Hello BuySomeApples,

I have thoroughly read through the Wikipedia article for notability, and I believe that five of the 14 cited references meet the four criteria of being in-depth, reliable, secondary, and strictly independent sources. One citation is a press release which was published by an independent news organization - I will remove this one. The other references are supporting material, such as citations for government grant funding, professional society memberships, and a patent publication. These remaining citations all meet the bar for three of the four reference criteria, but are not in-depth. Should I remove these supporting citations as well?

Paid editing

Hello FlashMechy. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:FlashMechy. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=FlashMechy|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. Thank you for your detailed message, and my apologies for my delayed response; I was not feeling well yesterday. I have thoroughly reviewed both the mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements and the conflict of interest pages, and believe myself to be a neutral party. I am not, nor have I been, paid or commissioned to work on this article, though I am genuinely interested in what this company is doing. I have a colleague who works at TCG Machines, but they are not an owner. It is my understanding of the COI guidelines that this does not present a conflict of interest, but if I am mistaken, then I will add a COI declaration.

This is my first attempt at a Wikipedia article, so I do apologize if I have missed the mark in terms of neutral tone. If you could provide me with some specifics on which sections need to be changed or removed, that would be very much appreciated. Thank you for your response! I was beginning to feel like I was alone on the internet. My colleague and I shared a previous employer (not TCG Machines), so we have that social connection. Okay, that would count as a conflict of interest; typically articles are written without any communication with the subject(or its representatives) or even the knowledge of the subject. That you are in communication with a company employee is something other editors should be aware of. 331dot (talk) 15:31, 5 December 2023 (UTC)

My interpretation from Wikipedia's conflict of interest page was that I am at arms length. Specifically this passage:

"Any external relationship—personal, religious, political, academic, legal, or financial (including holding a cryptocurrency)—can trigger a COI. How close the relationship needs to be before it becomes a concern on Wikipedia is governed by common sense."

But I am fine with flagging myself as being a conflict of interest, as my situation can clearly be interpreted as such. I am new to Wiki, so please forgive my lack of process here. As I understand it, I need to place this:{{connected contributor}} at the top of the affected talk page, which would be the Talk Page for the article. I will attempt to do that now. So the notice you placed on this page is meant for article or draft talk pages, not user talk pages. WP:COI describes the format to use for a notice on your user page, User:FlashMechy. 331dot (talk) 16:10, 5 December 2023 (UTC)

Hello Fermiboson,

Thank you for taking the time to review my submission. Please appreciate that my latest, minor edit was not the only attempt I have made to write this article in a neutral manner. I can certainly do more, but I think we may just disagree on what is "fluff" and what is relevant information. The idea of an encyclopedia article (or more specifically, a Wikipedia article, in this case) is to present information on a topic. That said, I take your point, and I will try and cut down on extraneous information.

Of note, the word "avid" does not appear in this article, so I am not sure what you are referring to there. The word "lifelong" is used, and I will remove it in my next edit. If you have any other specific criticisms, I would be happy to hear them so I can address them directly.
