Blanking Entire Section of Koko Article

I'm not disputing whether something happened or not. I didn't even get that far. I removed the section because your sources were not adequate. One didn't say what you were saying it said; one was a dead link that therefore also didn't support anything, and one was a source that said lawsuits had been settled, which was useless without a discussion of what lawsuits those were, which, recursively, don't belong in the article unless they are reliably sourced. Statements that are not sourced or misleadingly sourced will be removed from the article.

So what you need to do if you want that section in the article is source statements such as "Three former female employees have claimed that they were pressured into showing their breasts to Koko" to an article that EXISTS and actually SAYS THAT. Right now, your sources are more or less useless, which makes the entire section subject to removal, as claiming a gorilla sexually harasses people without providing reliable sources to that fact is unencyclopedic.

First of all, they are not my sources. I didn't write the section or select the sources. Second, instead of saying what I need to do, or what will be done by you; if you can see so clearly what needs to be done, why don't you do it? That is, if what your are interested in is improving the article, what's stopping you from doing it? If you aren't really interested in doing what needs to be done, what are you interested in doing? So I'd like to say the same thing to you: I suggest that you fix that section and any other articles or sections of articles that you might find that have problems. By re-adding the section, you took responsibility for its contents - that is, you re-added it because you thought it belonged in the article, yes? Per WP:BURDEN, it is the responsibility of the editor who wants to add or restore challenged contents to an article to provide adequate sourcing. To quote directly from that policy, "The burden of evidence lies with the editor who adds or restores material.".

What's "stopping me from doing it" is that I have no particular feeling about whether a section discussing sexual harassment belongs in the article; I just want to make sure an inadequately- or falsely-sourced section isn't in it, so my concern is with that. Removing the inadequately-sourced section did improve the article. What's keeping you in this disagreement is that you apparently feel that the section should be allowed in the article. If that is the case, I stress again that it is your responsibility to make sure that content you want in the article is sourced. If you are unable or unwilling to adequately source the section you are adding, then being surprised and offended when the section is removed is, well...kind of silly. keɪɑtɪk flʌfi (talk) 15:06, 6 March 2010 (UTC)

Well, if you look into it a little, like maybe click on that link that I gave you above, you will agree that it belongs in the article. You say you are concerned with improving the article, but I don't think you are very concerned with that, actually, or you'd do something to fix the problem instead of destroying the entire section. So while you may be somewhat concerned about that, you obviously don't care too much, or you wouldn't have claimed that you tried to find a source to replace the dead link but it was too hard for you to do, when I just went to Google and found hundreds of such sources in like, I donno, two seconds. Third, fine, if you refuse to lift a finger to fix the problem, then I'll do it myself. Fouth, I'm not at all surprised that you did what you did because lots of people prefer to simply destroy things than to fix them. Fifth, as to being "offended", I have no idea why you said that. I'm just trying to be a good Wikipedian and defend and fix articles. I just wish that you people like you would try to fix problems instead of destroying articles or sections of articles, so maybe that's what you meant when you said "offended". If your search-fu is more powerful than mine, good for you.

