A proposal to stop the bickering

How would you feel if I tutored you for a project that is dying in editors and articles? I know of one state that I have experience with that I can help you. That state is Pennsylvania (WP:PASH). I have heard you like doing templates, and you could be a good help. Would you be up to trying a new state, because, I personally think you're better off with stopping the California work. I really would like to see PA prosper. Please reply, its important.Mitch32(UP) 19:27, 4 August 2008 (UTC)

  • I never been to Pennsylvania so I don't know anything about their roads or highways. I live in Orange County, California so I find their highways interesting. The only other states I been to besdies California is Washington, DC and Chicago, and Denver Airport, suspend landing to continue trips to DC. Sure, I will like you to tutor me with projects. This will leave me something productive to do. However, at house, I don't have much to do.--Freewayguy Call? Fish 20:05, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
  • By the way is Pennsylvania where you live? Most editors edits articles based on where they live.--Freewayguy Call? Fish 20:07, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
Great. Well, as I have noticed, PA's route numbering system was devised in two ways. Routes used a type of family like x46 or x49 in different counties spread around the state. The numbers 800 and above were used for other reasons. PA has some deteoriations, and your templating would be great. Heck, maybe we can get you a GA if you work hard for it. I can give you some ideas if you want them.
I don't live in Pennsylvania, but I live near it. I work on northeast states mainly.Mitch32(UP) 20:10, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
So, what's it gonna be?Mitch32(UP) 20:54, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

Response

You guys did those to save Wikipedia space (though in my opinion you shouldn't worry about Wikipedia's amount of storage). That had nothing to do with duplications of exit lists. Now you're just going on a tangent. Splat5572 (talk) 00:37, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

Exit list issue

I've protected a few of the pages and set up a section for discussion about the exit list issue at WT:CASH. Please discuss there instead of reverting. Thanks. —Scott5114 [EXACT CHANGE ONLY] 20:44, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

Please discuss it on WT:CASH. I have no preference towards either of your positions at the moment. —Scott5114 [EXACT CHANGE ONLY] 21:01, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

Sheilds

I still don't have everything set up yet, I've been busy with other things over the past couple of days so I haven't been able to finish yet. I have all my old files moved over, but I still need to install some programs, including Inkscape. Even though I don't need Inkscape just to move files, I'd prefer to get everything finished before I start taking requests again. I'll let you know when I'm ready. It shouldn't be too much longer.-Jeff (talk) 03:22, 6 August 2008 (UTC)

About how much longer, because Check usage for images is also getting slow, and sometimes its just waste of time to open that file, and wait for 10 minutes to load. User O wants me to run Check usage before I file it with blue tag for deletion, because I almost unintentionally scare him by blue tags.--Freewayguy Ask questions? I see a problem with moving the current New York shields to "I-x (big).svg" and that's that they are different from the existing big shields, compare   and  . The numbers aren't the same size.-Jeff (talk) 01:25, 7 August 2008 (UTC)

Sorry, it took me a while to figure out how to copy all the license information over from the old location, I've started now, but I might not finish all of them tonight.-Jeff (talk) 02:33, 7 August 2008 (UTC)

I finished uploading all the "I-x (long)" images. When the old ones get deleted, then I'll be able to move over the state-name shields.-Jeff (talk) 03:02, 7 August 2008 (UTC)

OK, they're done now.-Jeff (talk) 01:40, 8 August 2008 (UTC)

It has the state name on it:  -Jeff (talk) 01:59, 8 August 2008 (UTC)

Done.  -Jeff (talk) 04:17, 8 August 2008 (UTC)

I am not a scientist. If you want to ask these kinds of questions, I suggest you sign up to bautforum. That site is frequented by astronomers and their "Questions and Answers" section allows novices to ask just the sort of questions you do to genuine qualified astronomers. Removal of comments

Per this removal of comments at your editor review, it is highly inadvisable to continue such behaviour. An editor review is not where you can pick and choose which comments to include, unless they are personal attacks -- which this was not. seicer | talk | contribs 03:01, 9 August 2008 (UTC)

Duplication

I see what situation you are trying to address. However, I'm thinking of putting the templates containing only the postmile, exit number, destinations, and notes columns and leave the county and city rowspans alone. --Splat5572 (talk) 05:18, 12 August 2008 (UTC)

I-10

Hi, Freewayguy! I'm curious why {{San Bernardino Freeway (I-10) exit list in Los Angeles County}} is in template space? Shouldn't this simply be a List on its own? Rather than be transcluded into the two articles? I'm tempted to TfD it, but wanted to see your thoughts. I'll watch this page. -- SatyrTN (talk / contribs) 00:56, 13 August 2008 (UTC)

  • This is because having template exit list is used for multiples of exit lists. If we handwrite them, the problem is it gets outdated, and most people will only update one but not the others. WT:CASH we had a huge war over weeks ago about the whether duplicate the exit list or write See Golden State Frwy. A user do not like the way when we have to jump to another page to find an exit list, when they collide with two numbers Hollywood Frwy for example includes both US 101 and SR 170 Freeways, and by linking to another pages confuses people.--Freewayguy Ask? +000s 02:33, 13 August 2008 (UTC)

Meatpuppets

Meatpuppets are real people who act like sockpuppets for someone. So for instance if I was in a revert war with someone, rather than use a sockpuppet to evade 3RR, if I called up my best friend and asked her to revert for me, then she would be a meatpuppet. She wouldn't be a sockpuppet because her account isn't controlled by me, but she would still be acting on my behalf. Checkuser probably wouldn't show the two accounts as related since they would have different IP addresses. See WP:MEAT for details.

I don't think there is such thing as a strawpuppet. You might have it confused with a strawman argument though. Perhaps someone used the term strawpuppet to refer to a sockpuppet account that makes strawman arguments, though. But I've never heard that either.

(While I'm on your talk page, I may as well ask: have you read User:Freewayguy/Language coaching#August 4 yet? You haven't made any comments on it yet...) —Scott5114 [EXACT CHANGE ONLY] 05:38, 13 August 2008 (UTC)

Civility

It will take several months—possibly as much as a year—of good conduct before your civility problems are "forgotten". Keep cool, don't do that sort of stuff again, and with the passage of time, eventually the community will no longer consider it an issue. —Scott5114 [EXACT CHANGE ONLY] 18:52, 13 August 2008 (UTC)

This is why I want to stay cool all the time. Actions on Commons, or any projects is jus as important as here.My past fly of handle not only make me as nobody wants as administrator, also makes me unwelcomed to edit here. This is why Imzadi1979 always chase me around and revert my edits in past, possibly anybody can check block log, because my my tantrum behavior on Commons make him think I would use deeleting, locking, and blocking in a bad manner, or abusively. I don't know how long it will take for other people to forget about the tantrums I had in past, one month may not be enough. I just never will do those again.--Freewayguy Ask? +000s 01:48, 16 August 2008 (UTC)
