Felix, a few hints for you:

1) Editors are not on Wikipedia 24 hours a day. Just because you don't get a reply within 30 seconds does not mean someone is ignorning you, it may just mean they are off doing something else

2) SHOUTING AT PEOPLE IN ALL CAPS is a sure-fired way to get your question ignored

3) Demanding an answer over and over again is another certain way to get your question ignored

4) Leaving messages on your own talk page is generally not a good way to get someone's attention. The usual etiquette at Wikipedia is to politely ask a question on the talk page of the user you want to contact.

5) I have no special relationship to the publisher of Thomas the Tank Engine books. I have no idea if Clive Spong is alive or not, or any other information like that. Demanding answers to questions that I have no way of answering is not going to get you anywhere.

6) You have no right to get any and every question you might ask answered. Getting angry and abusive towards someone is a very, very poor way to get them to help you. If you persist in being incivil you may find yourself blocked from editing Wikipedia again.

Felix asked me if you two would make a book called Mountain Diesels and New Engines, a sequel to Mountain Engines, because Felix adds the diesels and other engines on the Culdee Fell Railway article and I had to remove them. Please make the book and when it's sold in Amazon.co.uk and making Google find it in any mention, I'll re-add the rest of the engines on the Culdee Fell Railway,

Im sure if and its a big if Christopher Awdry has read the Wikipedia Culdee Fell articles and this talk page he will know why the other engies have been removed as they have never been created by him, his father or the makers of the TV series and so are not canon. The Culdee Fell Railway is based on the Snowdon Mountain Railway. The SMR has diesels, according to the pictures, besides steam engines. I think the CFR should have diesels too. Felix 20:15, 23 July 2006

I personally wouldn't mind seeing stories about the branch lines of Sodor that are shown on the maps but have never been mentioned in the stories or more about the Mid Sodor Railway but I know this will never happen. Yes its quite possible that the CFR could have diesels working on it but only the owners of the Railway Series (who are not the Awdry family) can licence books to be written about them and assign them names not fans of the books like ourselves Penrithguy 01:41, 24 July 2006 (UTC)

The CFR will have diesels and the other engines (the other engines were the ones transferred from various rack railways to the CFR), when I sent the letter I wrote to Mr. Awdry to him. Here are what the other engines were transferred from:

• Billy - Steam engine from Schneebergbahn
• Bonnie - Steam engine from Manitou and Pike's Peak Railway
• Malfoy - Steam engine from Mount Washington Cog Railway
• Carl - Steam engine from Drachenfels Railway
• Judy - Steam engine from Budapest Cog-wheel Railway
• Cassidy - Steam engine from Nilgiri Mountain Railway
• Kate - Diesel-electric engine from Brünigbahn
• Todd - Steam engine from Brienz Rothorn Bahn
• Grover - Steam engine from Achenseebahn
• Hector - Steam engine from Mount Generoso

Also, Maisy, Nate and Rover were based on the diesel railcars from the SMR.

The basises of the diesels:

• Norman - Ninian
• Betty - Yeti
• Phyllis - Peris
• George - George (same name)

Felix, please stop uploading images that you have found on the web. Several of these are definite copyright violations, and I suspect that others are too. I m working my way through the list and will tag copyrighted images and list them here. While its certainly preferable to have pictures for every article, that does not mean you can illegally copy anything you like. When you add content to Wikipedia it is automatically licensed using the GFDL. If the work is already copyrighted under a different license (as most content form websites is) then adding it to Wikipedia is an infringement of the copyright holder's legal rights. This means both Wikipedia and you could potentilly be taken to court and in the worst case forced to pay damages. This is not something that you want to have happen. TV Series

When will the Culdee Fell Railway appear in the television series? It feels like it's been ages.

This is meant constructively, not offensively. You need to understand that the TV Series and the Railway Series are two completely different series, although one came from the other they have ended up quite different.

The Culdee Fell Railway is unlikely to ever appear on television. It would be prohibitively expensive to produce eight new engine characters as well as the appropriate coaches and trucks, as well the huge sets you'd need, just for four stories. Plus, the television series hasn't used stories from the books since Season 4.

