To note, there are dozens and dozens of articles on the wiki which I've been encountering for over a decade that don't follow this arbitrary convention. Many proper names of things are spelled including the ʻokina, e.g. Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park, as well, but I'd assume those are exempt from this at the very least. I also wouldn't say "traditional spelling" is the ideal term here, and would instead suggest the framing that "Hawaii" is the anglicized spelling – but neither these are more official or conventional than the other. Out of curiosity and to help me get up to speed with this all, can you link me to any previous discussion on this? I was going to revert my edits on KITV to reflect the context & content of the page, but I see you've already gone ahead and done this. I see this in my notification log and an explanation there would have sufficed, but nonetheless thanks for the heads up. –Fpmfpm (talk) 05:24, 29 July 2023 (UTC)

It looks like the most recent discussion for the Hawaii article itself was here. At other articles, there have been different considerations (for instance, University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa is at that title presumably in part because the university's official name includes the okina, which is widely followed when others refer to it).
