October 2023 edit

Hello. Some of your recent genre changes have conflicted with our neutral point of view and/or verifiability policies. While we invite all users to contribute constructively to Wikipedia, we urge all editors to provide reliable sources for edits made. When others disagree, we recommend you seek consensus for certain edits by discussing the matter on the article's talk page. Thank you. Andrzejbanas (talk) 03:44, 6 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Multiple accounts edit

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 1 week for abusing multiple accounts. Note that multiple accounts are allowed, but not for illegitimate reasons, and any contributions made while evading blocks or bans may be reverted or deleted. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please review Wikipedia's guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Ponyobons mots 23:51, 22 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

How did I ever abuse it? I just used it to stop genre warriors and I never edited with the two accounts on one article. I don’t get why I should be banned for protecting articles that get unexplained changes. Figurila (talk) 06:04, 23 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
And if I did use two accounts it must of just been a mistake correcting something from one of my devices to another but never for “illegitimate reasons.” The edits I was reverting just got reverted and now are inaccurate. Figurila (talk) 06:09, 23 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
That’s not even sockpuppeting because I used both accounts constantly on different devices and not just to make a lot of bad edits and discard the account, I was helping the pages I was editing. Only one edit that I made that was for good reasons got me banned now. Figurila (talk) 06:11, 23 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
This isn't fair that I can just get banned for "abusing multiple accounts" while some users make unprecedented changes that make no sense. Especially now that I just got some of my edits reverted for trying to solve this. Figurila (talk) 06:21, 23 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Your use of your undeclared 99moas account was a blatant policy violation. You used your second account to restore edits made by this account (here for example) and have cross over on multiple articles. You are the genre warrior, and you have socked to continue your edit warring. You are not banned, you are blocked for 1 week. This is the only timed block you will receive. Any further instances of socking, including the use of logged out edits to add or restore disputed edits, will lead to an indefinite block.-- Ponyobons mots 23:08, 23 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
The edits were months apart that I didn’t even know that I had edited on that account. I don’t know how i’m the genre warrior for just keeping the genre the same after somebody changes it without reason. One edit months apart does not mean i’m socking to continue my “edit warring” when i’m just keeping things how they are. Maybe somebody should check up on these unexplained changes and not blame the person who is trying to prevent them. And now, the article you linked has stayed the same because of my edit to preserve the genre. Figurila (talk) 01:19, 24 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
The policy states that multiple accounts are allowed, but not for illegitimate reasons. The Sockpuppeting rule states that one cannot contribute to a page with more than 1 account pretending to be different people. I never said or tried to give off any illusion that my other account was another person. I admitted to having two accounts. Figurila (talk) 01:58, 24 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Another example, from the same page you linked, an unauthorized user who to you isn’t the genre warrior, changes the genre of the page of Knocked Loose without explanation, and only for personal preferences. Knocked Loose’s top genre in the info box is metalcore, and their most commonly referred to genre is metalcore. Unauthorized user changes it to hardcore punk over their preferences and I, the apparent genre warrior, changes it back as they have no reason to why it should be changed. The next year, I check and it has been changed again, with no reason. I use the account that was logged into the device I was using without giving off the impression that I was using two accounts to pretend to be seperate people and not even remembering that I had used another account to edit. With good intentions, I changed it back to stop the people who apparently aren’t the genre warriors to you. And I get blocked for those edits all the while the other people who to you aren’t genre warring, change my edits back to misleading genres with either no source, or a source that doesn’t even use the genre in a literal sense. Architects’ debut album Nightmares is known as a mathcore album drawing influence from The Dillinger Escape Plan, so I correct it as that with a source that says that Nightmares is a mathcore album. Another user genre wars and changes it to melodic metalcore with a source that only claims that their songs had “melodic influences.” Now that i’m blocked, that user gets no warning or repercussion and continues to make misleading edits. All my edits that you consider “genre warring” are all backed up by reliable sources that clearly state the idea of a band or album being a certain genre. You’re accusing me of being a genre warrior while ignoring the users that make sometimes ridiculous edits and get no warning or anything, and you search for one simple mistake that was for good intentions to block me and accuse me of “sockpuppeting to continue my genre warring.” Figurila (talk) 02:23, 24 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Keep me blocked, and just let more misleading edits be passed, then. Figurila (talk) 02:28, 24 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
You are trying to explain the WP:SOCK policy to an adminstrator and checkuser who is well versed in the policy, and failing. None of your posts above explain how your edits fall into the WP:SOCKLEGIT category. You did not just edit 1 article, 1 time, months apart. Out of 37 edits made with your 99moas account, 11 of those edits were to articles you also edited as Figurila, including at Knocked Loose, where your edits in September were separated by only 5 minutes. Can you provide me a link as to where, prior to the block, you openly disclosed the connection between your two accounts in compliance with WP:SOCK#NOTIFY? -- Ponyobons mots 20:07, 24 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
I was never trying to explain it to you, I was just reinstating what the policy says. I cannot find a link where I said before that 99moas was my alternative account. I don’t really care anymore and i’ll just take my punishment and i’ll fix vandalism and mistakes like I was. I’m still probably considered the genre warrior and the others who use bad sources that ignore the neutral point of view. I have already found 2 accounts of that while I have been blocked. I understand what I did wrong and I will try not to make the same mistake as I am still learning. Remember that I didn’t mean to do this with bad intentions, only to revert unsourced edits.