I agree, but that doesn't mean you can copy someone else's image. Its illegal and against the rules of Wikipedia. You can only add images to Wikipedia that you have the legal rights to. To do this you can:

1) Take your own pictures and give Wikipedia permission to use them

2) Get permission from the copyright owner to use images on Wikipedia

3) Find public domain images that can be used on Wikipedia

From a copyright viewpoint its probably okay since you've made an original alteration to a (maybe) copyrighted work. I am not a lawyer though so can't give you a definitive answer. You do need to add your own license to the image though, as currently it is unlicensed and will be deleted. Which article are you planning to add this to? What will it add to the article? Unlicensed Images

Hi again Felix,

I see you have uploaded a series of your fan pics. These are good. However I see that you have not provided sources or licenses for any of these. When you upload an image you'll see a form that has several fields for you to fill in. In the summary field you must enter the source for the image. For images you have created yourself, enter something like "Author: Felix Chang" which tells us that you created the image.

You'll also see a field called Licensing which has a drop-down menu of options. You must choose one of these. In your case, since these are images you created, you probably want to use the "GFDL (self made)" option from the menu (its near the top). Once you do this you are allowing anyone to use your image for any purpose.

If you don't nominate a source and license for your image it will be deleted from Wikipedia after about 10 days. All images on Wikipedia must have a source and a license.

However, given that all the charascters mentioned on this page are only seen in the Railway Seies, and some not at all (Toby's brothers for example), the Members of WikiProject Thomas are planning to create a Minor Characters (The Railway Series) page for characters such as these. Felix, a suggestion:

• Firstly I suggest you read the following Wikipedia articles: Fan fiction; Fanon (fiction).
• Having done so I would suggest you register an account at FanFiction.net (go here), and then go to their section dedicated to Thomas the Tank Engine. You can then submit your own "Mountain Diesels" story - I'm sure there are people there who would love to read it. After all, you might as well do something useful until your Wikipedia block expires.
• If and when you have written it - put a link to it on your User Page so people here can look if they want to (but please don't add links to articles or their talk pages.)

Hopefully we can all get on with writing an encyclopedia - something we hope you will do to (according to THE RULES) when your block expires.

Accusations of vandalism should not be thrown around lightly, Felix. There are no diesels on the Culdee Fell Railway, no matter how much you wish it so. It is extraordinarily unlikely that Christopher Awdry will write a book about them, because he hasn't published a book in 10 years and doesn't have a contract from the owners of the Railway Series that would allow him to do so. Let me get this straight. The reason you want these books to be made is simply so that your fake entries won't be deleted? Why don't you just go to a fan fiction site or something instead of wasting your time and ours? It's quite clear that you don't understand how publishing and writing work. There are copyright issues. There are financial issues.

In any case, Christopher Awdry has said that the Culdee Fell Railway is almost impossible to write for, which is why he never wrote any stories about it while the Railway Series was still expanding.

Felix - one of the reasons why a sequel to 'Mountain Engines' was never made is because there are no authentic incidences to base stories on. To quote Christopher Awdry in 'RBTL' - 'Though 'incidents' at Snowdon may perhaps seem over-frequent, one of the reasons why the book has never bad a successor is largely because, since the line is unique to Britian, there are in fact very few authentic incidents on which stories can be based'. Taking this into account, it is therefore impossible for your fantasy book about 'Mountain Diesels' to exist.

Another thing I would like to say is that your argument about the diesel engines is flawed. You keep saying that because Snowdon has diesel engines, therefore the CVR must have them too. To once again quote Awdry - 'Though the Culdee Fell Railway has close affinities with the Snowdon Mountain Railway in North Wales, I do not believe that my father intended any of the engines...to be specifically assossiated with any of the SMR locomotives'. This proves that despite their similarities, the two railways are unique, and are not meant to mirror each other down to the detail. I wrote a message to Christopher Awdry, Gwernol. I think the old station house, Oundle, Peterborough, PE8 5LA is possibly his exact address. He might understand me about publishing the book Mountain Diesels and New Engines once the message is sent to him. I also need to print out the other characters from the Culdee Fell Railway at Paint (the program), so Christopher Awdry would use the pics for the illustrations. Once the book's complete, he'll sell it in Amazon.co.uk and in many stores (inculding USA) and making sure there's a Google search to find it in any mention. By the way, are there or are there not models of the Snowdon Mountain Railway locomotives, coaches and trucks?

Smokey Joe is owned by Hornby. It's their creation, it's been in their range since 1983, it will never be used in the Railway Series.

There are lots of Thomas fans who would like to see new Railway Series books, including Christopher Awdry himself. It ain't gonna happen.

