Happy New Year!
edit- Riana, thanks so much! You too! Hopefully India make a better match of it in the second test. They seem to have had a good start, but Australia seem to be battling back. -- Flyguy649 talk 04:48, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
- :( Hogg just got out, but Symonds is on a century and Lee can pick up runs quick. Let's see :( Hopefully India'll have picked up their performance by the time they get to Adelaide, or I'm selling off my ticket :P ~ Riana ⁂ 06:25, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
- Well, I get to "watch" most of my cricket by following the scoring on Cricinfo. I'd buy it off you, but if I won't pay the $15 a month to get the cricket specialty television station, I'm not likely to drop the $2800 for a flight to Adelaide! Let's see. India just took the new ball. If they can get another wicket or two before the close, India may be all right. Mind you, Australia ought to have at least 375 by the end of the day. And they still have decent bowlers. -- Flyguy649 talk

Hi & Happy New Year!
editHi Flyguy...
I have a need for several redirects to be deleted. This will make way for the renaming of these articles. All instances that need renaming are due to capitalization. The redirects that I'm requesting to be deleted are:
And no rush really... Thanks! E_dog95' Hi ' 09:04, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

Bucknor
editI understand that my comments about Bucknor may have had language that may have violated Wikipedia's neutral policy. But why was the reference to his supsension taken out? That was and remains a fact. Why should Bucknor's achievements be listed and not his gaffes and errors? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.203.152.175 (talk • contribs) 21:18, January 2, 2008 (UTC)
- It's how you put it in. Put it in the context of fact, not in relation to the current controversies over the Aus-India test. -- Flyguy649 talk 21:19, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
I never mentioned the current controversies over the Aus-India test. I had put it in that he was suspended due to his ineptitude in the WC 2007. You could have taken out my comments but left the statement and reference indicating that he was suspended for the Twenty20 World Cup in. Why was that reference taken out? I would hope that you will put back in the "fact" backed up by a reference to a newspaper article and that nobody really disputes (that the umpires did not know the laws and messed up in the WC finals; the ICC suspended them) now that the page is protected. Or are you showing your own pro-Bucknor bias?
As the article was written previously, there were glowing references making him seem like the best umpire ever or something like that. Why did you not find it suitable to edit the article then when it clearly showed someone's opinion and not facts? In fact, even now, the first line states "popular", which shows a positive opinion as opposed to a neutral one. Should I expect to see that word taken out to be replaced by "also known as"? Would you care to explain why you are against certain opinionated words and not others? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Prasen9 (talk • contribs) 22:55, January 2, 2008
- My apologies, I haven't been online in a while. I'll look at what you added and re-add it later on this evening. And I agree, neutral point of view does not mean that the subject should be presented only in glowing terms. In the mean time, you should make any additional suggestions for additions to the article at the article's talk page. -- Flyguy649 talk 22:39, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

Probable aircraft images source
editI left this message on User:Rlandmann's talk page, but I didn't get an answer. I've been working with a flickr contributor who has agreed to license his very complete collection of drag racing photographs using Creative Commons ShareAlike Attribution so that Wikipedia can use them. I have just been marking those particular images that are helpful to Wikipedia. He then uploaded a series of Formula One images, which he agreed to license too. I had a Formula One expert mark and upload those images. Now he has uploaded a series of airplanes (including Air Force One from the 1970s), so I am contacting you to see if you or someone at WP:AIRCRAFT would be interested in this reviewing this group of photographs (the set). I need to start a dialog with the flickr contributor first. He has been very good to work with and is extremely happy that Wikipedia finds these images useful and good enough for a large well-known project. Are you interested in being that person to work with him to accomplish these uploads? Royalbroil 20:29, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks very much for taking the initiative on this! I'm currently really busy in real life, so I'd rather not commit to something that should probably be taken care of fairly soon. You may wish to leave a note at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Aircraft. That would probably get an available person on board quickly! Cheers! -- Flyguy649 talk 00:42, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
- Would you please recommend someone (or several people) who was been around Wikipedia for a while? I still have a bunch of drag racing images to mark yet, and I'd like to be able to say that the Wikipedia contributor was recommended. I would hate to lose trust by having a random person from WP:AIRCRAFT who might be new to Wikipedia (thus not fairly versed in image policy). I approached you because you're an admin and I've seen you around a bit. Royalbroil 06:46, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
- I think that I found someone to do the task, so you don't need to do any recommending. Thanks anyhow! Royalbroil 21:26, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

