Obviously you don't need to read all those – they're just there for convenience. You're pretty clueful[citation needed] so Be Bold can be your creed. The main policy a scientist need to be familiar with is No original research. The other way to get to know things is by checking out Wikipedia's very best articles, such as Metabolism, On the Origin of Species, or (ahem) Fungi.

You also might be interested in the wikiprojects on genetics, fungi or mathematical and computational biology. And definitely check out the new and awesome Template:Cite pmid, which makes citing science articles a snap.
