Re: why the deletion of Blood:Water Mission? edit

I proposed Blood:Water Mission for deletion because it reads exactly like a press release copied from a website which it appears to be. If you have found other articles which are simply press releases, please, by all means let me know. If you think that this information belongs in an encyclopedia—which Wikipedia is, first and foremost&emdash;then I would advise blanking the article, and writing about the organization from a neutral point of view, and making sure you follow What Wikipedia is Not.--digital_me(TalkˑContribs) 14:49, 25 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Please do not upload images in the GIF format edit

Hello and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. I noticed that you've uploaded a number of images in the GIF format. In the future, please save GIF images in the PNG format before converting (see Wikipedia:Preparing images for upload). PNG images almost always have a smaller file size, which decreases the amount of time they take to load. There are a bunch of other advantages to the PNG format such as lossless compression that you can read about on its Wikipedia article. ---Remember the dot 03:23, 2 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Duplicate images uploaded edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Bonoinbrisbane.jpg. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:292257267 fdfbac4014.jpg. The copy called Image:292257267 fdfbac4014.jpg has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.

This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and remember exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Staeckerbot 02:47, 25 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Image:Bono honolulu.jpg edit

Tina Vanbeveren's permission is not sufficient, alone, to allow us to use the image on Wikipedia. We need her to release all rights of the image and to release it into the public domain or keep the copyright in her name and allow the image to be used for any purpose.

What needs to be done.

  1. Author needs to be contacted.
  2. She needs to:
    1. Release the image into the public domain or
    2. Keep the copyright and allow the image to be used for any purpose.
  3. After such information is released, we need to switch the tag to {{PD-author|Tina Vanbeveren}} or {{Copyrighted free use}} dependent upon which she picks.

I've e-mailed the author and I'm waiting for a response. Chupper 13:43, 28 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
Initially the author did not want to allow the work to be used for any purpose, however it looks like they are now willing to do so. I've updated the licensing information on the image page, if that is alright with you... Chupper 15:57, 28 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the help Chupper, cause I'm not very good in this thing of liscences, although when I first talk to her (Tina) she did gave me the permission, don't know why the author (her husband) didn't wanted to, but all is alright now, so thanks for that! The liscense and box you include all the stuff is cool too. I feel so relieve to see a good picture of Bono in his Wikipedia's article that is visted every day! Thanks again.

Image copyright problem with Image:Bonoinbrisbane.jpg edit

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Bonoinbrisbane.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Iamunknown 00:46, 29 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Bono.jpg) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Bono.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Iamunknown 10:37, 11 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Image:Jarsofclay_goodmonsters_press-main_lo.jpg edit

I have tagged Image:Jarsofclay_goodmonsters_press-main_lo.jpg as {{orphaned fairuse}}. In order for the image to be kept at Wikipedia, it must be included in at least one article. If this image is being used as a link target instead of displayed inline, please add {{not orphan}} to the image description page to prevent it being accidentally marked as orphaned again. Commercial use of Image:DanofJOC.jpg edit

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:DanofJOC.jpg, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:DanofJOC.jpg has a copyright license type implying some type of restricted use, such as for non-commercial use only, or for educational use only or for use on Wikipedia by permission, which was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19 or is not used in any articles (CSD I3). While it might seem reasonable to assume that such files can be freely used on Wikipedia, this is in fact not the case[1][2]. Please do not upload any more files with these restrictions on them, because content on Wikipedia needs to be compatible with the GNU Free Documentation License, which allows anyone to use it for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial. See our non-free content guidelines for more more information.

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. This bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Image:DanofJOC.jpg itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. If you have any questions about what to do next or why your image was nominated for speedy deletion please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thanks. --Android Mouse Bot 2 21:08, 11 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:JarOfClayGrayMatterslogo.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:JarOfClayGrayMatterslogo.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Image source problem with Image:Bloodwaterwebpagelogo.jpg edit

Image Copyright problem

This is an automated message from a robot. You have recently uploaded Image:Bloodwaterwebpagelogo.jpg. The file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 19:42, 12 September 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. If you believe you received this message in error, please notify the bot's owner. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:JOCChristmasSongscover.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:JOCChristmasSongscover.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 22:58, 6 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

File source problem with File:FCA07press.jpg edit

Thank you for uploading File:FCA07press.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 05:38, 18 September 2010 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk 05:38, 18 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