GOCE Backlog Elimination Drive Wrap-up

Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors July 2010 Backlog Elimination Drive. Thanks to all who participated in the drive! Over 100 editors—including Jimbo Wales—signed up this time (nearly triple the participants of the May drive). This benefited the Guild as well as the articles in need of copy editing. You can see from the comparison graphs that we increased the number of completed copyedits substantially. Unfortunately, we were not able to meet our goal of completely wiping out 2008 from the queue. We also were not able to reduce the backlog to less than 6,000 articles. We suspect people were busy with real life summertime things, at least in the northern hemisphere! We were able to remove the months of January, February, March, April, and May from the backlog, and we almost wiped out the month of June. We reduced the backlog by 1,289 articles (17%), so all in all it was a very successful drive, and we will be holding another event soon. We'll come up with some new ideas to try to keep things fresh and interesting. Keep up the good work, everybody! Stats If you copy edited at least 4,000 words, you qualify for a barnstar. If you edited in the May 2010 GOCE Backlog Elimination Drive, your word totals are cumulative for barnstars (not the leaderboard). Over the course of the next week or two, we will be handing out the barnstars. Look, Cigammagicwizard, I already explained to you on your talk page that we don't censor spoilers, as complete information is very important to an encyclopedia. The connection between the two plots - the reason Devil is an homage to Christie - is the twist, not that a bunch of people are in a place and some die. That describes pretty much every mystery ever; the return of a "dead" character is a distinctive Christie plot. The connection between the two stories has been noted by Shyamalan himself, in reliable sources; ergo, the connection is notable and encyclopedic. If the connection is notable and encyclopedic, then it belongs in the encyclopedia. We are not "spoiler-free-apedia." We are Wikipedia.

If its just one of those blue moon occurrences, then so be it. If it isn't, then its socking, I appreciate you backing up Chaoticfluffy (sine you know him, acting as CU in this matter would be inapprorpiate anyway), but if he/she isn't playing by the rules, then there's a price to pay for that. The section is about cross breeding of Shih Tzu, so I added that they have been cross bred with Bulldogs, with the link used as the source to verify that. I'm sorry if I mistook you. I tend to assume that people adding links to things for sale are the people selling. With respect, I did not present you as a sock. Read the post again, Fluffy - I was seeking input on how to pursue RfCU in the future, as I had apparently handled the one regarding you so poorly that your claim that you weren't the IP in question was even challenged. More to the point, I did not name you when I asked for guidance; unfortunately, you have chosen to identify yourself. I did not call you - and am fairly certain that you are not - a sockmaster. I took special pains to keep your name from the discussion so as to make the question about how I should have pursued the action better, and nothing else. You should feel free to point out where I named you. Frankly, I think you just forgot to log in and were less than candid about that when asked twice. If it is bad faith to file an investigation I suspect socking, then there's a lot of bad faith occurring every time someone files a RfCU.

Moreover, it begs the question: why - after at least a month or two since we've had any contact whatsoever - are you stalking my edits? Shortly after the RfCU was declined, I removed you from my watchlist, and promptly forgot about you (though not the unusual action at CU). Initial Brooklyn Museum Trip

Oops, sorry, I missed this until just now. A bit late for telling you what to look out for, although even if I had seen it in time I would have been no good to you on that point anyway. I've never been to the museum, so you're now a step ahead of me in that respect!

Anyway, feel free to jump right into editing whatever bits of the article if you want. Off the top of my head for things you could work on, you could continue adding blurbs for each of the collections, which is what I've been focusing on, or you could edit the blurbs I've already done (I get to a point just before I hit "submit" where what I've written doesn't even look like English to me anymore, so any copy- or style editing is always welcome!), or you could start up the section Shelley mentioned in her email this morning, about the new media collaborations. Those aren't all you could do, by any means, but they're useful starting points if you need one. Pharos told me you're new to WP, but I'm not sure if you're so new that you might need some guidance on the how of editing or if you're ready to just get going right off. November 2010 backlog elimination drive update

Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors Backlog Elimination Drive! GOCE November 2010 backlog elimination drive progress graphs We have reached the midway point in our backlog elimination drive, so here is an update. Participation report — The November drive has 53 participants at this point. We had 77 participants in the September drive. In July, 95 people signed up for the drive, and in May we had 36. If you are not participating, it is not too late to join! Progress report — The drive is quite successful so far, as we have already almost reached our target of a 10% reduction in the number of articles in the backlog. We are doing very well at keeping our Requests page clear, as those articles count double for word count for this drive. Please keep in mind the possibility of removing other tags when you are finished with an article. If the article no longer needs {{cleanup}}, {{wikify}}, or other similar maintenance tags, please remove them, as this will make the tasks of other WikiProjects easier to complete. Yeah, true. We don't have a set agenda or anything, but I do know that there are at least vague plans to do something after we eat at Ollie's - after the last meetup, we went out for cupcakes, this time we might try to find brownies and/or go to a bar or something. I don't expect us to be breaking up as early as 6 or 7 unless something weird happens. November 2010 Backlog Elimination Drive Conclusion

Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors Backlog Elimination Drive! We have reached the end of our fourth backlog elimination drive. Thanks to all who participated. Stats GOCE November 2010 backlog elimination drive graphs 58 people signed up for this drive. Of these, 48 people participated in the drive. Although we did not eliminate the months we planned to (January, February, and March 2009; and August, September, and October 2010), we did reduce the backlog by 627 articles (11.2%), which was over our goal of 10%. 49 awards will go out to 33 of 48 participants. When I click on Cowdog in the Wikipedia Search Engine it leads me to the Border Collie page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cowdog . Hmmm. Looks like you've already done the first step and deleted the redirect, so now Cowdog doesn't just forward readers. The information you'll need to set it up as what we call a disambiguation page, linking to the various pages, is here. Basically, you would link to all the breed articles that people might be searching for when they type in "cowdog" from the Cowdog page. So something like:

Cowdog may refer to a variety of herding dog breeds:

• Border collie, (insert short description of border collie)
• Welsh Corgi, (insert short description of corgi)

...and so forth. Then slap {{disambig}} on the bottom of the page so it gets categorized as a disambiguation page, and you're pretty much set. - I would be open to pretty much any combination of email, IRC Chat, or the wiki talk page. I am very new to wikipedia but today will explore how to use the talk page and IRC Chat.

- I will most likely be doing my wiki-work some time during 7-5pm during the week & weekend.

GOCE January Backlog elimination drive conclusion

Guild of Copy Editors January 2011 Backlog elimination drive Greetings from the January 2011 Backlog elimination drive! We have reached the end of the month and the end of another successful drive; thanks to all who participated. Statistics 54 people signed up for the year's first Backlog elimination drive. Of these, 40 participated. One of our goals was to reduce the size of the backlog by at least 10%. We managed to reduce the backlog by 633 articles, or about 12%. Another goal was to eliminate as many 2009 months as possible from the queue. We eliminated January, February, March, and April—4 out of 12 months is not bad! In addition, we eliminated 37% of all remaining 2009 articles from the queue. Chaosdruid copy edited Kutch Gurjar Kashtriya for 32,711 words, which is the largest single article completed in one of our drives so far. This article counts as six 5000-K articles, and Chaosdruid wins the "most 5000-K articles" leaderboard category. Way to go! A complete list of individual results is here. Barnstars If you copy edited at least 4,000 words, you qualify for a barnstar. If you participated in the November 2010 Backlog elimination drive, you may have earned roll-over words (more details can be found here). These roll-over words count as credit towards earning barnstars, except for leaderboard awards. We will be delivering the barnstars within the next couple of weeks. Did you remove my addition? Why not permit it to stay, with a tag if necessary, until something that satisfies you as a "reliable source" is added? It is senseless to remove indubitably accurate information. You deny the opportunity for others to address a WP:V problem if you simply remove the content. Even now, I have a hard time figuring out from where you're arguing that the information is "indubitably accurate" rather than more of a blog-comment-rumor. Have you listened to Watson's voice and Jeff Woodman's voice? It's unmistakably the same voice. And it's not as if someone was out to "forge" his voice to confuse people. I'm still tracking down the radio program that he was on recently where he commented on doing the text-to-speech work for IBM. Until I do, I don't see a problem with keeping this information available. A lot of people are wondering who provided the voice, and a lot more people are going to be wondering when the programs air on television next week. Doubtlessly, these shows are going to be new ratings highs for Jeopardy!--the show has been promoting these matches like crazy.
