In English was say "Photograph" to denote one image.
"Photography" is the act of taking photos. What is your profession? "Photography". Did you take that Photograph?

on the Laurindo Almeida Discussion page it says - "This man in this photograph holding the tenor saxophone, is Tex Beneke, who played with Glen Miller, and led his own bands after Glen Miller was killed in WWII. this is correct - Library of Congress photo "Portrait of Tex Beneke, New York, N.Y.(?), ca. Jan. 1947"
the original Library of Congress photo also has the wrong title!
so i have replaced your photo with a photograph given to me by the daughter of Robert E Myers (the producer of Laurindo Almeida's Grammy Award winning records) -- she knew Laurindo Almeida personally and has confirmed that the original photo of him was incorrect

editI edit the biographies of musicians and specifically, I email photographers and explain to most of them what a Creative Commons license is, and ask that they allow the Wikipedia to use each photo, usually in the cc-by-sa license to avoid problems with copyright violations. It takes a lot of time to write people in many different languages and get their permission. (See my list of most of the photos on my Userpage- over 600 to Wikipedia Commons just in that category alone. I noticed that you uploaded at least one photo from Heinrich Klaffs who was one of the photographers to allow us access to many photos.
- The reason I am writing is because I have edited mostly the English Wikipedia, and Portugues and Spanish, but have done minor edits and added photos to other Wikipedias, including the German Wikipedia.(de.Wikipedia). I was told that the information boxes on the biography articles are not used on de.Wikipedia. We use them here! If you are willing to upload, or place an uploaded photo on a biography page for musicians, you really need to add the box, the information inside it, and clean up the article, unless it is GA or FA status.

Sorry, I was not clear about photos
editThe most important thing I thought about was that since we are both uploading a lot of photos that we should speak about it, so we do not both upload the same photos from Flickr to Wikimedia Commons with only different names! It took me time to get Heinrich Klaffs to allow his photos to be uploaded to Creative Commons. I have placed photos in other language Wikipedias, as I mentioned. However, another editor on the de.Wikipedia told me that those infoboxes that we use here for musicians are no longer used in the German Wikipedia. He told me that infoboxes were in a discussion there, but there was no consensus, so he told me to just place the photo at the top of the article. This is really different from the en.Wikipedia (and es.Wikipedia, pt.Wikipedia, etc.) - I do not know German so I only put photos in the de.Wikipedia, anyway. But I was wondering if there are any more differences there that I should know? I do not know the translations from German to English and I thought you could help me, too..
- Also,the en.Wikipedia does require infoboxes whenever possible for musicians who perform and record music. It is an extention of the lead to the article-- it gives a reader the chance (hopefully) to see a photo of the musician(s), a list of genres that they perform, other occupations other than just being a musician, like maybe a record producer too, and the age and place where they were born (and maybe died) as well. The lead to the article should show the person's biography and give a quick outline about what the article is about, per WP:MOS.--Leahtwosaints (talk) 02:11, 31 October 2010 (UTC)

I'm chronicling the inspiring stories of the Wikipedia community around the world, including those from readers, editors, and donors. The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve.
