We can't block the range, but if you want the articles semi-protected, bring it up at WP:RFPP, there are quite a few pages ;) - FrancisTyers · 08:08, 11 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

It isn't a software limitation, but see WP:BLOCK#Range_blocks. I'm not sure that the vandalism is sufficiently severe to warrant a brief range block. Of course, the people at WP:RFPP might disagree. - FrancisTyers · 16:23, 11 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
Pretty much yeah. I mean, you don't have to worry about the 3RR if its stuff like you showed me, e.g. replacing every instance of Bulgaria with Macedonia. - FrancisTyers · 21:35, 11 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Bulgars edit

Hi Funky. I don't exactly understand what you mean; I've only defended the attempt to remove sourced info. I don't have any vested interest in calling them Turkic-speaking; it's simply what I found in the encyclopedia of european languages I consulted; if it had called them Mongolic or Iranic, I would have written that. Also, I don't think you fully understand what you are implying; that I would have distorted the source so to accomodate it to me eases; a thing that can hardly be done in good faith :-(--Aldux 21:33, 14 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Oops, sorry, I had misunderstood you. You're obviously right that something should not be kept only because it's reliably sourced; it has to be in context with the article, and not placed just to advance a point of view.--Aldux 21:46, 14 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Delchev edit

I'm sorry, but I would risk abusing my admin powers; I've controlled with Google, and it gave 578 hits for Gotse Delchev, 735 for Goce Delchev, and 718 for Goce Delcev. Hugh Poulton in his "Who are the Macedonians" explicitely speaks of the difficulty on chosing names, as the Goce/Goltse covers the problem of different transliterations used by Macs and Bulgarians, and mentions exactly the case you pose. Considering this, I think it would be far better to leave a notice at Wikipedia:Requested moves and start a straw poll at Talk:Goce Delchev.--Aldux 21:36, 17 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

I think there's a slight misunderstanding; I'm not saying it would be a wrong idea, quite the contrary, while they are more or less equal as google hits, "Gotse" seems to be preferred by scholarship. The point is that it's potentially contentious, as Macs appear to prefer "Goce". For this I think it would be better to make it pass through a straw poll; and if there is no strong opposition, I would be happy to move it.--Aldux 23:25, 17 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Macedonism edit

Honestly, I don't remember; but since the edit summary reads "minor", it probably was just meant to be a typo, that was possibly made for an error on an old version. Consider yourself fully free to undo any damage I made; as I said, it was just an error, as I would have remembered a major edit to this article.--Aldux 19:08, 10 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

link to antiquity edit

Hello, when you want to link to the article about antiquity, please do not link to antiquity, as that is a disambiguation page (which nothing should be linked to). Instead link to the one of the options found on that page such as ancient history or classical antiquity by writing out [[ancient history|antiquity]] or [[classical antiquity|antiquity]]. What is your problem, man? edit

Why you deleting categories which are relevant for history of the Republic of Macedonia? Do you want to say that these things did not happened on its territory? PANONIAN (talk) 16:41, 11 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

"If you have not noticed, History of the Republic of Macedonia is a subcategory of History of Macedonia, so there's absolutely no sense in adding it" I noticed, but Republic of Macedonia is a country and Macedonia is only geographical region. Why events related to history of one country cannot be in the history category of that country? PANONIAN (talk) 16:43, 11 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
"The category is still there, however it is subsumed by the larger region of Macedonia, thats all" Thats ridiculous. If one search for the historical articles related to the Republic of Macedonia the "larger region of Macedonia category" is not a good place where he will search for such articles. PANONIAN (talk) 16:46, 11 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
"The issue is that the Republic of Macedonia did not exist before 1991 so to talk about its history before that is anachronism." That is even more ridiculous claim. Republic of France also did not existed in the time of Roman Empire but Roman Gaul is part of "History of France" category: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Roman_Gaul PANONIAN (talk) 16:49, 11 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

About categories thing edit

My point is that if:

  • B is subset of A
  • B is a country and A is a region
  • an article C is refering to the whole of B and parts of A

Then article C should be in both category A and B. I feel that such reasoning is pretty natural, and that your behaviour is inflamatory, and not in good faith. I thought that was evident from my comment on Francis talk page.

