Size comparison image on baleen whale page

Hi. The term "great whale" includes the sperm whale, not just baleen whales. It also traditionally excludes the two species of minke whale. There also appears to be a mistake in the labeling. Thanks for correcting my English. Baleen whales are often referred to as the "great whales". My caption didn't say this is correct, just that it is common. Publisher vs work field in citations

Hello, thanks very much for the reference you added to Brenda Fassie. However, the work field is better than the publisher field for newspapers like The Independent, because the former field puts the newspaper title in italics (which is the standard formatting in this situation). I can only assume from this contentious claim that you think you have wider consensus than might be found on the subject's talk page to arbitrarily remove illustrative pictures and text. Can you point me to that "community consensus on a wider scale" which endorses your deletions? Even to an AAH advocate, it should be apparent that AAH is FRINGE. Notwithstanding all the ARGUE or the CONSENSUS on that page, it should be apparent to you that there is no general acceptance of AAH. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and should describe AAH as FRINGE. Even allowing that AAH is "fringe", it is the encyclopaedia's job to present the arguments of that hypothesis (indeed, to give a reasonably full exposition of its subject), and then debunk them. What you appear to be doing, on the contrary, is deleting material without discussion. btw WP:POV, which I assume you are referring to in this edit comment, applies to comments or slants provided by the WP editor, not to published opinion which is duly credited as was the case of the text you deleted without discussion. Not your fault the quotation had got messed up before it reached you. But now it's fixed, the sic can go.

(Also, just for the record, whoever added that sic in the first place put it in the wrong place - it should come right after the incorrect word that one is quoting correctly from the source. And if we're going to be totally perfectionistic, there actually is a small hiccup in Huxley's syntax: the to at the beginning of the second sentence, "and to those . . . ", shouldn't be there. That's the sort of trivial slip that it's considered appropriate to correct without comment, rather than call attention to with a sic).

Removed cite

The DOI 10.4236 belongs to OMICS Group, a predatory open access publishing company currently being pursued by the Federal trade Commission for fraudulent practices around its journals. It is not a WP:RS. That's why I removed it. I have cleaned up a lot of these (and others have also helped); we now have no citations in Wikipedia to a couple of the worst predatory publishers but there is a lot more to do. Hi, as you put a rewrite tag on the AAH article, would like to hear from you which elements need to be improved. To me, except a few points of disagreement (e.g. lede image which has been removed), the balance and the reliability of the current article are OK -- short sections for Thesis and History, a detailed Reception acknowledging its overwhelming rejection / silence, and a Further Research showing independent developments, all contents reviewed by secondary RS. Sorry to complain, but the edits you reinstated were pov. The editor removed material using academic sources calling them pov. For instance the author of one of the books was Ian Shaw (Egyptologist) writing in a Cambridge University Press book still used several times in the article. In fact they wiped out the entire Arabian Peninsula section. I think I probably added quite a bit of that and I avoid fringe like the plague. This seems to be pov editor. See[3] and [4] - note the focus on the Horn of Africa. Any chance of self-reverting? I really don't want to get into an edit-war. Doug Weller talk 12:46, 19 January 2020 (UTC)

• Whatever your issues with the IP users are, you need to use clear edit summaries if you believe your reverts are justified. If you do not, or if your reasons are not justified, you are risking being blocked for disruptive editing. Also, you shouldn't use rollbacks to make reverts that are not clearly vandalism without using edit summaries.