Request to unblock former TOR exit nodes
editFlyguy649, I checked the last 5000 blocks via Special:Ipblocklist (mostly out of curiosity), and found that
- 71.155.229.183 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · filter log · WHOIS · RDNS · RBLs · http · block user · block log)
- 81.64.210.51 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · filter log · WHOIS · RDNS · RBLs · http · block user · block log)
- 85.17.45.118 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · filter log · WHOIS · RDNS · RBLs · http · block user · block log)
- 202.38.124.246 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · filter log · WHOIS · RDNS · RBLs · http · block user · block log)
which you blocked as Tor exit nodes, are no longer exit nodes. Barring circumstances unbeknownst to me, would you please consider unblocking these IP address? Thanks, Iamunknown 01:57, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
- Hmmm. They were Tor nodes when I blocked them a couple of weeks back. I'll unblock them, but I'm alos going to look into this further. Thanks for letting me know. -- Flyguy649 talk 16:02, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
- No problem. I do believe you when you say that they were exit nodes when you blocked them. The Tor network, however, is apparently quite dynamic. Possibly in part due to curiosity - that is, many people setting up exit nodes for a short amount of time to see what it is like, and then uninstalling the necessary software (I know I did that once!). See this comment by an nl.wikipedia admin for more empirical information. :) Cheers, --05:48, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
- I read parts of the thread at Wikipedia talk:Blocking/TOR nodes. It looks like one week is generally appropriate, and it can be extended if necessary. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. Cheers! -- Flyguy649 talk 01:26, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

User 202.95.200.17
editThis guy has been warned time and time again about the numerous problems with his edits. He refuses to change his ways. He was blocked for a day earlier in the week and when he came back he went back to doing exactly the same thing. He need to be blocked for a longer period, preferably at a time when he would notice (you can see that he makes his edits at the same time each day). Failing a block, could you please consider protecting the articles he keeps damaging; even if it means that people like me can't make changes, at least he can't either and those of us who are watching him can get on with other things. 220.233.196.216 (talk) 05:31, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
- Don't worry about blocking 202.95.200.17, he seems to have switched URLs to 202.95.205.74 earlier today. 220.233.196.216 (talk) 08:13, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
- Ok. I'll look into it. -- Flyguy649 talk 02:02, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

Hey, there. Highborn (talk · contribs) seems to be affected by an autoblock related to your block on FagTaggr (talk · contribs). I agree with the original username block, but since the account didn't have any edits, I was wondering if you'd have any objection to releasing the autoblock and waiting to see what happens with this second account. Care to comment? – Luna Santin (talk) 04:59, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
- I removed the autoblock on FagTaggr (talk · contribs). Feel free to adjust the block further as necessary. -- Flyguy649 talk 05:03, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

Please note that I have reported User:Hopiakuta at Wikipedia:Wikiquette alerts for the accusations that they have against you and I. Please see Wikipedia:Wikiquette alerts#User:Hopiakuta for my report. -- Roleplayer (talk) 03:40, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks. Interesting interactions I've had so far with hopiakuta... -- Flyguy649 talk 04:06, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
You could have handled this better - User:hopiakuta was understandably frustrated because his own response to the section that he removed had just been removed in the edit right before his; it would have been better to put back both rather than simply revert him. —Random832 00:35, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
- I have left a note on both the edit history of Talk:British Airways Flight 38 and User talk:hopiakuta about this. I'm not sure exactly what happened, but I'm positive my initial removal of his talk page comment was inadvertent. I am looking into this further and will post here and on the user's talk page more. -- Flyguy649 talk 00:59, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
whisper number article
editready to jump in and mediate? or at least moderate? or at least read the talk page and see how little progression has been made? we need a third person that will come in and help better explain that opinion is not valid, and references for reference sake aren't allowed, etc. Some one to take charge and help clear up the article, and since you closed it up for now....all other editors are running from this one, but i think it can easily be cleared up if we stick to the topic. Whisper1234 (talk) 22:48, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
- I can try. I'm not on every day, so I can't guarantee that my involvement will lead to a quick resolution. -- Flyguy649 talk 04:00, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
Hi - I need ur help once more :D
editThis time I also need a few redirects removed.
I have an album and a song with the same name. I moved the album "Elements of Life" to "Elements of Life (album)" in preparation for making the article by the same name. So this needs to be gone.
Also, to make way for renaming an article to the name of one of its redirects, could you also delete this one? Dawnseekers needs to be renamed to Geert Huinink, the name of the main talent.
Thanks again for your help! E_dog95' Hi ' 17:23, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
- Hmmm... You can just re-write Elements of Life; deletion isn't necessary for that. The history won't matter as there is only one thing. I'll move Dawnseekers to Geert Huinink for you, though. -- Flyguy649 talk 18:34, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you Sir. E_dog95' Hi ' 17:39, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
Looks like they're running new Backyardigans episodes on Saturday now.
editAdmittedly, it beats the hell out of getting up at 5 AM on Monday to keep track of the new stuff, but there's no telling whether this is permanent. HalfShadow (talk) 03:11, 27 January 2008 (UTC)

- No, I'm in a more distant suburb called Toronto ;) But there's been coverage on the news about the flooding there off and on since December, I think. Apparently the hot water pipe is going to be working as of this week. Good to hear you're not affected. Cheers! -- Flyguy649 talk 21:38, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
