File source and copyright licensing problem with File:Alex holding on.jpg

File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Alex holding on.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, we also need to know the terms of the license that the copyright holder has published the file under, usually done by adding a licensing tag. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged files may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the file will be deleted 48 hours after 19:15, 15 May 2010 (UTC). Thanks for the Alex Day photo. I see Wikipedia has reacted as I feared they would.

Hey there, Fonzleclay, I saw the pic you inserted into the Alex Day article. It was a very good one. But I saw that it had no license information, and I knew instantly what that would mean: Wikipedia would tag it for deletion. I've been dealing with this situation for weeks now. I had 6 pics in the article, but Wikipedia was not satisfied with the license information, so they deleted the pics. I finally managed to get what I believe are the proper licenses on those pics, and I re-inserted them in the article just now. I would have left the pic you inserted, since it was such a good one, but I knew it was doomed. Then as a courtesy, I came to your Talk page to explain all this, and I saw, as I feared, that Wikipedia had already marked your pic for deletion. The short-version of the story is this: Wiki will not allow pics unless they're in the public domain or have Creative Commons or GNU free public licenses. In a few cases, they will allow "fair use" pics. It's all very hairy, but as I've learned from experience, Wiki takes it all very seriously. So once again, thanks for trying to improve the article. It was a great pic. But we live and learn, I guess. Take a look at the article now, with the pics I added. I hope you like it *almost* as much as when it had your pic. Take care.

Proposed deletion of Theatretrain

The article Theatretrain has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable theater group lacking GHits and GNEWS of substance. Appears to fail WP:ORGANIZATION.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ttonyb (talk) 00:17, 21 July 2010 (UTC)

Removed "Lord" from Alex Day's Name

Dan, the reference to Alex as "Lord Alex Richard George Day" on his DFTBA info page is a little joke of his. I know it's been taken seriously and repeated on a number of internet sites, but Alex actually has no title of nobility, and he shouldn't really be addressed as "Lord Alex", as far as I know. If you have reliable information that he's a duke, marquess, earl, viscount, baron, or the son of one of these, then we should put that in the body of the article, with the supporting citation, before we use "Lord" in the InfoBox as part of his name. I'm sorry to knock out your edit. I think it's great that you're keeping an eye on this article and trying to keep it up-to-date and accurate. Don't let this stop you. Take care. Bill Moran. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
