, as I can see you are trying to constructively contribute. Here is the problem, as I see it, in a nutshell. The page you are making is in essence a public service announcement. That is laudable, but Wikipedia is not a place for those. As for the specific "spam" tag, the page, when I tagged it, read like a political advertisement, for better or worse (that is, it did not read like an attack article), and thus is not appropriate as written.

What I might suggest is to write an article about the school district itself (if there is not already one), or the board, or even this particular election, but note that those suggestions are in decreasing order of notability. Then you may be able to merge the candidate info into the main article. I am not endorsing the eventual notability of any of those articles, merely stating that those types of articles are appropriate in Wikipedia.

I apologize if you find this experience discouraging, and I can fully understand how you might; I hope you will persevere nonetheless. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help. Baccyak4H (Yak!) 21:15, 28 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Greg Rassel

edit

I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Greg Rassel, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Irene Besancon

edit

The article Irene Besancon has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done because the article seemed to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it did not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert notability may be deleted at any time. If you can indicate why the subject is really notable, you are free to re-create the article, making sure to cite any verifiable sources.

Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and for specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. NawlinWiki 14:25, 2 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
