Speedy deletion of Donald Wilford edit

A tag has been placed on Donald Wilford requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Featured article candidate for L.D. Britt edit

I appreciate that you are acting in good faith, but the article on L.D. Britt is clearly not ready for assessment. Please consult the featured article criteria and peruse articles in science and medicine that have been promoted before nominating this or another article again. Thank you. --Moni3 (talk) 21:01, 25 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

More: If you are indeed a practicing thoracic surgeon, please consult WikiProject:Medicine. Editors who have worked on featured medicine articles include GrahamColm (talk · contribs) and Tim Vickers (talk · contribs), who are also scientists. These people should be able to assist you with bringing articles involving medicine or physicians to FA. --Moni3 (talk) 21:09, 25 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Editors interested in medicine-related articles generally focus on medical conditions and treatments instead of biography articles. You might get more help from the people at Wikipedia:WikiProject Biography/Science and academia, who specialize in these kinds of articles. I'll leave a note there about the article you started. Wikipedia:WikiProject African diaspora is another group that does a fair bit of biographical work. Good luck to you, WhatamIdoing (talk) 22:42, 25 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
I figured you were new and not sure of the criteria. Dr. Britt sounds interesting, however. Please do not rule out featured articles in the future. We need as many dedicated experts on topics as we can get. --Moni3 (talk) 22:45, 25 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
