Another "one to watch"

Rock Soldier is having a POV struggle with a few ZZ Top albums. It's not to much of a stretch. He can't tell the difference between Rock, Hard rock, Blues-rock etc (not knowing that they are similar) This is the guy who didn;t think Motorhead were heavy metal... so you can see where he has some serious G lapses. An extra eye will help. 156.34.213.161 (talk) 01:04, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

Genre impairment abounds??? Can you undo this one? 156.34.213.161 (talk) 01:24, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
Already undone, I'll watch it in case it's added again. Funeral 20:49, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

IP 70.138.106.139 is back from a 1 month block. Can you help me revert his newest edits? 156.34.216.115 (talk) 23:00, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

Vampire Weekend

Why are you obsessed with editing the Vampire Weekend page? 172.143.243.111 (talk) 02:27, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

Fan sites don't meet the guidelines set by WP:EL, so they shouldn't be added to the article. Funeral 20:49, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
FYI, I prompted Alfie to post that link on the blacklist page and the request was, I believe, accepted and the link kiboshed. 156.34.225.77 (talk) 01:12, 15 February 2008 (UTC)

Great, thanks! Funeral 16:43, 15 February 2008 (UTC)

A sleazy article

Why does sleaze rock have a genre box? I went through the page and rm'd any use of the word genre(hopefully it sticks) If there are any categories relating to genre they should be removed too. Wikipedia is genre-impaired. 156.34.225.77 (talk) 13:20, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

Definitely... I've got rid of the box. Funeral 13:57, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

Writing an A-Class article is good enough... it's very commendable. And promoting Axl Rose is good too. I think you have enough experience... but maybe pop into WP:AfC and see how things work there... that'll show that you understand notability policy etc... When do you think you'll honestly (I don't wanna push you or let you think that you're being pushed :-D) be ready? :-) ScarianCall me Pat 16:39, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

Most, if not all, of the edits from 66.21.196.122 (talk · contribs) can be undone. Pretty much useless pov, uncited, unconstructive... etc, etc, etc. 156.34.216.55 (talk) 02:20, 20 February 2008 (UTC)

Bon Jovi infobox

Is there a certain set of formatting guidelines for music infoboxes that can be found? I'm not trying to be a jerk or get into an edit war with you or anything, it's just that I've seen genres, labels, etc. be separated by both breaks and by commas, and genres capitalized/uncapitalized, and I'd be curious to know if there is a set guideline that is found on WP, or if it's just my preference vs. your preference. Thanks! Abog (talk) 17:25, 24 February 2008 (UTC)

Rule of thumb = 2 genres-breaks are tolerated - 3 or more... use commas. 156.34.226.197 (talk) 03:30, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

Your thoughts

There is a fanboy who keeps adding/re-adding peacock/praise quotes (lifted from AMG... ungh!) and crufting up the Gary Moore page. See any good in that? 156.34.226.197 (talk) 03:30, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

No, especially not in the lead. He's got rid of it now but I'll watch the article in case he re-adds it again. Funeral 21:36, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

Another prod/AfD candidate see Syrym. 156.34.220.185 (talk) 09:35, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
I gues Syrym got AfD'd once and was kept based on a single vote??? Its still a t*rd no matter what colour someone has tried to paint it. One notable member??? it should be a re-direct to the member page. 156.34.226.160 (talk) 17:30, 27 February 2008 (UTC)

Got an opinion? 142.167.92.127 (talk) 02:29, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

A crufter on the Steve Vai article

A fanboy is peacocking the lead on the Steve Vai article. The page has no real lead-in and deserves one but the fanboy is adding cruft content that's better suited to a section deep down in the article. The Guitarist Project has rejected the word 'virtuoso' unless its ref'd... and even then... never never never in the lead. A quick lead-in could be thrown together to encompass the artists career but fanboy may prefer his cruft. Can you watch? 156.34.220.185 (talk) 13:17, 27 February 2008 (UTC)

Believe it or not I was trying to expand the intro which is TOO short at present. Its very difficult to do add anything without seeming POV -you didn't state in the edit summary you had moved it down. I am not some silly little fanboy, as for him being widely recognized as a virtuoso, anybody who doubts that guitarists such as Joe Satriani and Steve Vai aren't at the top of their fields needs their head read, this isn;t POV and their are countless official websites such as Rolling stone etc which recognize them as this. Everybody knows who the guitar virtusos are. Why do you think all the major bands such as the Rolling Stones, Deep Purple, Whitesnake etc went to such lengths to hire them?. The Wild West guy (talk) 13:55, 27 February 2008 (UTC)

the article has a decent lead now. Has some poor image placement issues. But in four years of editing its only on rare occasions that I've even seen an article without image issues. Right now the pics are just too big and a bit cluttered. All in due time. Are you on wiki-vacation or what? 156.34.226.160 (talk) 17:24, 27 February 2008 (UTC)