Oh, yes, evidence, I like to support my claims with evidence. These articles are in Category:History of Europe and in descendat category:

--Dijxtra 21:56, 11 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

OK, I see you really don't understand. We have a region. Lets name it Macedonia/Europe. We have a country lets call it Republic of Macedonia/Belgium. If something is related to the region and to the country, we put the article in both categories. Do you get it now? --Dijxtra 22:18, 11 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
NO, the thing is that Roman Empire is just to darn big and to undefined. It changed its area a lot. So it would be impractical to name all of the countries. But, the articles which you reverted did not encompass such a bit area. --Dijxtra 22:26, 11 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
Good. I presented you with precedents, you ignored them. Fine by me. --Dijxtra 22:37, 11 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
I don't see how this discussion can have any constructive result, and therefore I'm going to sleep. We'll see what Francis has got to say. --Dijxtra 22:40, 11 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Anyways, I believe that all those people cram too much the box. Couldn't you select four among them as is done in the great majority of similar boxes?--Aldux 15:01, 21 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
Ah, when it comes to uploading images, ask to anybody except me; I've never uploaded one in all my wiki life. Try asking Khoikhoi, or NikoSilver.--Aldux 15:21, 21 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
Yeah. What do you wanna upload? •NikoSilver 23:40, 23 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Ah, I just saw. See, you'll have to be able to prove 9 things with that one:

  • All 8 pics individually are free. You have to provide 8 links to the 8 pics if you downloaded them from WP to show that all 8 are free.
  • Claim that it was you personally (or a friend you know) that put them together like that to make the big pic.

Write that stuff in the image in summary to respond to that annoying template.•NikoSilver 23:45, 23 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Strange... It worked for me. Now add those refs I told you! •NikoSilver 23:52, 23 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

I don't think it's correct as a tag. I haven't ever borrowed pics. You need to show that these 8 images aren't copyrighted or smthng.•NikoSilver 00:15, 24 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

User notice: temporary 3RR block edit

Regarding reversions[1] made on September 24 2006 to Template:EU countries_and_candidates edit

You have been temporarily blocked for violation of the three-revert rule. Please feel free to return after the block expires, but also please make an effort to discuss your changes further in the future.
The duration of the block is 24 hours. William M. Connolley 08:22, 24 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

I was asleep when all that happened. I really feel very sorry it had to come to that. I can't take back what I said regarding the asterisk and intervene in this dispute, despite the fact that I'm sure you understand I find your version is slightly more appealing. You and Francis are both considered my wiki-friends, and I sincerely hope you'll manage to put that behind you. Just keep in mind that the difference between the two versions is small. This issue should not have come to this point in the first place... •NikoSilver 11:52, 24 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

ah, didn't notice. Well, if it sounds comforting, I think your point is made there anyway via the inclusion of his citizenship details. I really don't think it's so important to either include it or not. I also posted a message to Aldux re all this. Goodnight for now. •NikoSilver 00:36, 23 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Let's not overreact edit

The last chapter of the book is not "censored" (see for yourself).

In fact, nothing in that site is censored, there are many parts of the book which aren't presented. The book that I have (in Macedonian edition) has the whole text from "your" version (about Bulgarians and stuff).

Please, let's focus on the article. Put the link about the language back. Cheers, Bomac 16:40, 29 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

List of Bulgarians edit

Funky, I'm sorry, but I've blocked you for 24h for violation of the 3RR regarding the article List of Bulgarians. This was clearly not a case of simple vandalism, but a content dispute, and even if I fully agree with your reverts, and have judged Ditirambo'sbehaviour disruptive, this is not a good reason to violate the 3RR; and you're a too experienced editor not too no the rules. PS. You may find this amusing: The ending -iski (-ίσκη) in Greek, is a feminine ending for "small". E.g., we call παιδί-σκη, the little young lolita. There's even a book by a scholar entirely devoted on that ending ([2] W. Petersen, The Greek Diminutive Suffix -ισκο-, -ισκη-. Yale University Press. New Haven Conn. 1913 (Transactions of the Conn. Acad. of Arts and Sciences XVIII 139 κεξξ.).) :-) NikoSilver 21:51, 1 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
