  Thank you for your contributions. Please mark your edits as "minor" only if they are minor edits. In accordance with Help:Minor edit, a minor edit is one that the editor believes requires no review and could never be the subject of a dispute. Minor edits consist of things such as typographical corrections, formatting changes or rearrangement of text without modification of content. Additionally, the reversion of clear-cut vandalism and test edits may be labeled "minor". Thank you. 220 of Borg 10:14, 15 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

About Giraffe edit

  Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Giraffe a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Giraffe (Giraffa) Jesse Viviano (talk) 16:42, 9 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

I sincerely apologize for what happened. I tried to move "Giraffe (Giraffa)" back its original article, everything back to normal after things were done but it wasn't possible for some reason. I also figured out that it would also split the page history and talk pages. Believe me, I was really hands-on trying to fix things up. ^.^;
Thank you for restoring everything back to normal. And I will be more careful next time.--FierceJake754 (talk) 02:28, 10 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
If there is a page in the way of your move, first check to see if the page you are trying to move is a cut and paste move. See Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Fixing cut-and-paste moves for how to request a cut and paste move be fixed if you find one. Second, if the page in the way is not a cut and paste move, use Wikipedia:Requested moves to request the move. Jesse Viviano (talk) 16:01, 10 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

The Kalahari lion: Bridge between Transvaal and Katanga lions? edit

The map provided by Haas et al. (2005),[1] showing the ranges of lions suggests that lions in the Kalahari xeric savanna may be both Panthera leo krugeri and Panthera leo bleyenberghi. Also, they have physical characteristics, like being lighter than lions in Mesic habitats, or taller at the shoulder than them, given by Roderigues (1997),[2] and they used to be seen as a subspecies of their own, with the taxonomic name "Panthera leo vernayi."[3] For these reasons, I think that it should be an article, rather than a redirect to another article, what about you? Leo1pard (talk) 13:18, 10 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

I don't know. As interesting as it is, I think you can make an article about that. But did any of them mention about "Panthera leo vernayi" being a distinct subspecies from Transvaal and Katanga specimen?--FierceJake754 (talk) 13:31, 10 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

KwaZulu-Natal versus Kalahari Region edit

Hi, I would like to mention that the KwaZulu-Natal is not part of the Kalahari Region, so those lions would not be Kalahari lions, in the geographical sense. In fact, the rather 'buff' male looks different to male Kalahari lions, a number of which look skinny by comparison, check images: (https://www.google.ae/search?q=Kalahari+lion&client=opera&hs=dhV&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjx2PPh3uzQAhUCuhQKHREjASYQ_AUICCgB&biw=1326&bih=630). Snow Leopard edit

On the Wiki page you stated, "Unusually among cats, snow leopards also eat a significant amount of vegetation, including grass and twigs." Cats only eat grass when they're sick or chew on grass when they're curious. It's not for nutritional benefits. And cats always throw up after eating any plants. I don't think you described a Snow Leopard's diet well. Logic truth1 (talk) 21:42, 25 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

The Tanzanian or East African cheetah edit

Initially, the Tanzanian cheetah (formerly Acinonyx jubatus raineyi) was considered to be a subspecies of its own, before genetic tests demonstrated that it is related to the Southern African cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus jubatus), and then in 2017, the Cat Classification Taskforce of the Cat Specialist Group revised subspecies of felids including the cheetah, so now the East African cheetah is included in the Southern cheetah subspecies (Acinonyx jubatus jubatus).[4] Can we merge your article into Southern cheetah? Leo1pard (talk) 13:12, 7 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

I'm sorry, but I'll have to decline. Have the other articles like Siberian tiger and Asiatic lion merge with their nominate subspecies due to the CATSG revising subspecies of felids, I probably would have done the same by merging the East African cheetah to the South African cheetah. But the articles remain for a reason, don't they?FierceJake754 (talk) 13:20, 7 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
There was previously a suggestion to merge Siberian tiger with another article, but a difference between Siberian tiger and Asiatic lion on one hand and your article on the other is the tremendous difference in size. East African cheetah is less than 30 KB, whereas Siberian tiger and Asiatic lion are over 80 KB each, which is what has impeded that from happening. Leo1pard (talk) 14:29, 7 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
Southern cheetah is nearly 60 KB, so a merger with East African cheetah may give an article that rivals Asiatic lion and Siberian tiger in size. Leo1pard (talk) 16:31, 7 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

I have though of something different. Since the names of the Eastern and Southern African populations of the cheetah are often used, I think that "East-Southern African cheetah" makes sense for the subspecies, especially if we had to merge "Southern cheetah" and "East African cheetah".[5] Leo1pard (talk) 05:03, 4 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

Southern cheetah has been renamed East-Southern African cheetah, for reasons that I mentioned above. I would like to merge East African cheetah with that, since the name of the East African population is somewhat obvious in the newly named article, and to avoid confusion with the Northeast African cheetah, which is a separate subspecies. Leo1pard (talk) 09:39, 6 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
