April 2011

edit

Please stop edit warring at Ahava. In particular, you have no consensus to remove the image in question. Four different editors (Noon, myself, Sean.hoyland, and ElComandanteChe) have supported inclusion of the image in the article, while no other editors agree with you. The image shows what the product looks like and illustrates one way that the product is marketed. Use of the image doesn't "promote" the company any more than any image about any product promotes it; see for instance the Chevrolet Corvette article, which includes many product images including several with models in them.

I realize that everything having to do with Israeli-Palestinian relations gets emotional, but your objections basically come down to your WP:IDONTLIKEIT antipathy towards the company. Also realize that all articles related to the Arab–Israeli conflict are on a tighter leash regarding edit warring and that you've already crossed the line. Wasted Time R (talk) 13:07, 23 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Edit warring will be reported. You have no consensus for removing the image. You have also removed the lead section. That is vandalism. Please stop.--Geewhiz (talk) 07:04, 1 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
And I thought you might be capable of productive editing. Seems like I misjudged, but I still hope I am proven wrong. Maybe you should try your skills at editing a different subject, possibly one that is less connected to your personal politics. Introducing weasel wording into articles and deleting sourced material is not the purpose of Wikipedia.--Geewhiz (talk) 05:44, 8 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You could also click on the signature button   located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 05:33, 2 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Edit warring at Ahava, an article subject to WP:ARBPIA

edit
The Arbitration Committee has permitted administrators to impose discretionary sanctions (information on which is at Wikipedia:Arbitration Committee/Discretionary sanctions) on any editor who is active on pages broadly related to the Arab-Israeli conflict. Discretionary sanctions can be used against an editor who repeatedly or seriously fails to adhere to the purpose of Wikipedia, any expected standards of behavior, or any normal editorial process. If you engage in further inappropriate behavior in this area, you may be placed under sanctions, which can include blocks, a revert limitation, or an article ban. The Committee's full decision can be read in the Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Palestine-Israel articles#Final decision section of the decision page.

Please familiarise yourself with the information page at Wikipedia:Arbitration Committee/Discretionary sanctions, with the appropriate sections of Wikipedia:Arbitration Committee/Procedures, and with the case decision page.

You have broken the WP:1RR restriction at Ahava by reverting twice in one day on August 4. Please be aware that articles related to the Arab-Israeli conflict are monitored by admins, and you could be subject to sanctions if the problem continues. Thank you, EdJohnston (talk) 20:58, 5 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Floccinauci, you have broken WP:1RR once again with this edits: [1], [2]. Please read the policy and follow it. Next time I'll report you, and most probably your account will be blocked for some time. --ElComandanteChe (talk) 16:23, 9 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Talk page

edit

Hi Floccinauci, I'm happy to help. Where it says "Thank you, EdJohnston (talk)" you can click the '(talk)' link in blue and it will take you through to Ed's talk page. When people sign with four tildas ~~~~ this signature format is standard and the (talk) link will always take you to the signers talk page. The first bit - in this case,EdJohnston will link you to the user's profile page. It's worth exploring the time difference things. I'm sure it must have come up before. Hope that helps. Happy editing. Go gently. Span (talk) 16:21, 8 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Please do not add unsourced content, as you did to Ahava. This contravenes Wikipedia's policy on verifiability. If you continue to do so, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Please stop edit warring. Marokwitz (talk) 13:02, 9 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

The content for which you have provided no source was "However no independent scientific evidence has been adduced in support of this claim." Marokwitz (talk) 10:32, 10 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly on this. I have previously replaced this rider after seeking advice from the Wikipedia Live chat help page where I was advised that the inclusion of such a rider is acceptable where no scientific evidence is cited for the claims/beliefs stated in the immediately preceding section. When I first used it I thought it was less aggressive that deleting dubious commercial claims, and that perhaps it is indeed reasonable for the article to have information about the sorts of beliefs and claims around cosmetics. However this approach means it must be made clear that these are nothing but beliefs/claims, not scientifically proven facts. It is of course impossible to cite a source for something that does not exist. Anyway, interested to hear your views. Floccinauci (talk) 10:40, 10 August 2011 (UTC)

You always can cite source for the claim that something does not exist. God nonexistence is the ultimate example. Anything else is not verifiable and does not belong to encyclopedia. Please see the verifiability policy. (And take a look into the fundamental principles of Wikipedia (or five pillars) if you have a couple of minutes). --ElComandanteChe (talk) 12:59, 10 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Yes but the sentence to which you object does not say that the properties claimed do not exist. It merely clarifies that at this stage they are claims or beliefs which do not yet have an empirical basis. This is why I am puzzled as to why people oppose it. BTW I am trying the talkback template for the first time so not sure if I have done it correctly. Floccinauci

That sentence is not verifiable. --ElComandanteChe (talk) 13:44, 10 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Your draft article, Draft:Women's International Motorcycle Association

edit

Hello, Floccinauci. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Women's International Motorcycle Association".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thank you for your submission to Wikipedia! CptViraj (📧) 04:52, 8 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
