There are many ways you can contribute to Wikipedia. Here are a few ideas:
    Fight vandalism
Be a WikiFairy or a WikiGnome
    Help contribute to articles

    Perform maintenance tasks
Become a member of a project that interests you
    Help design new templates

Remember to always sign your posts on talk pages. You can do this either by clicking on the   button on the edit toolbar or by typing four tildes (~~~~) at the end of your post. This will automatically insert your signature, a link to this (your talk) page, and a timestamp.

The best way to learn about something is to experience it. Explore, learn, contribute, and don't forget to have some fun!
To get some practice editing you can use a sandbox. You can create your own private sandbox for use any time. Perfect for working on bigger projects. Then for easy access in the future, you can put {{My sandbox}} on your userpage.

Userpage edit

For making your user page look nice, see: Wikipedia:User page design center. You can also "clone/borrow/steal" the code from someone else's user page. Just ensure that you change it enough that it does not look like you are trying to impersonate the other user. Wikipedia:User pages is a good guide as to what kind of things are appropriate in user space. And when you use the work someone else has created, in the edit summary please attribute the work to them by naming the user you copied the content from. If you want to add userboxes you can start here: Wikipedia:Userboxes. There are also many, many customized userboxes floating around on user pages in the Wikipedia, if you find one you fancy just copy the code from the page. If you are further interested in defining yourself and your style there is also the Wikipedia:WikiFauna. w.carter-Talk 23:45, 24 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

Your user page edit

Bon soir, Fête dans la vie. Since this is the English Wikipedia, it is generally not a good idea to have so much text in another language on your user page even if it is as poetic as that. Some editors that don't speak French might misunderstand it and nominate the page for deletion. I have seen that happened, so please read the guidelines I provided for you and fix up something in English for that page. If you like you can always have that text on another subpage that you link to your user page later. Best, w.carter-Talk 23:51, 24 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

Lyrics on your user page edit

I'm sorry to say that I've removed the song lyrics from your user page. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously, and our policy is that we cannot have large amounts of copyrighted material without permission from the authors. If you have any questions about this, contact me (click the "talk" link after my name), or go to the Teahouse. Anon126 (notify me of responses! / talk / contribs) 04:51, 25 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

Good call Anon126, thank you. I did not realize that the text was copyrighted. I guess my "copy-radar" was just too sleepy at the moment. w.carter-Talk 07:28, 25 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
In your defense, w.carter, the version you had when you posted your message was this, so that would've been harder to find. Anon126 (notify me of responses! / talk / contribs) 15:49, 25 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
Bonjour Anon, the lyrics are not mine, it was a song by camille (Le festin) in the movie of Ratatouille, Merci--Fête dans la vie (talk) 20:48, 25 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