The Island of sodor was created in the 1950s by the Rev W Awdry as a setting for his books he placed the island within the British Isles at a point in the Irish Sea between the Isle of Man and the Furness penisula in North West England the distance between Man and Furness is only something like 40 miles or so and that is why Sodor is small although the TV version seems to be considerably larger and has no connections to any other islands although it is undoubtebly British. One thing, Gwernol, why did the users from YouTube removed the episodes from Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends? For example, Nanaki001, Shining23, jw24, benr1512, Damo833, mousepound64 (removes only Edward the Really Useful Engine and Thomas and the Jet Engine), Canyouguess and supermetriod26 had entirely removed all the Thomas the Tank Engine episodes. Why do they do that? How come Nanaki001 flagged Sore Ga, Ai Deshou (the Thomas the Tank Engine version), thomasandtoby1 flagged part 1 of the Bachmann Episodes, Percy's Branchline and benr1512 flagged Thomas and the effects of drinking? Please either remove the image or show that you have permission. I am going to remove the image now since there is serious doubt about its legality. If you do have permission, then you can reupload the image after you have shown evidence of that permission.

There's nothing to stop you making a fan movie and putting it online (assuming HIT didn't object). Perhaps you could adapt second-hand Ertl models to create the other characters. Ertl would be unable to make the new characters. Every new character costs money to develop, and so they have to guarantee that the models would sell. Minor Characters (The Railway Series)

Hi Felix. Just wanted to say thank you for finding and adding the links for the real engines at the National Railway Museum on the Minor Characters (The Railway Series) page.

This sort of editing is really helpful to Wikipedia in general and WikiProject Thomas specifically. We welcome your constructive contributions.

However, please expect some comments from other project members about the many new pages you have created for the individual engines from the Arlesdale Railway, etc. The main aim of WikiProject Thomas is to reduce the number of small pages associated with Thomas, combining the essential information into pages of related characters. This is going to take us MUCH longer if other editors continue to add new stubs for each character. (This is a futile exercise anyway, as they will just be deleted as part of the project, so there's really no point you creating them.)

I am sure that my fellow project members would welcome your enthusiasm and assistance which could be very beneficial in completing the project more quickly. Please have a look at the WikiProject Thomas page to see how you can help us.

First, most of these are not real engines of the CFR. They are engines you or your friends have made up. Producing a commercial model costs tens if not hundreds of thousands of dollars. In order to justify these costs ERTL would have to sell many thousands of models. There is no way they can sell this many models of engines that perhaps 20 people in the world have heard of (are you personally going to buy thousands of models?). Please try to reign in these very unrealistic expectations. No-one is going to produce models, films or TV series with characters some guy called Captain Punjab made up. Only characters in books by Christopher Awdry ever have any chance of appearing anywhere and there is almost no chance Mr. Awdry will be allowed to produce further books. Well, they ship the Take Along models from Exeter in the UK. When I had a problem I went there and they gave me a free playmat, butthat was because my Branchline Playset broke. Maybe they make the models also. Jay

Ertl's website is www.ertltoys.com. Simply typing "Ertl" into Google brought that up immediately, and I suggest that you try researching these things yourself in future. But I would say that your chances of getting them to produce these models are nil. Apart from anything else, Ertl do not make Thomas toys any more.

I don't understand why you think it's "boring" to "only" have eight engines on the Culdee Fell Railway. If there had been so many Mountain Railway stories that the eight characters were played out, then I could understand. But only Culdee, Godred and Lord Harry really had stories about them. That means there are five characters who haven't been properly explored - one hasn't even appeared in the books. James the Red Engine

Technically he isn't based on either of them. Reginald Payne was responsible for James' look, and Rev. W. Awdry invented a prototype for the character based upon this. Felix, you can read about the process of becoming an administrator here. However, I would advise you against trying this. Most people who express an opinion on RfA debates expect to see around 2500 edits over at least 4-5 months (although some will vote to support with less). You are still a long way short of these goals. You would also be expected to understand most Wikipedia policies and to have demonstrated this in your editing. Please be more careful creating new articles

Felix, in the past 24 hours I've had to clear up a number of problematic edits you've made. You are creating a lot of duplicates of articles that already exist. This is a problem because it means the same subject is covered on two or more separate pages, which leads to a lot of confusion and make Wikipedia much harder to maintain.

