This looks great. I suggest you roll it out. The only other comment I have (for the moment) is that the notation R for curvature (after Riemann) is perhaps not right in this context. Many people use F in the gauge theory context (which I guess goes back to Faraday, or Field). Geometry guy 01:10, 16 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Good point, thanks. I think I copied the R notation from the covariant derivative article without thinking about it. I want to add a brief section on parallel transport (since I've now mentioned it in the opening sentence) and then I'll roll it out.
