Arqanqergen mass murder

edit

I was going to copy-edit the above mentioned article but as I read through it, it was glaringly evident that the source material was contradictory and that the article itself was incomplete. After some research I decided to check if the Russian Wikipedia had an equivalent article. Well they do and at first glance it rather seems complete. Can I just rob and rebuild it or should I just do an original rewrite? FrankyFour (talk) 07:54, 2 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

If you can read Russian, "robbing" would be very helpful. See Wikipedia:Translation for more instructions, especially the use of the template {{translated page}}; it (or something like it) is required by our attribution guidelines. The article's in curious shape right now, with romanizations of Kazakhstan and Nazarbayev I haven't seen before. "Arqanqergen" itself is similar. Based on the first reference given, Argkankergen is probably better. I'm WP:BOLDly moving the article to Argkankergen mass murder. --BDD (talk) 18:10, 2 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
Make that Arkankergen mass murder, after the slightly more common form from English Google hits. I'll make the "Argkankergen" form a redirect, however. --BDD (talk) 18:11, 2 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
I don't read Russian but I enjoyed the help of Google Translate. The poor thing loses alot in translation but nothing that can't be rebuilt. Been doing a lot of research on it and even Russian Interfax has contradictory articles on the subject as do all my other sources as well. I'll probably spend a couple more days on research before I boil it down and rewrite it though. We'll see what the final outcome reveals. FrankyFour (talk) 21:29, 2 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

GOCE Mentorship

edit

Hi FrankyFour. I don't have any active mentees, so I'd be happy to mentor you. I've also had an inquiry for mentorship via email—if it's alright with you, I'd like to mentor both of you in one program. If your individual needs are different enough, I may branch off, but since much of what I can share will probably apply to both of you, we may as well start with a class of two. How does that sound? --BDD (talk) 18:03, 2 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

That sounds great when did you want to start? FrankyFour (talk) 21:24, 2 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
Pretty soon. I'm just waiting to hear back from the other guy. If I don't hear from him in a few days, I'll proceed with just you. --BDD (talk) 02:22, 3 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
Alright. just let me know. FrankyFour (talk) 08:31, 3 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
Well, it turns out the other guy is experiencing a delay. But it may be just as well to mentor you separately. It looks like you're new, and the other guy has been around a couple of years. I'll be happy to help you out with any Wikipedia basics you may want to know as well as the ins and outs of copy editing. I've created User:BDD/Mentorship/FrankyFour, which will be our main space for the mentorship. See you over there. (PS: Bonus points if your user name is a reference to Snatch!)--BDD (talk) 17:33, 3 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