Please read WP:CITE and learn how to write citations properly. Thank you. Funeral 18:29, 27 February 2008 (UTC)

so instead of just reverting which is a wiki no no just fix citation or notify me,and if you have a problem with how the genre is sited than you should troll around there are many music pages who have the citation like that and the main reason people are refernce like that is because of people like you who dont like it and say hey its not referenced so i can remove it, that is why people are puting genre/style citation in the box so you see right away that it is sourced and next time be kind and don't tell me i need to learn how to do something i do have to do anything thank you and have a spectacular day oh and i see you just used your sock puppet to revert it again well i think i will have to notify an administrator--Wikiscribe (talk) 18:46, 27 February 2008 (UTC)

Just so's ya knows...

That wasn't me :D Not all 156.34.X editors are perfect like me. There are close to 10K students stretched across my 3 campuses. Most of the students are decent folk. A few of them are d*nks. It's hard for me to keep the 156.34 range pristine and clean with the odd bad apple slippin' past. Oh well. My ratio of "good" more then outweighs the knobs. 156.34.226.160 (talk) 20:58, 27 February 2008 (UTC)

Do you agree?...

Do you agree that War and Peace (band) and War and Peace (album) should be re-directed to Jeff Pilson?... seeing as how that's the only slim notability for the pages. 156.34.142.110 (talk) 18:23, 29 February 2008 (UTC)

Thanks! I didn't think it deserved its own page(s). The creator might get all pissy (he's one of those genre-impaired... "GnR are metal man" pre-teens) I will watch them to see they are rv'd. 142.167.92.127 (talk) 21:52, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

Link opinion

I blanked a link on the Creedence Clearwater Revival page that was in both the infobox and the external links section. It looks like a fansite and I couldn't find any authorised/official status on it. Could you watch that it doesn't get "re-spammed" back into the page. 156.34.226.160 (talk) 00:25, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

I would say yes. Perhaps the original nominator or the second "list adding" nominator.. should have an opinion. My opinion is that their opinion would be yes... but it would be polite to keep them in the loop. Also... watch the Hard rock page. An IP is trying to 'sleaze' it up. :D 156.34.142.110 (talk) 19:24, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

The Stooges

You're kidding right? Proto metal not a genre? Shall I source it for you? Because I can. Ian Christe ring a bell? His book is sourced all over wikipedia for metal stuff. He talks about the genre. It's made up of bands that helped form early metal. Queen, Cream, The Stooges and uh, others, which I can't think of at the moment. But I can source the shit if you want. Also, I didn't put in glam rock, lol. I was gonna remove it, but thought maybe I shouldn't. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 20:01, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

Not to mention, it stands to reason that if proto punk is a genre, so would proto metal be. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 20:11, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

A Wiki-history lesson for those who weren't here way back when... Proto metal is a horse that's already been beat to death a long time ago. It was discussed and deemed as a re-direct to heavy metal. 156.34.231.56 (talk) 22:07, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

I realize that, but it doesn;t make The Stooges or Queen any less proto metal. As I said, it can be referenced. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 18:50, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
References are irrelevant - maybe they are proto metal, but it's a term not a real genre. Funeral 19:38, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

Not being hostile here, but could you post your reasoning on the reversion to the album talk page? Thanks! Fantailfan (talk) 13:11, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

Keep an eye on

The Rolling Stones is being un-engvar'd by "Mr. Anonymous"... A Stones fanboy from California. Sacremento to be exact. His IP floats. He usually identifies himself in his edit summaries. I can't find the guideline that says lists are seperated by commas. Genres can be seperated by a break if there is only two. If there are three or more use a comma. Can you give me please the link so I can see that?--Lykantrop (Talk) 12:36, 23 March 2008 (UTC)

Holy Wars

Hi, you reverted my edit to Rust in Peace. In the edit summary, you said, "WP:MUSTARD." Rule 3 for capitalization says "the" shouldn't be capitalized..

142.162.207.163 (talk) 22:38, 23 March 2008 (UTC)

The song title is "Holy Wars... The Punishment Due", and The remains capitalised if it follows punctuation. Killing Is My Business... And Business Is Good! is another example of this. Funeral 19:05, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
