Other in the Combo box

Hi Florrie, could I pester you to have a look at the ru/rl combo infobox I've used on Colin Windon to see why the "Other" section (names of relatives) is not displaying . Rgds -Sticks66 14:24, 2 October 2008 (UTC)

Hiya - it looks as though the fields you were using - "family", "partner" etc have been removed from the template and there is only "relatives" that can be used. I moved the mum and dad and brother to relatives and it shows without a problem. I also gave him an occupation and that showed too (on preview). It doesn't seem to matter if you have "other" set to "yes" or not, as you can see, Windon currently doesn't have "yes" set but the relatives are showing. Looks like the articles with the previous version of the template need to be updated (see Rocky Elsom for example) - or the template fixed. Cheers! Florrieleave a note 00:35, 3 October 2008 (UTC)

Graham Murray

(as posted at Londo06's talk page.): I don't understand why you persist in adding a blog link to Graham Murray to reference his departure from the Cowboys. The fact is already covered in the article and there are reliable third party sources referenced in support. Surely you have been editing around Wikipedia long enough to know the policy on reliable sources and the use of blogs? Only the other day at WP:RLT you were lamenting the number of well sourced articles in rugby league yet here you are diluting attempts to improve the reliability of articles by adding SPS! Florrieleave a note 04:38, 5 October 2008 (UTC)

I did take on board the links that you left in the edit summaries I have always taken that site to be entirely accurate in the facts that it delivers and as such does not constitute a problem with regards to the issues raised. In relation to the Graham Murray case I totally understand your point on the references later on, I just felt that the information needed to ride up front, and as such a reference was required. I do understand the view that it is not an official SL or NRL site, but once again have found it to be reliable source.Londo06 06:12, 5 October 2008 (UTC)
No offence, but your opinion as to reliability doesn't matter. The fact is, if you look, there are third party reliable sources available and these should be used in all instances. An SFS blog is an SFS blog. If you indeed feel that the information is vital to Murray's lede, it will be easy enough to move a reliable reference to the lede to support it. Florrieleave a note 09:19, 5 October 2008 (UTC)
I am happy that the lead has a reference. Cheers fella.Londo06 09:29, 5 October 2008 (UTC)

Brett Hodgson

I am genuinely trying to push the article forwards. By that I believe that his future contract to be taken up when his Wests contract expires in November should ride up front. With regards to the information given by yourself on the link I cannot concur with your understanding. I will add a further reference alongside that one as an attempt at being cordial.Londo06 13:22, 6 October 2008 (UTC)

You're off

Now that is a shame. If there's an editor I most enjoy working with it's you Florrie. I respect your sensibilities, value your maturity and always appreciate your attitude (though I've noticed you suffer fools a little less gladly these days !) Good luck with your venture, I hope you come back soon and if you stay frustrated with RL come dabble in RU where there is an abundant pool of Wallaby feats, tours, old players and tales of yore still to be written about. My thanks and best wishes -Sticks66 10:19, 7 October 2008 (UTC)

I am also now resting from the WikiProject. Though not stopping editing RL and other articles. I will watch over th eproject to make sure there are no modifications to any thing I have spent countless times trying to defend, but other than that am not going to dab in the project until next year. The three mini-projects I aim to have done by then are 1) Complete the list of "new=yes" removals, 2) Complete Justin Hodges, South Queensland Crushers, WA Reds and Northern Eagles to good articles and 3) Add a sentence or two to the Australian Schoolboys players to represent the material I've just mostly removed. Any help in (especially #1) would be appeciated and good luck and hope to see you back.  The Windler talk  08:22, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
No worries, I'll chip away when the inclination hits/time allows :) I'm a WA Reds foundation member so I may direct a little energy in that direction also. Take care. Florrieleave a note 08:41, 10 October 2008 (UTC)

Sad to see you go again, but I certainly understand why. All the best with the shop - I hope business is good for you both. Maybe I'll see you back on here sometime soon. Cheers, MDM (talk) 10:53, 10 October 2008 (UTC)

Back today on and off to help with the schoolboys :) Florrieleave a note 11:00, 10 October 2008 (UTC)

3RR

We're certainly not involved in a 3RR. It's been brought up at the community and I've left my comments there. Good that we can be civil though.Londo06 13:49, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

