Thank you for your support edit

Thank you for your support in the RfA on my behalf. It is an honor to have received your expression of confidence. To be chosen as an administrator requires a high level of confidence by a broad section of the community. Although I received a great deal of support, at this time I do not hold the level of confidence required, and the RfA did not pass. It is my wish that I will continue to deserve your confidence. Sincerely, --BostonMA talk 20:37, 3 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Linux pronunciation edit

Hi, I responded to you and moved the discussion to the Linux page, I think it's better to have it there. Cheers, Chris Pickett 22:16, 6 February 2007 (UTC) (P.S. I'm not particularly bothered by the whole thing; would be good to get someone else's opinion is all.)Reply

Thanks for the barnstar! edit

Wow, thanks, that was a nice surprise. I basically decided to pick an article and focus on it a little bit each day until it reaches FA status. We'll see if Linux gets there, there's a lot left to do! Cheers, Chris Pickett 19:42, 19 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Little context in BlueCat Linux edit

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on BlueCat Linux, by Witchinghour, another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because BlueCat Linux is very short providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting BlueCat Linux, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Please note, this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate BlueCat Linux itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. --Android Mouse Bot 2 15:47, 8 June 2007 (UTC)

Maps on the Commons edit

Dear Freedom to share,

thanks for your support of my proposal of the Scutari map for Featured picture. It seems that the colleagues are not very much interested in maps, however they can be very beautiful and interesting.

For your information, you can find 200 such maps in the category "3rd Military Mapping Survey of Austria-Hungary", uploaded by me. These were of course not scanned by me, but by the library of the Budapest university named ELTE. I did enhance a little the colours in the case of the Scutari map, because they were faded by the time. There were some notes in German about the original colours used, so I tried to reconstruct them.

Thanks for uploading Image:OpenOffice.org Base logo.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference edit

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer have them marked as minor by default.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you are familiar with the contents of WP:MINOR, and believe that it is still beneficial to the encyclopedia to have all your edits marked as such by default, then this discussion will give you the details you need to continue with this functionality indefinitely. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 18:48, 14 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Proposed deletion of File:UN permanent members.png edit

The file File:UN permanent members.png has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Superseded by File:UNSC 2019.svg

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ♠PMC(talk) 17:41, 30 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
