How did you know I'm taking French classes? That really helps, please keep going. I'm not editing articles too much, school and this are taking up my time. I'm glad to see you've returned, Fred. I missed you.--CJ King (talk) 03:57, 22 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

I missed you too... moving from Canada was hard. I know my friends will always be there when I need them, though, and that helps :) Thanks for the nice email, and Happy Thanksgiving! Fredil 16:54, 22 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Try the <poem> tags. Like this:

<poem>
She's the kind of girl who gets her slings and arrows from the dumpster;
The kind who tells you she's bipolar just to make you trust her.
She's the kind of girl who leaves out condoms on the bedroom dresser,
Just to make you jealous of the men she fucked before you met her.
</poem>

...yields...

She's the kind of girl who gets her slings and arrows from the dumpster;
The kind who tells you she's bipolar just to make you trust her.
She's the kind of girl who leaves out condoms on the bedroom dresser,
Just to make you jealous of the men she fucked before you met her.

Re:StarCraft

edit

Well, if you can write a good overview of Terran gameplay aspects in a paragraph, keeping it to what's encyclopedic and avoiding strategy and story, then sure! I need someone to do a gameplay aspects paragraph for the notability-spurred merge of the species, as I can't find the words to write. I could also use a hand in finding reliable third-party references - unfortunately that excludes Battle.net, which is currently being used - to cite gameplay information. Any development information you may know of relating to the creation of the species - either their appearance or their development in gameplay - would be useful as well. The draft being worked on is over at User:S@bre/Species of StarCraft. -- Sabre (talk) 18:24, 23 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

I'm sure you're familiar with StarCraft Wikia? Would that be considered a reliable third-party source? And I'll try to keep my Terran gameplay paragraph concise, but just to let you know I'm worse at Terran than I am playing Impossible Dragoons by myself :) Fredil 18:26, 23 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
No, SC Wiki is not a reliable third-party source (open wiki, plus so much incorrect details and misapplied assumptions), and the approach it takes to articles is not encyclopedic as is required on Wikipedia. Something like StarCraft Legacy is borderline reliable: the fact it sources it's news posts allows it to be used, but I don't think that Legacy have the gameplay detail required. A site similar to it might do though. Basically, it should reiterate the information at the StarCraft compedium on Battle.net, but be separate from Blizzard, not openly editable and have some sort of reputation for reliability and accurate facts. In any case, it doesn't matter how bad you are as Terrans, as long as you can write the overview accurately but not so specifically it falls foul of WP:NOT#GUIDE. The gameplay sections for the Zerg and Protoss are already done in the draft, that should give an idea to what to aim for. -- Sabre (talk) 18:38, 23 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
Zerg isn't done... it's empty last I checked. But the Protoss section looks good. A reliable third-party source like that is going to be REALLY hard to find, mostly because most game sites about StarCraft are... strategy guides. I'll look for one though. Have you checked starcraft.org? I don't remember exactly what it talks about since it's been a while, but that could work. Unless it's a fansite. Fredil 18:41, 23 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
The gameplay aspects of the Zerg are done, the lore side isn't. A reliable third-party source that's also a strategy guide should suffice. Oh, and the note on the capitalisations is very VERY deliberate. Raynor's raiders is an unconfirmed name, it's not been used anywhere except the force names on the scoreboard, and Blizzard have a tendency to either mess around with it (Mojo's Boys) or contradict themselves (the amount of times Garm Brood appears in Brood War) on the scoreboard. So until it's confirmed as the canonical name that the group calls themselves in lore, it should remain as the informal "Raynor's raiders" with the note that it's commonly used to refer to the group, but used as little as possible elsewhere in the article. The dark templar is a slightly different case: all Blizzard writings since the publishing of Queen of Blades (up to and including official SC2 information) have cut back on what is capitalised, and so we're following that style to match. That means dark templar, executor, battlecruiser, dragoon, cerebrate and judicator caste, capitalisations are on the way out in many cases, exceptions being class names of ships: Behemoth-class battlecruiser and so on. At some point after the rewrites are done, that even means changing it to zerg, protoss and terran, but I'm holding that particular capitalisation convention back a while. -- Sabre (talk) 18:48, 23 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:RakCont.GIF

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:RakCont.GIF. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Rachmaninov Piano Concerto No. 3 with Michael Tilson Thomas, conductor
My parents have always wanted to go to Florida. Too bad I missed it -_- Fredil 17:56, 24 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
I saw that on his web site. I was like "so Bronfman has worked with Michael Tilson Thomas already this year, and on a different concerto! Wow!" By the way, his San Francisco performance a week ago was beyond amazing. Something I never say about the Auburn Symphony Orchestra (as good as they undoubtedly are).
I'm trying to learn the cadenza. It's kind of difficult so far, but it's FAR easier than I expected (and much harder than Bronfman makes it look!). Wish me luck! :D Fredil 20:36, 27 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