1, 2, 3 Not involved in 3RR? Mate, go read WP:3RR. You reverted me twice, I placed a warning and invitation to discuss, you reverted me again. Florrieleave a note 14:18, 11 October 2008 (UTC)
For sure, that first sentence was my attempt to bring the olive branch; when said out loud it would be said in a friendly, almost jokingly sort of way. I was also going with the strict interpretation of the 3RR with the exact reversion, but I can see where I may have transgressed. Have left the article in a state that works for me. It was always my plan to remedy the situation, but time constraints, you know.Londo06 14:28, 11 October 2008 (UTC)
As long as it works for you, that's the important thing. Funny thing, time constraints. My precious Wiki-time is spent tidying up other people's shoddy/lazy/tabloid/mass-produced editing. Be nice if everyone put in a bit of effort and there'd be more time for meaningful article improvement in our combined limited time, I'm sure you'd agree. Or I suppose I could take a leaf out of other RL editor's books and simply cut loose any current players as a bad loss and use my Wiki-time to concentrate on really notable past players. There's a thought... Florrieleave a note 14:44, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

Jack Stack article

You participated in an AfD Discussion on the article Jack Stack that resulted in that article being deleted. I have done some more research and have found a professional career and other sources and believe that the subject now meets WP:ATHLETE. Because normally articles like this are almost always kept, I decided to be bold and just place the article back where it was with the updates. However, if you still believe that there is a reason to delete this article, we can take it to any discussion forum you prefer.

To be fair, I am notifying everyone who made a comment on the AfD. If you wish to make any comments, it might be best to put them on the article's talk page.--Paul McDonald (talk) 03:03, 3 November 2008 (UTC)

Also, Mack Flenniken who had a professional career with the New York Giants and Chicago Cardinals.--Paul McDonald (talk) 03:50, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
WOOPS Typo--it is Jack Sack not Jack Stack. Apologies.--Paul McDonald (talk) 12:00, 3 November 2008 (UTC)

Pics in infoboxes

Hey F, hope you and the new business are both prospering. Just added a short article on Ron Roberts which prompts me to ask whether anything can be done to control the size of image that appear in infoboxes. There's no ability anymore to reduce the size of the shot ? In the case of the Roberts pic (and also on Noel Pidding) it's such lo-res that a smaller thumb would give sharper representation. Any ideas ? -Sticks66 12:52, 8 November 2008 (UTC)

There's an "image size" field now. Just pop the pixel size in that field. I made them both 100px but you can always adjust them if you don't think they look right. Cheers! Florrieleave a note 01:31, 9 November 2008 (UTC)
Thx, BTW I'm unsure if User:GarethHolteDavies was also a sock for Londo)6 . Was that how it turned out ? -Sticks66 13:22, 9 November 2008 (UTC)
Not proven beyond doubt, but those investigating seemed to think it likely based on WP:DUCK. It's all here if you want the ins and outs of who is who is who is Londo06...that we know of. Florrieleave a note 13:35, 9 November 2008 (UTC)

How about a new userbox "This user believes that life's too short to spend it arguing with Londo06". It could be standard issue when one joins WP:RL and also WP:RU now too by the look of how things are going over there. -Sticks66 12:36, 12 November 2008 (UTC)

Yes, and I just read that he's got another sock - or meat - puppet in Wasps FC. So how many chances does this moron get? He's like a spoilt child who has to get his own way and will cheat/lie/obfusticate to get it. It'd be nice to be able to put some users on "ignore". I'll make you the userbox. :) Florrieleave a note 12:41, 12 November 2008 (UTC)

Two column reference

Hi-di-hi. Is there a way to get a narrow list of references appear as two columns. Such as would look good here. Cheers -Sticks66 12:43, 19 November 2008 (UTC)

Yep. {{reflist|2}} does the job. :) Florrieleave a note 13:13, 19 November 2008 (UTC)
So that's what the 2 does. Ta -Sticks66 13:25, 19 November 2008 (UTC)
Yes, and I'm guessing a 3 might do even more! Florrieleave a note 13:28, 19 November 2008 (UTC)

Left a note at Talk:Dean_Lance#Infobox_football. I thought you agreed with most of the reasoning for inclusion of football in the infobox outlined on my talk page.--Jeff79 (talk) 21:10, 28 November 2008 (UTC)