Just a few examples. You created a page called "Claud Hamilton" when a much better page already existed at Claud Hamilton, 1st Lord Paisley. You also created a page called "Clogwyn" when there was an existing article Clogwyn Du'r Arddu that had much more information. Now you have created a Category called "American actresses" when there are already multiple categories such as "American Film Actors". This mess takes a lot of work to clear up. Please be a lot more careful about what you do. It is very easy to use the Search feature to find if pages already exits. Going round creating duplicate articles is making a mess of Wikipedia. Ah, it was deleted it, and you've recreated it. I did not delete the article. The admin User:Proto did. In fact he deleted it twice, on both occasions because he believed it was a non-notable biography. This is because the article has so little information that no-one can tell whether Clive Spong is notable enough for an article. This is exactly the problem that Foxearth tells you about above. If your articles are one sentence that has little or no information about a subject they are very likely to be deleted. There are many examples of good articles on Wikipedia. For example, take a look at Hugh Laurie which has lots of detail and verifiable information. Until you have a lot of information to add about a subject, please consider not writing the article. Stop creating separate articles for every last engine

Felix, you have just gone through and created articles for every one of the Culdee Fell Railway locomotives. There is absolutely no reason to do this. The articles are so short they just repeat the information that is already available on the main railway page. What's more I have already gone through this twice with you before. Creating these articles is a problem - it makes it hard to maintain the set of information about the railway and you now have articles that contain so little information they may get deleted entirely.

I notice that you have been doing this all over Wikipedia. Its a real pain and you need to:

1) Stop doing this imnmediately

2) Undo the changes you have made

Felix, I am sure I am not the only member of WikiProject Thomas who would be quite understanding if Gwernol decided to block you permanently. Your recent activity has been diametrically opposed to the aims of our Project - namely the reduction of individual pages! This means that much less 'Thomas' information is getting to Wikipedia, as we keep having to clear up after you rather than adding new stuff. I am sure this is not what you really want.

It is a shame that the one in twenty useful edits you make (eg adding all those pictures to Minor Characters (Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends) was good) is overshadowed by the many other 'useless' ones. You recently created a category for the Arlesdale Railway, which was unnecessary, and then populated it with unnecessary new pages: Mike the red engine, Bert the blue engine, Jock the yellow engine (anyway, should have been the new engine!), Frank the diesel engine, Blister I & II, Sigrid of Arlesdale. (Only Rex the green engine existed before.) In all cases the information was already available on the Arlesdale Railway page.

Please, please, please put your boundless time and enthusiasm for 'Thomas' to good use. After you have deleted all those redundant pages you have created, and removed the links you added to them, how about seeing what WikiProject Thomas editors are up to, and join in (constructively!!). There is a lot of work still to do, and you will be welcomed. However, if you continue with the 'anti-Project' behaviour of recent times, I am sure the Project editors will be petitioning the admins to have you blocked, if only to preserve our sanity!!

Please take note of what I have said. You have had plenty of warnings. Please learn from them and start pulling in the same direction as the rest of us.

I'm assuming you're talking about producing more Railway Series/Thomas books. A first step would be to get a literary agent, as they know about publishing and publishers take more notice of authors represented by agents. You'd need permission from the copyright holders. But I should point out that the copyright holders would be very unlikely to let you produce Railway Series books - after all, they're not even allowing Christopher Awdry to publish any more, and he's a proven, experienced author with 14 Railway Series books to his name.

If you write a book, then you own the copyright on it unless you sign it over to someone else or the book uses characters, settings etc. taken from another author's work. To get the legal right to use someone else's characters, settings etc., you would need to get permission from the copyright holder. But, as I say, the copyright holders would be very unlikely to give the permission to an author who is not represented by an agent or already established as a published writer, because they would not want to risk damaging their "brand". -Tom

I have contacted the makers of TTTE and ask them if they are going to continue to televise more of the Railway Series books by the Awdrys (I also made sure that they'll introduce the CFR and AR), so that the book televising is successful. I also ask them if they are going to introduce Mindy (LMS Fairburn 2-6-4T) Joy and Nazz (JNR C62 4-6-4), Andrew (Barclay 0-4-0 Fireless), Lispy (LMS Royal Scot Class 4-6-0), Llanberis Lake Railway, Leo the Purple Engine (American Dockside 0-4-0), Pud'n and Hug'n (American 4-4-0), The Bible Engines (Joseph V2, Jacob A2 and brothers Jinty 3Fs), Jeff the Shinkansen, Mushi and Tulie (Furness Railway K2s), Bow Wow (LNER Class D17), Vortex (American 2-6-2), Jack (the other Jack, a Haywood Foundry 0-6-0 well tank), Shell (I decided to base him on the Class 37) and the characters from you know what. You're asking them to produce well over 100 new characters, if you include fan characters and untelevised Railway Series characters. The models cost thousands of pounds each. That's before you've factored in all the new sets that would have to be built for these characters.

