If you are paid in any way for contributing to Wikipedia, you must disclose it. edit

WP:PAID says

"The Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use require that all editors disclose their "employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which they receive, or expect to receive, compensation". " "A paid contribution is one that involves contributing to Wikipedia in exchange for money or other inducements. It includes adding or removing content from any page, including articles and talk pages. If you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for your contributions to Wikipedia, either directly or indirectly, you must disclose who is paying you to edit (your "employer"), who the client is, and any other relevant role or relationship."

Your username matches that of an organisation involved in cinema advertising and you've been promoting a film that you seem to be involved in. You need to follow the instructions at WP:PAID on how to disclose.

You obviously have a conflict of interest (see WP:COI). This advises that those with a conflict of interest, including paid editors, are very strongly discouraged from directly editing affected articles, but should post content proposals on the talk pages of existing articles, and should put new articles through the articles for creation process, so they can be reviewed prior to being published.

Doug Weller talk 18:59, 29 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

User:Doug Weller I am not a paid shill for a media publicity company if that's what your question is? If I work in Cinema does that preclude me from adding or amending a genuine film article? for example: if I work in dry cleaning, am I not allowed to ad or amend an article related to cleaning products? You are an administrator, surely you can step in and sort out the complexities? Genuine Film, Genuine People, No paid placement, Genuine MSM Media Articles, Genuine history, Genuine location, Both sides represented, Genuine story of oppression of a minority indigenous people, a voice for the voiceless. Too hot for Wikipedia to handle? I am beginning to understand more and more each day.

Unfortunately we have an extremely serious problem with paid editors, and you appear to be in the cinema publicity business and are using the name of the company as your username, which is against our policy but I’m not pushing that. You haven’t stated explicitly whether you receive or expect any, and we do mean any, form of compensation no matter how minor. You are clearly promoting the film on Wikipedia. 06:09, 30 October 2017 (UTC)

User:Doug Weller I'd love for you to find a single cinema advert placement there. f-stopcinema.com is a dormant web address I believe. But of course with administrators so worried about participation in the subject, I think we could just ask a non participant ie your editors or a member of the public to ad it? Or is it allowed to be an indigenous person who was in the film or is that problematic?

Could you please just give me an explicit answer? Are you or do you expect to receive any compensation from anyone involved in the film? I'm not getting involved in whether it should have an article. If the draft is approved, a sentence about the film would be appropriate on some articles. But not until. That's just the way we work. The websites is dormant but not the FaceBook page. Doug Weller talk 11:24, 30 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

User:Doug Weller 'Et tu Brute' 'Even you Brutus"? 'not getting involved in whether it should have an article' are you sure?? should a Genocide really have a voice Doug? (I can't believe we are at this point) Human Rights tags along behind possible perceived pecuniary interest?? complicity in silencing a minorities voice is what it's called, and leaves stains which cannot be washed from the hands. Placing corporate ads in cinemas is a long way from being paid to publicize independent films believe me. The article is going to go into my sandbox and if anyone has the gumption and isn't afraid of human rights, or touchy subjects like colonialism and is completely unconnected to the topic; then they might be able to post it as a voice for the voiceless. I say to you Turn around before it is too late.