It's also worth noting that engines from America, Japan etc. couldn't work on Sodor, because the railway is built to a British loading gauge.

I have to say, I'm doubtful that tney've actually accepted the ideas. For one thing, some of those characters could get them into trouble (Bluenose is a transparent rip-off of a character from Tugs, Smokey Joe is owned by Hornby). For another, it sounds like you've simply got a list of names and engines. You don't define their personalities, explain what they do, how they fit in, what makes them stand out from the other characters or anything like that. That's almost certainly a form letter meaning they aren't going to do anything with your ideas. They send exactly the same letter to everyone who contacts them except for the people they are going to a deal with. You can't just make HIT make you an offer. You're one of hundreds of people who wants to write for Thomas, and your ideas are unlikely to make it through because:

1. You're not a professional writer. You have no published works. You have no agent. If you want to become a professional writer, try here.

2. You're submitting your ideas to the general email address, not to the production department. I suspect the only way you could get the production department's details would be through an agent.

3. You're submitting ideas that are simply not developed enough to be usable. For instance, you don't describe the characters' personalities or potential storylines for them in any great detail. They would basically be paying you for a list of names, which anyone could come up with, and which is certainly not worth a writer's fee. The staff writers already employed by the series would have to do most of the work.

4. Many of the ideas you're submitting are not your own. They came from Thomascollector, Hornby and other sources. HIT have better things to do than chase twenty different creators.

Generally, it seems to me that you're just not listening to what anyone is saying to you. When someone explains to you why you can't get your characters made or your books published or whatever, you just ignore them and say things like, "it's not fair" and, "I really want it" and, "I asked them to do this". And then you ask people to do you favours like finding addresses, contacting people and answering your questions - why should they, if you're not going to listen to them? - Tom

Arthur has only three note-worthy appearances (thus far):

Lists?

Sorry this might seem a little rude, but what exactly is the point of those ttteaf/railway series/tugs lists on your user page, what purpose do they serve? It looks unneccesary to be honest, I can't understand what thrill you get out of them. Also, I didn't upload pictures of the tugs San Francisco class because:

• A) You should do it yourself if you want to see them, they're your priority not mine

and

• B) I sincerely doubt you will find any pictures of the classes (at least not colour ones since the period TUGS is set in is the 1920's and therefore the design cannot be captured in colour) You'll be lucky to find anything, but by all means try.

Felix, this is still not completely right:

1) Only create new articles if there is good reason to create a separate article. In general, expand existing articles rather than create new ones. Always make sure your additions are correct, verifiable and well-written.

2) You have to ask the copyright holder's permission. This is often not the same person as the webmaster.

3) This is good: discussing changes on article talk pages is a good idea. However promoting your fan fiction or asking the same question over and over when its already been answered is a very bad idea.

That's actually a slightly more plausible suggestion since it seems that Egmont have a licensing arrangement with HIT Entertainment (as far as I can tell) so they might have the right to use those characters in future books. However as you've been told before, publishers almost never accept unsolicited ideas like yours. All I know is that they have the right to publish the existing books in the UK. This does not mean they have the right to publish any future books. They might have that right, but I don't know. Why are you creating separate articles about the characters of Ojamajo Doremi? The articles you are creating have less information than the main article List of characters from Ojamajo Doremi. For example Onpu_Segawa: why does this character need a separate article?

We went through all this before with the Thomas the Tank Engine characters. I explained to you above (on more than one occasion) that you should not create separate articles on characters unless you had a substantial amount of new information. What little new you have could easily be added to the appropriate section of List of characters from Ojamajo Doremi. Are you deliberately trying to disrupt Wikipedia? Please explain exactly why you think these characters should have separate articles.

How are you going to pay for the airfares for all these people who live around the globe to come to your house? How are you going to pay for the time they miss from schools and jobs? Assuming you actually get round to creating a workable plot and storyline, you will need 7200 individual frames of animation, most of which will be made up of several layer and moving pieces, for just one 5-minute episode. If you ever get to that stage, then is the time to think about adding dialogue. I suggest you start by reading the article on animation and go from there. I once tried stop-motion animation using Lego and just as an example a 10-second clip at only 15 frames per second (150 frames - do the maths) with no sound took over 2 days to complete. The reason you want to be a moderator is so you won't be blocked? That sounds like a good reason not to make you a moderator. To be a moderator, you have to ensure that you know and understand the rules of Wikipedia, and ensure that others follow them.
